- carbonetc, on 05/19/2009, -3/+80Still awaiting apologies: children who haven't received vaccinations, everyone who bought The Secret.
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -1/+68Can we get an apology for Dr. Phil?
- woahwoahwoah, on 05/20/2009, -5/+40She should apologize for allowing a woman who deceives others about vaccines to have a spot on her network next. She should also apologize for passing off the rubbish known as The Secret as an intriguing book. It was a monumental piece of *****.
- ClarkLab, on 05/20/2009, -2/+28"But as bad as Oprah's public shaming was at the time, it pales in comparison to what has happened to Frey since then — in July his 11-day-old son Leo died of a genetic neuromuscular disorder."
For some reason this seems like a really weird thing to include. - inactive, on 05/20/2009, -9/+30Oprah is a bitch.
- Grogtron, on 05/20/2009, -2/+20You mean because it's completely irrelevant and the author is trying to create some kind of causal relationship between his being caught out and a dead baby?
Yea, it's filler. - Built4JerzyLinx, on 05/20/2009, -1/+17Probably saw that episode of South Park and realized she was wrong.
- rjc5056, on 05/20/2009, -0/+16She could apologize to him best by giving me more coupons for free chicken and having them redeemable this time.
- Smokeydabear, on 05/20/2009, -5/+18You know what? ***** that James Frey *****. She shouldn't have said she was sorry for calling him out. He didn't ***** up, it wasn't an accident, he purposely misled people into believing all his ***** addiction *****.
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -0/+11The author of The Secret is a genius for selling the world that piece of drivel.
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -1/+11That's what he was doing on Oprah when she ripped him a new one...
- jayrok, on 05/20/2009, -2/+12Great, this'll really spice up inane chatter amongst the middle-aged secretaries and frumpy housewives.
- explodey, on 05/20/2009, -0/+10No kidding, If that's the worlds most shocking apology, then we either need to look harder or some more important apologizing needs to happen.
- hallisna, on 05/20/2009, -2/+12This guy, James Frey, exaggerated his "terrible" experiences in order to write a book that would reap the rewards of the money making self-help genre. Doesn't deserve an apology imo.
- anonymousmedic, on 05/20/2009, -0/+10So. When is she going to apologize for supporting the following things:
Sylvia Browne
Pseudoscience
Quack Science
New Age/Indigo Child Theory
Jenny McCarthy and Anti-Vaxxination.
Scientology. - 1RandomNickname, on 05/20/2009, -1/+10Does anyone have the video of Oprah tearing this guy a new one?
- jayrok, on 05/20/2009, -5/+12Slow news day.
- huff51, on 05/20/2009, -0/+7what does that even mean?
- impedance101, on 05/20/2009, -0/+7Video?
- JDLamb88, on 05/20/2009, -0/+6I'm hardly aware that Oprah even exists most of the time, and I advise others to do the same.
- JDLamb88, on 05/20/2009, -0/+6They are quite original though, if only I had thought to rewrite think and grow rich by napoleon hill.
- brickbat, on 05/20/2009, -1/+7Man, you know digg is losing value when Oprah apologising is on page 1.
- sickthoughts, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5She got all high and mighty, not wanting to give him any publicity when he starred in that movie Crash... claimed that she would be giving him an audience to spew his sexist, racist *****..
Then she goes and gets McCarthy on. - inactive, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5to play us out?
- sickthoughts, on 05/20/2009, -2/+7Remember the whole Ludacris incident? Bitch owes that brother an apology...
- dlan4327, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5You people obviously didn't get the edition with the prison shank inside.
- Carramrod72, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5Oprah on the front page. I feel shame.
- algaeturd, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5Who have apparently joined digg en masse to get this story to the front page.
- woahwoahwoah, on 05/20/2009, -0/+5Nope. You do.
I know that she issued an apology, but I also know that there is much that she has yet to address. She's substituting one idiotic act with another. - inactive, on 05/20/2009, -0/+4FREE Gary and Mingee they were duped!
- vizerei, on 05/20/2009, -0/+3One question...Why should we care?
- deema1, on 05/20/2009, -0/+3That's funny. Oprah's apology couldn't possibly have anything to do with this little gem, could it?

FTA:
"The second passage is more controversial because it seems to be based on Frey and his nemesis, Winfrey...The new section contains a story about someone caught up in a highly publicized controversy and a television show that he knows is going to end badly for him. When he feels people "turning on him," he starts taping all his phone calls, including some with "the producers of the show, the executive producer of the show." After getting publicly eviscerated, he tapes one with "the host," where she checks to make sure he isn't "going to hurt himself" and reveals some startling information about herself.
When asked for comment by Page Six, Frey laughed and said, "The book is fiction. Interpret it however you want."
Near the end of the passage, the narrator informs us that he has made copies of the tapes and distributed them to friends for safekeeping.
"Someday he might discuss it," the book says. "Someday he might tell his side of it. Someday he might play the tapes. Someday."" - Rethread, on 05/20/2009, -1/+3I assumed an Oprah voodoo curse was somehow involved in the death of his son.
These things happen in the religion ward. - inactive, on 05/20/2009, -0/+2Dear Oprah,
Thank you so much for your misguided, uneducated, ignorant, intolerant, self-righteous, psychotic and all out arrogant concern!
Signed,
-a homeless, African baby dying of AIDS - CyclonusRIP, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1You're analogy doesn't even make sense. What are the consequences for believing that book was true? It may have no effect on you, or it may encourage you to make a positive change in your life. There is no real consequence. If I believed Amway's lie there is actually a real consequence.
I'm not saying that it's ok to make up a story and then call it non-fiction. I'm just saying that people really shouldn't be so outraged by it. The book had a positive effect for a lot of people so why be so upset if it turns out to be untrue. Sure it takes away some of the effect, but at the end of the day you are so far removed from the characters experience that the story itself is all the effects you and not the reality of the situation. - Yage2006, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1The most shocking would be her apologizing for supporting the anti-vaxers helping to cause the deaths of thousands of children.

- aenilius, on 05/21/2009, -0/+1digging anything with oprah in it should get one banned from digg forever.

- TriggerHappyGTR, on 05/20/2009, -1/+2Damn, I thought it was going to be proper shocking, like Oprah gives him a blow job live on stage.
- btschul, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/104287
- jeremymccurdy, on 05/20/2009, -1/+2Poor Towelie.
- Smokeydabear, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1
Are you Mitch Albom? If you write non-fiction it should be non-fiction you dolt. - NanoHelix, on 05/20/2009, -1/+2Oprah merely tells her audience what they want to hear. She will do anything for ratings and money. Recall the backlash she faced after campaigning for Obama. Rather than stand on principle, continue to campaign for him, and broaden political discourse on her show, she fled the scene and imposed a gag on political conversation on her show.
Oprah's greatest accomplishment is her book club and its ability to motivate people to read. Dr. Phil is the grand embarrassment. - kaosethema, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1buried for oprah
buried for frey....
oh, damn, i can only bury once!! - MightyUpsetter, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1Pay attention.
- groberts1980, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1Why's that? Didn't she basically tell him it wasn't okay to go around saying the word ***** all the time? Does anybody disagree?
- macinit1138, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1Oprah should know by now that, "he doesn't forgive, and doesn't forget..."
- Reddog_x2000, on 05/20/2009, -2/+3Frey lied to make money & become famous. Oprah gave him the dose of public humiliation he deserved. No apology required.
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -2/+3Only in Amerika do fat people buy diet books from other fat people.
Only in Amerika do married people listen to the advice of people who have had affairs with married people. - anshuman, on 05/20/2009, -0/+1ITSSS A TRAPP!!!!..
