Roddick Gives Connors Grief at Press Conference
hosted.ap.org — After today's match, Roddick fielded a question about Connors - to the effect that great players may not always make great coaches. "Well, I don't know if his athleticism was the greatest ..." Roddick started out. Conners piped up, Hey, take it easy!"

- dmoney06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Don't blame your coach cuz you lost, you douchebag.
- MaXPL, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1As much as I hated Rodick in the past, i'm glad he made a recovery.
As for anything he said to Connors, who cares cause Connors sucks anyway. - josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Roddick and Conners sound like Schwarzenegger movie characters...Hence the curiosity.
- john2kx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2it's difficult to figure out the context of that exchange... were they joking around or being completely serious? Was Roddick smiling when he said that?
- kefs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1no video?
- kubak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4rodick should be greatful to connors, or else he would still be ranked 10
- Derpeder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0um....this article was about Roger and Tiger.
- jeru48, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3read farther down... you'll see it (although I agree with your seniment)
- Derpeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I know I read the whole thing but what... the last two sentances. Of course thats all Roddick really deserves is two sentances in a tennis article including Federer.

- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1maybe I'm missing it, but i don't see how "Well, I don't know if his athleticism was the greatest..." implies that great players don't always make great coaches.
Even though it's obviously intuitively true that great players aren't always going to make great coaches, but I don't see how one can infer that from the quote. - audioslavery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Roddick is overrated, he played his best tennis ever at the US Open this year but honestly, why do people root for this guy.
He is immature on the court, complaining about calls, good lord conners is Agassi's old coach, this is just a low blow by Roddick, its completely uncalled for.
The only American player that is truly respectable is James Blake, he's a good guy.
I still miss Agassi more than anything =[- arnott7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1True, and James Blake put up a better fight with Federer than Roddick. It should have been Blake vs Federer in the Final.

This was Roddick's first Grand Slam appearance since he placed himself under the tutelage of Jimmy Connors. “I don't know if his athleticism was the greatest, but his heart was the greatest and his mind was the greatest,” Roddick said of Connors.
