- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -1/+14i think it would be hilarious if at age 17 this girl just says "***** it" and applies to a business college.
- Bic823, on 07/08/2009, -2/+14Nervous breakdown from the kid is pretty much a given.
- mogdor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7Hope her parents let her have some sort of childhood instead of just raising her to be a cash cow.
- joshmoney, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7"I'm gonna, I'm gonna still pway tanigs, Wimbuldan, Strain Opan, Frensh Opan, and US Opan."
-Mia Lines - kkiran, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5Selfish parents is all I can say. Tennis practice when 4 years old may hamper her childhood.
- bigthree, on 07/08/2009, -0/+5I remember when Capriati fell apart at 16 after being a child phenom out of that program
- bringitontimx, on 07/08/2009, -1/+5I DONT WANNA!
- hasslinthehoff, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4Doesn't getting served mean you got your ass handed to you? Probably might want to change that title... maybe.
- mrmann14, on 07/08/2009, -1/+4There's something extremely creepy about this entire article.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3eventually... yup. shes only 4 though, the weight wont come down for at least another 5-10 years...
- winguero, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3Yes, but will she grow up to be just as pretty as the heap of women's tennis stars out there now? There was this whole WSJ article on that over the weekend, about how only the pretty ones made Centre Court matches at Wimby this year.
- cabdirazzaq, on 07/08/2009, -2/+4I admit, I came here only to see the wonder we call pedobear.
- NBCLocal, on 07/08/2009, -2/+4"The first thing Mia ever saw coming out of her mother was a tennis ball. I used to wave the ball above her head and put ping pong paddles in her hand and work on her motion"
WHAT?! If I were the Mother I would have had a thing or two to say about that. - rft3rd, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2ya think?
This is just bad. let the kid have a childhood. Already sending her around the world for tennis lessons? Must be nice. Daddy sounds like he has $$ in his eyes. - TheMu, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3I made a comment before someone posted Pedobear?
Seriously? - mogdor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Well the only thing you've told everyone is that your dad said "I hope some day you earn a double Ph.D.", and then you called him an ***** for that. What do you want, a gold star for your masterpiece of a comment?
- OLTP, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2"The first thing Mia ever saw coming out of her mother was a tennis ball."
hehehe - fxu1989, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2You can already hear the grunting... when are they gonna ban the excessive grunting in women's tennis.
It distracts me from watching their boobs. - blackinthmiddle, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Well if your kid has talent, you've gotta give that kid every opportunity to realize said talent. I agree, however, that too many kids who have "talent" land up suicidal because they never lived up to people's expectations. However, the bio of many celebrities is crazy.
Read Beyonce's story. Basically, her dad quit his six figure job and sold the house so that he could manage her full time and live off of the equity of the sold house. Mom thought it was crazy and left for her mom. Imagine Beyonce trying to make it, realizing that her success also meant her parents getting back together! - chrillen, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Maybe her dad loves tennis?
- mlvassallo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I'd be saying "Cha-ching".
- eros5656, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2i was hoping to find a "she can play with my balls anytime" pedobear =/
- woody168, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I noticed that too, what the hell is that about? teaching 4 year olds to grunt already? talk about teaching your kids shady sportsmanship early...
- bf01, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2Her forehand is *****. But her backhand is better than mine.
- Chapman9110, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1No, I think it is Rick Macci.
- MooKooJoe, on 07/25/2009, -0/+1Andre Agassi was raised pretty much the same way, and he turned out alright. Quite alright I'd say.
- zeth006, on 07/08/2009, -2/+3Sorry but that's a bit too much even though you're making a reference to another tennis star. Buried.
- Auraness, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Burnout.
- mogdor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1I'd like to see the hissy fit her exploitative dad would have.
- kkiran, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Bad a$$ daddy!
- sizzzzlerz, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1If she grows up half as well adjusted as the Williams girls given the father they put up with, she'll be fortunate. That being the case, no 4 year should have to be subjected to this kind of treatment in any case. She's a frickin' kid. Let her grow up a bit first.
- mogdor, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I dugg you down because I seriously have no idea what you just said.
- HBZ55, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1She seems pretty into it. I don't think she will suffer from a nervous breakdown playing something she loves. As long as they don't push her, it's probably all good.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1hahaha you know something about tennis
- mgross, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Nick Bollettieri is the name of the coach. I think Sharapova came to him with no money when from Russia when she was 8 years old. He seems to know what he's doing.
- mogdor, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I don't think you get that you haven't said anything about your dad forcing anything on you. What did he do, tie you up, throw you in the car, and drag you to a university of his choice? The only thing you said is he hopes you get a degree in college........what's so bad about that? Obviously he did something to piss you off, but you haven't said what it was! Tell us the bad thing he did and maybe you will make more sense.

- mlvassallo, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1I can see her doing really well on the Cway Cwort of the Frensh Opan.
- mikehole, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1She saw a ball coming out of her mother?
From which orface?
That's a little weird! - kaushalvaidya, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0Pretty good, but I don't think there is much predictive value in this. Hopefully for women's tennis she'll be good - they need some stars.
- flamesrule, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1First off, it's Rick Macci, not Rick Macy. Secondly, Macci lost all credibility with Monique Viele who he claimed would be number one in the world who played a grand total of 16 matches on the WTA Tour from 1999-2002 and went 5-11. Her highest ranking? 817 in the world and that was 9 years ago.
Macci aside, it's good that she's out playing at 4 as long as she isn't out there hours on end. European players are out just as young if not younger. Steffi Graf had a racket in her hand before she could walk. Hingis was winning trophies bigger than her. I always thought the worst thing they ever got rid of was the 12 and under junior division. Let the kids have fun but tennis is a sport where you peak at 25-27 and retire around 30. It's a young persons sport and if you start playing it at 12-14, it has passed you by. - emjaysea, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0My point is, no parent should go around saying ***** like that. The dad in this article wants us to believe she'll have a choice in what she wants to be, meanwhile he's stuffing tennis rackets down her throat. He's sick.
- deusny, on 07/08/2009, -1/+0its sad in that the first few things shes gonna go grow up with is "balls"
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -2/+1a lot of times pedobear is funny, this time its not.
- ricksickle, on 07/08/2009, -1/+0Even if womens tennis of today wasn't some softcore porn circus this would still be rather sad and pathetic. wtf parents, let the kid enjoy childhood without pressures.. its the only fkn time in life you don't have to worry about chit..
- emjaysea, on 07/08/2009, -1/+0I think it's funny I'm getting negative diggs for this--you guys don't even know my dad!
- emjaysea, on 07/08/2009, -4/+0Reminds me of my dad when he said to me, age 9, "I hope some day you earn a double Ph.D." Yeah, dad, no pressure. *****.
