- majkeli, on 04/12/2009, -0/+35Doesn't it seem weird this is on MSNBC?
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -0/+31Christ man, you don't look for acid. It will find you when it thinks you're ready.
- Khast, on 04/12/2009, -0/+26Click "Print this" so it is all in one page.
- leontes, on 04/12/2009, -1/+17I get that you can access these kind of mind-altering or expanding substances in a variety of locations that is hard to find locally. You know, what though, all travel is mind altering. I would recommend using psychedelic substances (if you do choose to use them) in a place of familiarity with a network of support. Going elsewhere to subject oneself to what is essentially substance induced psychosis is just asking for a bad trip. When one is in unfamiliar locales with unfamiliar customs, food, and environs your brain is already attempting to adjust which can lead to disorientation, expansion and new cognitive formations.
The best new experiences come from controlled chaos. Only expand to the level of current comfort and don't be foolhardy in unfamiliar environments, I would recommend. - drmobutu, on 04/11/2009, -1/+16"After two or three cups are passed around the fire, you're dancing and singing with reckless abandon."
Rubbish...after two or three cups of kava, you're slumped in front of the fire, nodding off... - Bainemo, on 04/12/2009, -0/+9Time for a hundred thousand morons to make up stories about how much X they took and how all they remember is something wacky happening and then waking up next to Y
- inactive, on 04/12/2009, -0/+7And what? You'll not have a headache??
cuz that won't do anything.
To anybody.
except give them pain relief.
And quickly. - Metavised, on 04/12/2009, -0/+6I'd suggest people research what they intend to ingest:
http://www.erowid.org/
http://www.lycaeum.org/ - Metavised, on 04/12/2009, -1/+6A) Take 250-400mg of benadryl.
B) Go the arachnid/bug portion of your local zoo.
(Disclaimer: Yea, don't really ***** do it.) - ZiGz, on 04/12/2009, -0/+5you're on an extremely slippery slope man....substances should not be used as crutches. it is the basis of addiction. change your life
- Walker2323, on 04/12/2009, -0/+5I once took a large dose of Kava. Friends had brought it back from Fiji and I wanted to give it a shot. I had double the dosage they recommended, but I figured, what the hell, let's party, and went to a house party.
Long story short, I'm told I had a good time, but I got drunk, blacked out the whole evening, and woke up naked in my own bed (about 10 kms away) with a pile of my wet clothes beside me. No idea what happened.
Clearly this is not the way they recommend to take Kava. I've since taken it properly and it's like the opposite of coffee - mellow and calming, but subtly so. The good stuff from Fiji kicked my ass, but I presume this may have had something to do with the whiskey. - deviouster, on 04/12/2009, -0/+4I like Kava.
- LanceUppercut, on 04/12/2009, -0/+4i'd like to hear more about kava. I consume quite a bit of alcohol for similar effects(bad I know) and if kava provides either a sedated or numbing experience that would be great :)
I have a lot on my mind, currently using bacardi to take the edge off. Gets expensive and tends to bulk up the midsection :-/ - effer, on 04/12/2009, -2/+6If you operate a Mac Pro, you can simply close any opened windows and enjoy the soft, soothing aroma of Benzene.
- PlatinumOGKush, on 04/12/2009, -0/+4Could not agree with you more. The more familiar you are with your surroundings and those taking the trip with you, the (generally) better trip you will have.
- mehan, on 04/12/2009, -1/+5since when is MSNBC a severely dumbed down version of erowid?
- shulkman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3250-400 is a really high dose... I take 50migs and I sleep pretty well.
- radneg1, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3Have done a sweat lodge before. Definite euphoria.
- Technopundit, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3Never drop acid and go to Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose. It could be fatal.
- andrespereyda, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3the article on a whole was pretty good and insightful. they missed the ibogaine clinics in mexico. you trip for 3 days, but within the first 5 hours, it cures all addiction to opiates (ie: heroin). <----and it's illegal in the good ol' usa (because they profit from not having real cures)
- ConcernedCanuck, on 04/12/2009, -4/+6I once made tea strained with my socks.... I wouldn't recommend it to others :(
- shulkman, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I took a handful of kava before a flight from Europe to Seattle, slept the whole way. There was no mind alteration at all. Just sleep.
