- anarcurt, on 06/21/2009, -6/+129Not the Williams 'sisters'.
- wunderdog, on 06/21/2009, -3/+87Two of the toughest guys in tennis.
- FJRRulz, on 06/21/2009, -2/+77No, they're there to sell abstinence.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -9/+64And there's a problem with this how?
- Rell812, on 06/21/2009, -8/+58Yeah, every single female athlete is just there to be sexually attractive. The exceptional talent and skill at their sport is apparently just something they do on the side.
But seriously, wtf kind of comment is this to make? There's bound to be a few cute athletes, and all the physical demands of professional sports forces them to be very fit...it's almost inevitable they become sex symbols. - airwalkery2k, on 06/21/2009, -0/+42I always thought sex sold itself.
- Nitrodist88, on 06/21/2009, -1/+22Not really, it's a comment on their sex appeal.
- jayjayjoni, on 06/21/2009, -2/+23Dailymail = FoxNews of the UK
- sithyiscool, on 06/21/2009, -4/+23So?
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -2/+18Anna didn't suck she was top 5 in the world for several years, reached many quarter and semi finals and won majors in doubles.
She made a lot more money from modeling/celebrity and that eventually detracted from her career, then she got injured and retired to I'd bet a pretty happy life.
I don't even like tennis and I know that, get on board the clue train. it's pulling out. - FishHammer, on 06/21/2009, -2/+14I applaud the submitter for finding a thumbnail that compliments the headline so well. Often times thumbnails are of an unrelated and nonsensical variety, but this is a great turning point for Digg.
- EGOvoruhk, on 06/21/2009, -6/+18How is the truth a crazed media comment?
- vorda, on 06/21/2009, -0/+12When sex becomes self propelled entity we are all *****.
- damack, on 06/21/2009, -0/+9If sex sells I seriously doubt many of the people making money through tennis are concerned including the female tennis players.
He termed it wrong but I think the sexy aspect of female tennis players is defintely a factor in their popularity and the popularity of womens tennis. - lex0nyc, on 06/21/2009, -4/+13Look, two horses!
- isunktheship, on 06/22/2009, -1/+9Idk why they let Klingons play...
- jazzmess, on 06/21/2009, -1/+8People do like female athletes to be sexy, and part of their appeal is that they are sexy. What he's missing is that the same is true for male athletes.
Do you think every woman and gay man who has a poster of Beckham on their wall has it there only in admiration of his athleticism? And I suppose this is also the reason there are nude Beckham photos, because naked ass really highlights one's soccer skills. *commence to rolling of eyes* - navidb, on 06/21/2009, -5/+12They aren't just there for sex, but they are featured on TV over a much more skilled male (with a last name not federer, roddick, nadal) primarily for sex.
- FJRRulz, on 06/21/2009, -3/+10No, Anna Kournikova was there to sell sex. She sucked and never won a major. Sharapova is really hot, but she actually has the skill too.
- moxley, on 06/21/2009, -2/+8Well, he's certainly right about girls like Kournakova, because while she was a professional player, she never won a tournament AFAIK and was not quite at the level of, say Venus or Serena - both of whom are there because of their skill.
But she made a career, is hot and probably has a lot more money than 99% of those reading this. - Luvboat, on 06/21/2009, -3/+9Well, I'm sold.
- rwiggum, on 06/22/2009, -1/+7"He concluded by saying 'right guys?' and elbowing his friends while bobbing his eyebrows up and down."
- Mannyy, on 06/21/2009, -4/+9i'm buying
- vorda, on 06/21/2009, -2/+7Michael Stich - the founder of all knowledge.
- KilGil27, on 06/21/2009, -2/+7I think he's just mad no one will sell any sex to him
- hipnerd, on 06/21/2009, -1/+6Is that their fault, or ours?
- RatatRatR, on 06/21/2009, -0/+5No doubt.
- atgmac, on 06/21/2009, -3/+8You have to assume that everything the daily mail says is a crazed media comment.
