- nerdherder, on 08/18/2008, -3/+26want to punch people who use periods randomly. so. bad.
- ScottMcIntyre, on 08/17/2008, -2/+20I like the photo of the crookedest street in San Francisco- I once drove down there which was cool. The UK also features with Swindon, England which has the world’s most confusing intersection. It's fittingly called the "Magic Roundabout"!
- Culero, on 08/17/2008, -6/+21want to punch douche on segway. so. bad.
- StigNordas, on 08/17/2008, -0/+9The funny thing about Lombard St. in SF is the real estate prices are lower than the surrounding area. There are so many tourists 24/7 that it sucks living on the st. Beautiful area however!
- Bamboolemur, on 08/18/2008, -0/+8I think I may have an easier time going down lombard street than making my way through that article. Formatting anyone?
- blakestah, on 08/18/2008, -0/+7Actually, it is 35% grade which is something like 18-19 degrees, but it still feels really steep!
They also left out San Francisco, which has two streets at 32% grade - one of which is Filbert parallel to Lombard St, a few blocks over. David Letterman did a show there once in which he released stuff from the top of it. - ndseifi, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6Dugg for tricycle carnage!
- supguy, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6Yeah that street is cool, unless you're dumb enough to buy a house on it. tourists driving on it ALL ***** DAY.
- gilderic, on 08/17/2008, -2/+8An amazing collection !
- purelithium, on 08/17/2008, -2/+8Dugg for Canada!
- mb3581, on 08/18/2008, -0/+5It sucks parking in your garage too. Last time I went down Lombard I almost shat myself because there was a truck coming UP. I thought I had made a serious miscalculation and someone went the wrong direction on a one way street. It was merely trying to get out of the "driveway".
- ignisatra, on 08/18/2008, -0/+4But do they all have Google Street views?
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -1/+5I wonder how many wrecks occur in the 12 lane intersection? Not a good idea to me
- Bamboolemur, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3You forget: we have an army of beavers. And by beavers, I mean...
- Aeric, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3dugg for the tiny road that connects High Street to Waterbeer. Sounds like the perfect intersection.
- mellowmonk, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3I've driven out-of-town company down Lombard street many times. On summer weekends the line of cars waiting to drive down is several blocks long. The novelty of living on that street must wear off quickly.
- scottsutherland, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3What people also need to keep in mind is how few rules there are for driving in different countries. Many countries simply have open spaces and so long as you make it from A to B without causing damage, you can.
- BalooUrsidae, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2If it's anything like some of the bigger intersections in the Tualatin Valley (which are often more than four way with many lanes), surprisingly few. Prohibit turns on red and get some skilled people to program the signal logic and everything goes really smoothly.
Some good examples of hairy intersections out in the Tualatin Valley would be OR-10 at OR-210, Scholls Ferry Road, Dogwood Lane and Oleson Road. It's an 8-way intersection.
Another good one would be OR-8 at Murray Blvd, 9 lanes by 7 lanes and the second busiest intersection in the state. - apeinvegas, on 08/18/2008, -1/+3I like the narrowest street (England). Pretty cool. xD
- matt2m, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Anyone reminded of sim city or its just me.
- dopre, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2It's Vermont Street

- dsmx, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2The magic roundabout is a brilliant piece of design and great in theory. In practice however unless you understand how it works it's confusing so much so that is the only roundabout I know of that is actually in the highway code for motorists in the UK.
- cquilliam, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2I had a look at the "Steepest Streets in the world" link, and, of course its hard for me to tell from video, but, there are many streets here in St John's, Newfoundland, Canada in the downtown area that look way steeper than these. Of course, I have no numbers to back it up, but they can be scary in winter time.
- lulzy, on 08/18/2008, -1/+3you may still need that road for its intended purpose should the republicans get the presidency...
- fattymatty, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1There is one other very crooked street in San Francisco that I would say rivals Lombard St.
Plug this into google maps. 37.758726, -122.403871 - PiRATE7, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I could hop on a go-kart an throw some shells on those roads
- jnahc, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1wow.. amazing! i've only been to #7 tho
- darkshadowfor, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1He's going the distance. He's going for speed. She's all alone, all alone, in a time of need.
- 0lungs, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1I can't believe I recognized that very first photo of the winding street from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater!
- gbarger, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1That race video actually looks like a lot of fun to me. A few years ago I spent the night at a hotel overlooking lombard st, and from what I remember I wouldn't have believed the big wheels would actually build up that kind of speed.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -1/+238 degree incline? No way, maybe 38% incline.
- dopre, on 08/18/2008, -1/+2San Franciscans don't drive down the Lombard Street; only tourists.

- CrushThemTorg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1So is the entire city of Toronto built around Yonge St., or is it the only part worth mentioning? I'm not speaking ill of Toronto or anything, but it's the only thing I ever heard about it.
- TheMachine1, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1We could save some gas if more streets were that narrow
- MomMomMom, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1At least you don't have to worry about drive-by's.
- Vodd9, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1I ***** love WebUrbanist.

- Rikkochet, on 08/18/2008, -2/+2I visited Lombard St a couple of summers ago and found it actually wasn't very busy at all. Lots of pedestrians walking down it but not much vehicle traffic. It probably intimidates enough people to not drive there.
Plus, considering how gorgeous the houses on that street are up close, if lots of people walking by is your biggest concern you've got it made. - jforinfo, on 12/20/2008, -0/+0Great collection!
