It's just like the stories of those kids with really high IQs -- they develop early but they don't peak any higher than the average individual.

  • PHovey, on 02/10/2009, -1/+1I was a "prodigy" when I was 6 and now I don't play. In my eyes, this is a waste of money on the parent's part. Let the kid do what she wants to do, but don't force her to play tennis. There's a lot you can do with hand-eye coordination besides that.

    Poor kid...hope her parents have a good fall back plan in case she isn't ranked world #1 by the time she is 12.

To the few who say that she is being forced into this, the best players, Federer, Sampras, Graf, etc, were never forced into it.

    For her sake, I hope she finds a better coach and soon. Rick Macci for all his past accolades as a coach, totally blew it with Monique Viele. Who? Exactly. He hyped her up way past Kournikova and others and she was nothing, less than nothing. Run kid, run fast.
