- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6It should be a Baldwin. It doesn't really matter which one, but Stephen would be an awesome choice.
- rothgar, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7Things I learned: I am never going to own a home in South Pasadena :(
- antoniuk, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6It was carved to destroy evidence of the location of Cibola. Thankfully Benjamin Gates found it. Now if we could only find what is on page 47.
- jerstud56, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6Good ol' South Dakota....my home state. It may not have many people...and when I say "I'm from South Dakota" to people on the interwebs and they're like...where?? - it's just good to see a part of it on the front page.
Not cool that we stole part of it though. We're ***** here. Don't ***** with us.
Fun facts: (not sure if they still apply?)
No horses are allowed into Fountain Inn unless they are wearing pants.
It is illegal to lie down and fall asleep in a cheese factory.
Movies that show police officers being struck, beaten, or treated in an offensive manner are forbidden.
If there are more than 5 Native Americans on your property you may shoot them.
Spearfish, SD: If three or more Indians are walking down the street together, they can be considered a war party and fired upon. - Dragular, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5You're both wrong. They're the fossilized heads of our former Presidents, proving that giants roamed the planet until roughly 1919.

- atlasdugged, on 05/26/2009, -2/+6I think it's time to add a new face on Mount Rushmore...who should it be?
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+4That $10 is good for an entire year. Although if you don't live in the area or go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every year, you probably won't use it again.
- jmcneilly, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4Isn't it obvious?
Elvis. - cam0man, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3I always thought it was created by erosion
- darkciti2, on 05/28/2009, -0/+311. King Solomon's gold mine is located inside of it.
- DougUpndown, on 05/28/2009, -0/+214. You can Bungee out of one of the noses. Into a Tar Pit.
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2If you go there, there's a trail that leads to a museum where they show a lot of the tools that were used to carve the mountain, and the blasting techniques they used to get the faces the way they are.
- frankenfag, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2.
- JDParshall, on 05/28/2009, -0/+214. There was supposed to be a huge time capsule on the summit behind the the heads. The vault's here, but it was never filled.
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Given the amount of Indians that live in Spearfish and Rapid City, they had better have changed that last one.
- noangelcame, on 05/28/2009, -0/+213. They were going to give George Washington a suit to go with his head,. as you can see he's got a little bit of a collar going on,. but. they decided they weren't as good at carving suits,. so they never finished it.
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Your point wasn't much better. "Oh look, some of the leaders of our country did the same ***** that most of the landowners did back then. They shouldn't be on a mountain because of that."
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2In response to my revisionist history comment, I am merely of the mind that you cannot view a man's every action objectively from a perspective that is skewed by time or culture. I am not making excuses for these people, so you both misinterpret me. I don't agree with it, but Inuit women are raped on a whim, and if a victim complains, they are kicked out of the community. And people will be scoffing at the gay marriage issue in 200 years when it will undoubtedly be legal. And then of course your great grandson will be there to point out how dumb Obama was on this issue even though he may very well be on Mount Rushmore someday. The boundaries of culture and time do not grant you some priveleged lens to view others with.
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2You are correct, sir. Although the Black Hills were a sacred place to the Native Americans of the area too.
Harney Peak is also the Tallest Point in the US East of the Rocky Mountains. - OSXpert, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1Now somewhere in the black mountain hills of dakota, there lived a young boy...
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2I tried to read what you wrote with objectivity, but all I saw was bitterness. You made no attempt to make a point, and I don't think I can respond in any way except "Welcome to the machine".
It was either that or "Coke is it!"
"M-I-C-K-E-Y"? - Erin12110, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1Had no idea about Jefferson being a do-over... Interesting stuff!
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1My "point" if there ever is one on the Internet, is that just "saying what is true" isn't often welcome when it's completely off topic.
How about every time someone mentions Obama, I talk about his drug use? I wouldn't be making any point, I would just be saying what is true. Would that be welcome? No. - xcvbn, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1"It costs $10 to park". The only place I have ever been to that looks exactly the same from afar as it does up close. Strange as f. Park to $upport. Dont expect anything different than when driving by.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1I'm sick of revisionist history because if you have a brain, you should know that all men are products of their time. If you think every historical figure was perfect, you're an fool, and we don't need people like you butting in and highlighting completely off topic negatives while ignoring the things that make them great men. I love Howard Zinn, I love to hear the other side of the story (as thinly sourced as it usually is), but I don't enjoy the listening to the one fag in the back who has to point out the bad every single time these great men of history are brought up.
Then again, your original post was probably just a troll. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -2/+33 of them were slave owners and one of them was a liar.
- MacBandit, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2Eistein
- egnsd, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2Harney Peak is the tallest mountain in the area.
Pretty sure Bear Butte is the "holy land" you're referring to. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1You can say what you think is right and wrong, but you can't say what you would have done in their place.
- GoodOldNeon, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1the sculptures are a "bad thing." this is desecrated holy land for the sioux
- s73v3r, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1There's a trail you can walk on there that will take you to a small lookout point where you can see up President Washington's nose.
- KahRahTay, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1people in jail have received a trial
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1You two ***** (jsmith212600 and s73v3r), who have the best screen names ever, by the way, are mistaken in the impression that I was trying to make any kind of point about anything other than saying what is true. The most hilarious part about this exchange is that revisionism was mentioned in the same breath as an attempted excuse for what is a known fact. You're ***** stupid, jsmith212600.
- JakeW, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1He's not bitter, he's just realistic.
- nepidae, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1i'm a liar too. in fact everything i say is a lie.
- mdavidangst, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1funny how they forgot to add that "Mt Rushmore" is the tallest (i think) mountain in the area, and was the center of the holy land for the Indians that were originally there - so the "sculpture" is pretty much a big middle finger to the Indians and desecration on their life..
- D3L3T3D, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1Vandalism
- arnoldlayne123, on 05/28/2009, -0/+0yea, its vandalism!
- rpgmakr, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1JFK.
- Technopundit, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1You seem bitter.
Did you mail a check to Nigeria? - nepidae, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1sorry but the native americans did not originally come from america. actually I think I'm going to claim some random place as my holy land so I can get sympathy instead of disgust when I whinge about it.
- SpiritOfRock, on 05/27/2009, -4/+4Mt. Rushmore was sculpted by a Klan leader? Well, I guess bad people can do nice things. Or at least, pretty cool-looking things.
