- edwartica, on 04/06/2009, -0/+11I've seen a couple of those fields in person. The photos are awe inspiring, but they don't do the fields justice.
- JohnH91, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6I like rice, rice is great if you're hungry and want 2000 of something.
-Mitch Hedberg - agentsrecord, on 04/07/2009, -0/+5Why can't America have kick ass looking agricultural methods like this? Come on, farmers, let's do something cool with those rows of corn.
- palehorse864, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4I really like... rice.
- inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4MMM... I like rice!
- Myztry, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4Digimon. Digital landscapes...
- deity, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4Where are the environmentalists decrying the destruction of whole mountains and the ruining of the natural landscape? These people destroyed whole ecosystems, and for what a little rice?

In all seriousness this is quite amazing. Taking mountainous country and making it productive farmland. - damntourists, on 04/07/2009, -0/+4i've never thought about how rice grows until now... very cool.
- flamyngo, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I had actually never seen one of these before. That's really cool. I love seeing things smart and effective like this from before the use of technology.
- scarlettletter, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Very tranquil!
- shawns, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3what rice shortage?
- skate3214, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Nice and tranquil and hey who doesn't like rice!
- palehorse864, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4Woo, that field is completely riced out! NICE!
- Byronn, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2They all look like the land was formed based on a topographical map.
- Origin415, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2I'll be going to sapa in a couple weeks, can't wait :D
- RonaldSays, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Amazing pictures. Some of these pictures could definitely work as a painting.
- PaulOwen, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2The 7th "China" picture is from Japan, not China:

the clue is in the title of the blog post it came from:
http://beautifulfeettoronto.blogspot.com/2008/05/j ... - perkoff, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2This should be titled 20 Incredibly SMALL Pictures Of Rice Terraces.
I don't know how you can tell they're amazing when you can't really see a thing. It'd be nice if they had some links to some detailed pictures instead of the over sized thumbnails they have on their. - edwartica, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Lol! Hysterical. The ones I saw were in Bali.
- Tigerotor77W, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I was going to say... dugg because I'm Asian, but this works.
- tr0j, on 04/07/2009, -1/+2Humanity's attempts to control its environment always cause me to pause. Here's another kind of terracing, which has more awe than beauty to it. It's at a gold mine in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia called the Superpit. The axle on one the wheels of one of those haultrucks is about the height of an average man.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=246j7l5&s=5 - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1Crazy thing is that most of those terraces are hundreds or thousands of years old, worked by generation after generation after generation.

? - CrankMyBlueSax, on 04/07/2009, -1/+1If you presume to use the word "incredible" to describe a picture of a rice terrace, I fully expect to see the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders having a naked tickle fight somewhere in the photo.
- openthewell, on 04/07/2009, -5/+3Where are all the Hondas with giant wings?!
