- ophello, on 10/02/2009, -0/+13Why the ***** don't we just rely on high-speed cameras to make calls when its on the line? Why the ***** does there need to be ANY human interpretation at all?
I don't know why this bothers me so much. A ***** video pretty much proves the point either way. - TobiasParker, on 10/02/2009, -1/+14He isn't a troll. He is a computer generated algorithm designed to learn human speech and thought patterns and use that knowledge to take over the world.
- ElAmo, on 10/02/2009, -2/+12john mcenroe is badass
- ugacrew, on 10/02/2009, -1/+10YOU CAN NOT BE SERIOUS!
- sigmaman2, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I WILL SHOVE THIS ***** BALL DOWN YOUR ***** THROAT!
...but I'm not threatening to kill you. - lolwatermelon, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4"He is a computer generated algorithm designed to learn human speech and thought patterns and use that knowledge to take over the world."
He's doing a poor job of it. I've seen his posts for quite some time now, and he still uses commas instead of apostrophes, uses the wrong form of words, and he spells words phonetically in such a way that it would be impossible to do so without doing it on purpose.
Even a dumb person would be able to figure out what he's doing wrong. Plus, the fact that his name is 'syntax' and he's a grammar moran? Couldn't be more obvious. - lolwatermelon, on 10/02/2009, -6/+10How have you not been banned yet? Your obvious trolling attempts are quite obvious.
- errik03, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4Also in soccer is almost impossible for the linesmen to perfectly line up with the second to last defender, you'll think you are lined up but you can be up to 7 feet off. I'm a referee and we did this exercise where we put cones on the field and were told to line up to them. only about 20% of us were correct even on cones that were only 18 feet away.
- offrdbandit, on 10/02/2009, -0/+3Because high-speed cameras can't make the completely unintelligible "AAAAHHHH!!!!!" sound that keeps the spectators awake.
- syntaxgs, on 10/02/2009, -4/+7just becosue some one dis-,Agree with you doesn,t mean it a good thing too call them troll
it a diffrent thing I look it up! I still re spect you,re opinon thoug but it not some thing that like - ophello, on 10/02/2009, -0/+3Yeah but feet have a tendency to block lasers as well as balls. We don't want the player's foot to set it off.
- d3dm, on 10/02/2009, -1/+4YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!
- selphishnerd, on 10/02/2009, -1/+3The call that upset her wasn't a ball, it was actually her foot. She supposedly stepped over the line before she served, which in tennis is a "foot fault." Whether she actually did or not is difficult to tell, even in super slow motion.
- jrosko1, on 10/07/2009, -0/+2What 'upset' her was that she was losing. You could see it the whole match.
- miggyb, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2He passes the turing test if the human reader has lost all hope for humanity.
- b1kerguy, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2...no offense intended
- TheBlargh, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2fine! you make a better computer generated algorithm!
- GusterBear, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2Lasers could do the trick. Break the beam, a light goes off.
- errik03, on 10/02/2009, -0/+2Just tradition, that is all
- cyclops69, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1FTA
'Without any delay in the brain, the referees would be equally likely to misjudge balls that are in and balls that are out. Instead, the researchers found that 70 of the errors -- or 84% -- were made when balls were called "out" but were actually in.'
There is actually a scientific point here. Should be judged subjectively? Think about gymnastics, diving etc. that rely almost entirely on human judgment. - b1kerguy, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1it's ok to admit, you couldn't even see the second cone, most refs are blind
- b1kerguy, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1there would have to be something on/in the ball itself, roughly like the "don't shoplift" things at the store, you dont set it off, but a beacon set to the correct frequency will
- AMD64MM, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1I am scared for humanity.
- b1kerguy, on 10/02/2009, -0/+1it's just over 2%
but 83 calls could be the entire championship game (not likely, but the numbers work) - BadHandMaca, on 10/02/2009, -1/+2This is why we need robots to do this job! My friendly tennis matches almost always end in fist fights.
- jrosko1, on 10/07/2009, -0/+1Would you want to wait and see that PONG graphic after every point?
- delinf, on 11/01/2009, -0/+0I agree with you
- MerchantofPanic, on 10/02/2009, -2/+2Or you could accept human 'umpiire' error is just part of the game and move on.
- moduc, on 10/02/2009, -1/+1Most challenges are wrong. The judges are more right then wrong. The study screwed up.
- proficient, on 10/02/2009, -2/+1Sick deal. :O
- GRVeee2, on 10/02/2009, -5/+3same
- CourageWulf, on 10/02/2009, -9/+7I'm just here to Digg up snytaxgs.
- Karagoose, on 10/02/2009, -4/+2Tell this to Serena Williams.
- peoplerstoopid, on 10/02/2009, -4/+1out of over 4000 points only 83 calls were made in error...doesn't sound so bad, in fact it makes it sound like the officials are pretty damn good. This is not a major issue in the sport...drop it
- syntaxgs, on 10/02/2009, -23/+10I don,t under stand I pretty sure it easy lee fix by more the slow motion camrea
