- suxmonkey, on 12/19/2007, -27/+236#8 The Constitution ... Aight, but seriously: it's amazing that such beautiful and seemingly useful buildings and complexes in seemingly valuable locations in and around cities would be left to go to ruin like this!
- phixed, on 12/19/2007, -2/+98I'm shocked Detroit (the entire city) isn't on the list.
- fhernand, on 12/19/2007, -0/+59why would you stitch pictures up like that?
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -4/+52At the rate the real estate market is declining you'll be able to add more to that list soon

- VelvetoneFusion, on 12/19/2007, -0/+21Centralia, PA
- Downtime, on 12/19/2007, -0/+21some sweet counter strike maps there
- heypetray, on 12/19/2007, -0/+18Nice. You just doubled Lycos' hit count today!
- finalcloud33, on 12/19/2007, -0/+18Hmmmmm it seems all other states other than New York have a lack of abandoned buildings....

- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -5/+21Because every American who cares about the constitution supports Ron Paul. You are a poon.
- Coven, on 12/19/2007, -0/+14FYI, Typhoid Mary was quarantined on North Brother Island.
- asauterChicago, on 12/19/2007, -0/+14Agree this is a list of the most amazing abandon structures in NYC, and a couple in California. I don't think any of the sites on this list are particularly interesting. Buffalo New York has a gigantic 20 story abandoned rail station that's awesome, Detroit has a 40 story high-rise building completely abandoned, Cleveland has a hole abandoned subway system, Chicago, for that matter, has over 500 miles of abandoned subway under the streets of the loop. There's also a couple huge abandoned nuclear bunkers in the middle of America... there's way better and more impressive sites than these.
- jonesyb, on 12/19/2007, -0/+13Here are some of my own from the UK:
http://www.djbenj.co.uk/urbex/locations.html
The Victorian Asylums are just some of the most amazing places to explore. Breathtaking.
Not been out taking photos since before summer though due to work so it has not had new places added. All the pics are taken with crappy point and shoots through to better cameras...
If you think this is blatant spam you may be right... you don't have to have a look though. Bury away by all means I am not really bothered.
Just noticed there is also a couple of errors on my site. Hmmm.. rather strange. I must fix those,. - inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+12something about these things just totally fascinates me.
seems such a waste but so serene at the same time - VelvetoneFusion, on 12/19/2007, -1/+11Its "Va-Jay-Jay".
- Ninnux, on 12/19/2007, -0/+10Glad to see Western Penitentiary is on the list. But don't forget Eastern State Penitentiary on the other side of Pennsylvania. Hands down, the coolest haunted house to visit during Halloween.
http://www.easternstate.org - unusualbob, on 12/19/2007, -0/+9wait, that link actually works?
- Vito82, on 12/19/2007, -0/+8Dibbs on those servers and Malt Liquor left at Sun Mircosystems.
- windowbreaker, on 12/19/2007, -0/+8Why not the original Bethlehem Steel?
http://www.oboylephoto.com/steel/index.htm - aerospace, on 12/19/2007, -0/+8I'm shocked Centralia isn't on the list. It's on Digg at least once a year, isn't it due soon?
- nnssa, on 12/19/2007, -1/+9the DeJarnette Center in Staunton VA is pretty, I can't personally speak for the interior, yet.
http://www.deenawarner.net/mambo/index.php?option= ... - GeorgeStone2, on 12/19/2007, -0/+7That's amazing.
I like how now and then, someone post something that isn't LOLcats or pedantic faggotry.
But instead truely interesting.
Reminds me of how Digg used to be. - numb, on 12/19/2007, -0/+7The abandoned hydro-electric power plant under Niagra Falls:

- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -4/+10Nah, it's just that in other states they aren't interesting.
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6St. Augistine’s Monastary
Also known as where that criminal gang hung out in Police Academy and many, many, many more bad 80's movies. - rayraym0fucka, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Thank you!
- StephenCIreland, on 12/19/2007, -1/+6it said wonder, not blunder... at least SUN is still around
- vladimirlemon, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Pennhurst State School and Hospital in Spring City, PA is another great one to explore. There are vast underground tunnel systems (used to easily transport patients) now home to many hobos. It was shut down in the late 80's after court proceedings involving patient abuse.
- joeydoo, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Haunted...? haha.. That's the reason it's not used!
Holy crap.. who do I call to buy it? That's got to be a steal. I'll take my chances with the "ghosts" ;) - Gambra, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Fans of COD4 might like this one.. Explorations of Chernobyl/Prypiat.. FYI: she didn't actually drive in with her motorbike for days on end. She visited for one day with her husband..
http://www.kiddofspeed.com/chernobyl-revisited/ - rayraym0fucka, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Which sites? I'd like to have a look.
- asauterChicago, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Speaking of Buffalo, check this one out: http://www.infiltration.org/abandoned-bct.html , this didn't make the list, well, because it's a ***** list, most likely the only sites the author has been to.
- franuzzz, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4does anyone know if MT Hope Cemetery in Rochester NY is open to explore? or is it locked down pretty good?
oh and i cant believe the HH Richardson building in Buffalo NY is not on this list.... http://www.rootsweb.com/~asylums/buffalo_ny/bobshe ... i have been in there and it is amazing inside - jp3550, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4I agree, i can't help but stare at each image for extended periods of time. Its like beautiful art.
- Error601, on 12/19/2007, -1/+5The how is easy. It cost too much freaking money to bring it up to code and maintain it. Foundation deterioration is a big one that you can't easily see.
- hoodmonkey, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Let's try it: Lackawanna - holy hell help me I'm choking!
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Prove it.... not that lycos was a blunder but that SUN is still around.
- NinjaBoy, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Dude that silo is was scary then i thought it would be.
- arjie, on 12/19/2007, -4/+7I don't know. Frankly, some of these places are automatically beautiful to me only because they're abandoned. The Steel Mill, for instance.
- funkytaco, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3Was Western Penitentiary in PA used in an episode of Super Natural?
- ctabone, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3What about the Kings Park Psychiatric Center?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kings_Park_Psychiatri ...
http://s.albalux.com/webpage/ (amazing photos)
It's a 552 acres abandoned psychiatric facility, originally opened in 1885 and containing over 150 buildings. - iticu, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3Wish I had the balls to break into an abandoned Nuclear bunker.
- bxblox, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3you get stuck in a time loop if you go there and relive the scene of the accident 1000 times, once through each victims eyes.... *copyright*
- bjs3171, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3*****. i went to RIT for 3 years and never explored MT Hope cemetery. Passed it many times, but never went in, and had no idea that abandoned chapel was there, but it looks way cool. shame on me.