- Comanchette, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Maybe the only way women are able to get any coverage playing sports is by having sex appeal. After all, if a woman wants to play football or tennis, most people would watch male sports because they are thought to be more intense and the athletes are supposedly more talented. How many people watch IWFL vs. Lingerie Football League? The only way most women get noticed athletically is if they are also attractive.
- darknecross, on 06/22/2009, -2/+6This comment made my day.
Bravo sir. - Wisgary, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5I'll buy it.
- anarcurt, on 06/22/2009, -1/+5Ugly knows no skin tone.
...and sexist against who? Men? I mean it is quite obvious that they are either transvestites or shooting more 'roids than Jose Canseco in the early 90's. - MakanGuru, on 06/21/2009, -2/+6I guess he got rejected when he tried to hit on one of them?
- Hoogs, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4A word of advice: Don't click "Enlarge" on the picture in the article.
- Loopdude, on 06/22/2009, -1/+5These women are the fittest people on the planet, what are they supposed to look like BESIDES pure sexiness? Fat and chunky? Unhealthy and bony? It should be no secret that good, superior physical genes are kind of necessary to play such a difficult sport, and that good genes translate to good looks. Even if they were to wear pants and shawls covering every inch of their body except face, they would still look stunning. Anyone whose ever seen these pro tennis women players in person will agree, they really are like the most attractive group women on the planet, or at least easily one of the most (their entire, face, thickness to their figure are proportionally different than a typical woman, which is probably why they were able to play in the highest levels of tennis in the first place)
Same thing with the men, think about all the men like Roger Federer, Marat Safin, Nadal, James Blake, Andy Roddick, and pretty much everyone in the top 50 are all drooled over by women. Now that I think of it, can anyone really name any very unpleasant looking characters, because I can't really think of any. - EagleReloaded, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5Whilst Anna Kournikova may never have won a single's grand slam title, she did win 2 grand slams in doubles with Martina Hingis (Australian Open in 1999 and 2002), and they were ranked #1 in the world for a while, so I think it's a little harsh to write her off completely.
As for Stich's comments, he's retarded, totally agree with jazzmess - numerous male athletes have posed nude, done underwear advertisements, and so on. Who cares? - vorda, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5This all people regardless of sex are there to make money for themselves and for bunch of other people. It's about money. Sex is money. Win.
- mohsenxp, on 06/21/2009, -3/+6DailyMail, the founder of all news not worthy of being news.
For those that don't know, DailyMail in its prime is what Fox News is at its lowest. - inactive, on 06/21/2009, -2/+5The daily mail didn't say it a former player did, jebus christ.
- JMilton, on 06/21/2009, -4/+7Michael Stich AKA Captain Obvious.
- luxliving1, on 06/27/2009, -0/+3I agree and think many female tennis stars try to be successful with their looks, and not their tennis talent.
Sexy Maria Sharapova is a perfect example.
http://www.thelifeofluxury.com/maria-sharapova-sex ... - Gibletoid, on 06/21/2009, -1/+4They just use sex to sell tennis.
- lex0nyc, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Didn't we buy it from them? They're not going to give us much if we try to return it, they already have stuff just like it.
- 4321234, on 06/21/2009, -2/+4Athletes at this level have a lot more than just sex appeal to offer to penis.
Sorry, I meant tennis. - ericdano, on 06/21/2009, -1/+3Exactly.....so???
- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2Daily Fail, ignore
- PenisBreath, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2or are they using tennis to sell sex?
- cms04t, on 06/22/2009, -2/+3There is nothing sexy about the Williams sisters, but then again they are actually good at tennis.
- sibos, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1That was a facetious remark. It says he's a champ in the first sentence, and anyways I recognized his name.
However, he probably is on the outside amongst most tennis fans. I know I don't tune into women's tennis just for sex, since there are plenty of other places (other shows, sites, movies, etc.) to get that sort of stuff more directly, and clearly the people who shell out money to see them play live feel the same way. If they only like someone such as Maria Sharapova for her looks, why not just buy a magazine with her on the cover, or stay at home where you might see commercials with her too for free?
So just to explain, I realize that he probably watches a ton of tennis, but he's not representative of most fans. - factotum218, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1god bless 'em
