- inactive, on 11/30/2007, -0/+3Switzerland is no tennis powerhouse. They only have Federer, and it takes more to win than just one person.
- inactive, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2Not unless Federer has something to say about this.
- siddhartha1138, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2Two girls one davis cup? FTW!?
- KyleGoetz, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2You clearly don't know what the Davis Cup is if you think (1) that it's a simple tournament, and (2) if you think one match is all it takes. In Davis Cup, it's two 5-man teams against each other over 2 days, and you have to lose THREE matches to advance. For Switzerland to beat the US (impossible here because US is playing Russia in the finals tomorrow), Federer would have to win two back-to-back singles matches AND play on the doubles team and win. That's three matches in two days he'd have to win, and in doubles he'd have to beat the Bryan twins, who have basically been #1 for the past three years, and are freaking AMAZING doubles team.
- Aanidaani, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2Maybe Roddick should make it a priority to win individual matches before trying to win the Davis cup.
- KyleGoetz, on 11/30/2007, -0/+2"Americans" in this case is short for "American pro tennis players." It's sort of like, when talking about a baseball game, you say "New York" is playing "Boston," even though clearly it's the Yankees and the Red Sox, not the two cities themselves. Buried for trying to play semantics and failing epically.

So the dude didnt just make it up, ppl looked into it. I don't think anything was found, but its not like he just made something up. - windyridge, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Tennis became boring after McEnroe and Jimmy Connors and Illie Nastase. Now everyone's a baseline player and it's an endless volley game. We need a few more nasty boys back!
- compulsive1, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1You meant endless rally game. Volley is when you take the ball off the air before it bounces in an attempt at finishing the point by hitting it away from the opponent. Volley is what McEnroe practiced a lot and it is the opposite of rally- which can get boring.
- mehan, on 11/30/2007, -8/+9go Russia!
- stupidpoo, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1Sorry, I almost never see a tennis story on digg. I had to digg this one. I heard Jim Rome a couple weeks ago saying that with all of the scandals in tennis that it would have to be the new "it" sport.
Screw Jim and his crappy attitude I would love to see tennis be a more popular sport again on TV - KyleGoetz, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1Tell that to the tennis players in this country, who make up a larger percentage of the US population than ever before (thanks in part to the Williams sisters, merits of them as players aside).
- inactive, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1A tennis story on the front page of Digg? This is refreshing.
- inactive, on 11/30/2007, -0/+1I am not saying Switzerland will win it, but one game is all it takes to knock someone out of a tournament.
- demonsnake69, on 11/30/2007, -1/+1I wish more stuff like that would happen in sports -- makes life more interesting.
- bicyclethief, on 11/30/2007, -1/+1I never understood what the big deal with the Davis Cup was. It happens every year and it's not until a country advances far that the best players are called up to play.
- charlietuna, on 11/30/2007, -1/+1Davis what?
- jazh, on 11/30/2007, -2/+2Blame the BBC, not me:

- ddgs, on 11/30/2007, -2/+1"Russians attempted to poison the German team earlier this year?"
Another conspiracy story on Digg??? Facts please!!! - flair1, on 11/30/2007, -2/+1Americans haven't cared about tennis since McEnroe retired.
- UtahApocalyse, on 11/30/2007, -4/+2Buried, I havent thrown ***** in for lame ass soccer.
- jazh, on 11/30/2007, -8/+3I'm not a fan of Roddick, but I hope they beat the Russians given that they attempted to poison the German team earlier this year..
- dolemite5005, on 11/30/2007, -7/+2Neat.
- JasonCox, on 11/30/2007, -11/+5GO RUSSIA! KICK OUR ASS!