- frontmanpb101, on 04/12/2009, -1/+3I came here to give my opinion on the irresponsibility of advising people to travel to foreign countries to take psychotropic drugs simply because they're legal there (as opposed to America). You summed up what I wanted to say much more eloquently and rationally than I think I could, so +1.
Also, I haven't tried peyote/mescaline, but if it's strength is near the magnitude of acid, anyone who's getting suggestions for new drugs from an MSNBC novelty piece is in for an incredibly long 15 hours that they won't soon forget, or possibly return from if undertaken so carelessly in a hostile environment. - ElGanyan, on 04/12/2009, -2/+4Been to Morocco a couple times. Own a kif pipe. Have smoked myself silly there (kif is really harsh if you're not a regular smoker). I assure you, kif =/= hash. Buried for a number of instances of misinformation.
Also, MSNBC... wtf?! - dyslexicsUNTIED, on 04/12/2009, -4/+6Are they seriously telling people to go find some Ayahuasca? Wow, how irresponsible of them, that ***** can ***** you up for life.
- RatatRatR, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2I was surprised, yes.
- Spoomeister, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2wait wat? you got x? where can i score some x, man
- je12u, on 04/13/2009, -0/+2One word...Salvia Divinorum..
That's comedy gold. - Technopundit, on 04/12/2009, -1/+3I would have expected it from Rush Limbaugh
- RatatRatR, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Oh, absolutely no question about that. As McKenna said, the first step on the psychedelic trip is the library.
- inactive, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2Glad you approve man. This quote is not a NiallGriff original and is from Hunter S. Thompson, Unfortunately I was not able to find the body of work it is from, but I encourage you to read anything from him that you can get your hands on.
- RatatRatR, on 04/12/2009, -1/+2They didn't say kif was the same as hash. They only mentioned hash when they talked about making sure that you're really buying kif.
- daqq, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1That guy made my pizza once.
- RatatRatR, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I was thinking the same, leontes, and I'm glad to see your post. Though with some of these substances, I can certainly see how one might think "when will I ever get a chance to do this again, especially with no fear of being arrested?"
- atomicj, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Cool. Thanks :)
- inactive, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1smoke a bong, seriously..
- Technopundit, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I always wake up with bugs in my teeth.
- laofmoonster, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1It's not for sleeping.
Check http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=32271
tl;dr, you will see spiders, scorpions, and freak out - inactive, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1Did ~ 1 gram once. 1000 mg. A few times, really. This was after I worked up my tolerance... SO DON'T TAKE 40 PILLS YOUR FIRST TIME.
You don't see spiders or anything. It's just a constant hell of thinking if your heart is still working for about 5 hours. - MacEnvy, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I've had kava kava and was unimpressed. For a sedative (or mildly opioid) effect, kratom beats it hands down.
- superflier, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1I like pot.
- Janv1er, on 04/12/2009, -1/+2Don't mess with Ayahuasca, it'll ***** you up.
- GraveDigger, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I can't believe I've never thought of that... kudos to you, sir.
- canchin, on 04/13/2009, -0/+1Careful talking about Salvinia. Right now it's not registered as an illegal drug, but the closer the "War on People Using Their Free Will to use the Plant Marijuana as The People See Fit" comes to ending it will be the *New* illegal substance the corrupt politicians in Washington use to fill the prisons back up.
So...Shhhh...about Salvinia. - diablo75, on 04/12/2009, -0/+12300 Euros (not including airfare) to go to Brazil and take Ayahuasca? Ripoff. You'll get a better deal through this site (and I know you have to email to get a estimate but I'm pretty sure it's the cheaper alternative you're looking for): http://www.sachavacay.org
- UnholyLeech, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1I've got one word for you all... Salvia Divinorum. For about five minutes you will go to mars, travel time, get sucked through a straw and then eaten by a peanut. Insanity may vary.
- ElGanyan, on 04/12/2009, -0/+1"Hashish in Morocco
The buzz: In Morocco, hashish is to marijuana what jam is to fruit: delicious, concentrated, and readily available no matter what time of year. Known as kif, this North African delicacy is technically illegal..."
The title and first sentence are talking about hashish. The second sentence starts off "Known as kif..."
How else could you read that? - X9001, on 04/12/2009, -1/+1I mixed it with weed once...(just skip around and read the longer posts)
