- novenator, on 07/05/2009, -0/+132As Roddick once said about an earlier match against Federer, "I threw everything I had against him including the kitchen sink. He came back with a tub."
- Crnii, on 07/05/2009, -19/+130Both deserves to win.
- moolfs, on 07/05/2009, -8/+114One of the best games in history
- superman1023, on 07/05/2009, -5/+105If it was anybody else Roddick would have won hands down, but Federer happens
- novenator, on 07/05/2009, -5/+85Federer won the epic match 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14.
Roddick put on a zen like performance throughout the tournament, beating another classic 5 setter against a focused and resurgent former world #1 Lleyton Hewitt (Australia) and beating the Scottish rising star Andy Murray.
The title gives Roger Federer (SWI) a record 15th Grand Slam win, besting the record of 14 set by Pete Sampras (USA).
Congratulations Fed, you're a humble champion and a credit to your sport - 88dkanor, on 07/05/2009, -3/+82Now Roddick won't get crazy congratulatory sex from his ridiculously hot wife. Just crazy sympathy sex.
- hmunkey, on 07/05/2009, -3/+78Roddick blew everyone away. You could tell Federer went in expecting a routine match, but walked out stunned.
- gnp107, on 07/05/2009, -6/+74All I can say is well done Federer. #15 FTW
although Roddick really deserved this, fantastic match! - nenadsuperzmaj, on 07/05/2009, -5/+63Roger Federer. Tennis player. Gentleman. Champion.
He is what every athlete should be. Modest, hard-working, a perfectionist, and he lets his tennis do the talking.
Top man! - dexter311, on 07/05/2009, -3/+61*deserved
- mdp8889, on 07/05/2009, -3/+46The best I've ever seen Roddick play, guy freakin had less unforced than Federer
- Sleepyhead157, on 07/05/2009, -0/+35I'm not a huge Tennis follower but love watching these games. Roddick played a heck of a game but Roger was just a little bit better.
- coolgizmoz, on 07/05/2009, -0/+33 Federer won Wimbledon, Roddick won the hearts.
- bruin8uclap, on 07/05/2009, -1/+33Federer was betterer
- Mac454, on 07/05/2009, -1/+33And his wife is...... refreshingly ordinary looking. No trophy wife there.
- velocity92c, on 07/05/2009, -1/+32That was the best 5th set I've ever watched.
- dexter311, on 07/05/2009, -1/+32What an epic match... By the end I didn't care who won, both were deserving of the title after an unbelievable performance like that!
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -2/+32Federer is the greatest player on the planet, i am glad for him
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -3/+32Roddick played great, Federer was little more better
- swraman, on 07/05/2009, -1/+27Too bad for roddick. The match was epic.
Hope he can win another slam before he retires! - 88dkanor, on 07/05/2009, -3/+28Roddickulous.
- hmunkey, on 07/05/2009, -0/+24How was he not humble? Sure he could've congratulated Roddick more, but seeing as he was in that exact position last year it's not like he didn't know the pain.
And a lot was probably going through his mind, he just became the greatest of all time. - Joghobs, on 07/06/2009, -0/+23You can have sex with your wife when she's pregnant.
- fuffyk, on 07/05/2009, -0/+21Roddick looked frekin pissed at Federer.
when he was talking and complimenting Roddick and told him that he went through the same pain last year at wimbledon!
last years match was epic!! - extravagant, on 07/05/2009, -2/+22i just watched the match, good job to both of them..... they both deserve it
- HyperJack, on 07/05/2009, -0/+17Federer was betterest
- tailfly, on 07/05/2009, -0/+15You proofs that you are the worst speller ever!
- fuffyk, on 07/05/2009, -0/+14Federer resembles pete sampras alot while he is playing tennis both calm, cool and humble.
Federer was trying to make Roddick feel better telling of his last year defeat! but people can judge according to whatever emotional state they are when all is being said and heard.
Federer made history thats twice in my lifetime !! thats awesome! - ImyK, on 07/05/2009, -0/+13*thanitude.
- Mac454, on 07/05/2009, -1/+14I liked the part during the trophy ceremony where Federer tried to console Roddick by saying he was in his shoes last year, so he knows how it feels, and Roddick (half-jokingly, half-serious?) shot back (paraphrasing) "But you've already won it five times!"
It was funny, but you could definitely see the incredulous look on Roddick's face. He seemed a bit put off by that.
I know it's impossible to quantify, but Roddick seemed to want that tournament more than Federer, considering the strong possibility Roddick may not get there again. - slaystench, on 07/05/2009, -0/+12If you listened to his interview after the match he said the exact opposite. lol
- bpoteat, on 07/05/2009, -1/+13*deservicitude.
- nenadsuperzmaj, on 07/05/2009, -0/+11Well, look at who is his clothes supplier. I very much doubt that he woke up one day and said: "You know what, I think I'm going to wear white sweaters with gold accessories." I'm not saying he is forced to wear that, but there's to much money involved so that us, "the common people" could imagine the situation he's in...
Don't want to sound like a blinkered fanboy, but Federer just doesn't strike me as that kind of bloke... - thejackyl, on 07/05/2009, -1/+12Federer was most better
- compulsive1, on 07/05/2009, -1/+11Sampras' competition seemed stronger because Pete wasn't as dominant as Roger is.
Sampras lost to absolute journeymen throughout his career especially on clay.
Roger is by far the most skilled and most complete player tennis has ever seen. - bruin8uclap, on 07/05/2009, -0/+10*than
- cuoops, on 07/05/2009, -2/+12I loved Federer's pimped out gold and white tennis outfit he put on after that match. Embroidered and with #15 on the back.
- MrScotchBoy, on 07/05/2009, -1/+10this battle was truly epic...roddick hung around..but federer took the title....great job to both players!
- dysonlu, on 07/05/2009, -0/+9Meanwhile, the women's final was an uneventful straight-setter. And they got the same pay...
- kavlo26, on 07/05/2009, -1/+10Both played very well! Hopefully Roddick can win US Open with this level of gameplay.
- hmunkey, on 07/05/2009, -2/+10Well, Federer wasn't gonna say "I thought I'd destroy Roddick, and while it was harder than expected I did."
- louiebaur, on 07/05/2009, -1/+9Great match!
- bpoteat, on 07/05/2009, -1/+9Less winners too though. When it all adds up, Federer won. Hated to see it. I really wanted Roddick to pull it off.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -2/+9That's funny, because I watched the post-match interviews and Federer had nothing but glowing compliments about Roddick's play and how hard he had to fight to keep up with him. Smug *****? Guess you lost a lot on that match, eh?
- omarlassan, on 07/05/2009, -9/+16Even federer cant... his wife already pregnant
- chaos7, on 07/05/2009, -1/+8i wanted the final set to go to 32-30....or maybe even triple digits
- Crimsoneer, on 07/05/2009, -0/+7and with an utterly awesome jacket.
- IUAndar, on 07/05/2009, -0/+6I loved the post-match interview where Federer told Roddick to keep his head up because he had his share of struggles at Wimbeldon too.
Roddick's response? What are you talking about, you won it 5 times (up until now)! - Trumpetman4eva, on 07/05/2009, -1/+7He played "really *****" yet had 51 aces and over 100 winners? Who are you? God?
- BraveQuail, on 07/05/2009, -0/+6and Nadal...If Nadal was in the championship then it probably wouldn't have been a roddick v. federer final. Just shows how competitive the men's game is now. Roddick did play amazing and hopefully he'll continue at this level and he'll eventually win another open
