- wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Yeah, I agree with you. This one got away from me, because I did it in real time. After spending some time with it today, I found about 1100 words that I could cut out, but I'll just take the lesson and apply it to future reviews.
- wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Yeah, if you go to http://tvsquad.com/bloggers/wil-wheaton/ it will give you all the stories I've written for the site. Right now, it's a whopping two, but if you check it in a couple of weeks, it will be a staggering THREE.
- Lentilboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I digg this story despite the word "Hawsome" appearing in the submission. Seriously...."Hawsome"? WTF (The quotes are designed to keep me from physically touching that word)
- wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@Blah Blah Blah:
I have a similar problem. Wii looks an awful lot like Wil on my Powerbook's screen. It makes my daily trip through the tech news wires a little . . . surreal. - DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I actually really liked the character. He was easy to identify with, and had a unique connection to many of the other characters. Of course, he also had some terrible dialog, was made into a complete Mary-Sue, and dressed up like a pansy (seriously, someone had it out for Wil with that rainbow suit). Wheaton did a great job making him look as good as possible.
On top of that, he's been nothing but forthcoming and candid about what it was like to work on the show, something we'd never get from, well, ANY other actor. Not only does he write TNG reviews, but he responds to Internet postings about them! How anyone cannot hold him in the highest light is beyond my comprehension. - motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"Picard reassures her that leaving Wesley alone and fully conscious was great parenting, because he has the right to 'meet death awake.' Legions of Trekkies agree, then curse Picard for getting their hopes up."
Priceless. - Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Very funny, well written.
Thanks for the laugh Mr. Wiiton. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wil, you really need to make your own parody Star Trek show... you can even use youtube for your content. I bet there are a ton of people who would help out.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Wii Wheaton is hawsome.
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6SILENCE YOUNG KLINGON.. You are not of age!
TNG will always be a great show, and a review from the perspective of someone that was actually in it will no doubt be a lot better than anyone else's
Good read methinks - FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hey, wil,
since i'm sure you troll your own comments like most other diggers, i gotta ask: "will we be seeing more of these gems?" they're frigging hilarious, especially when you comment on your displeasure with the lines and outfits you were given.
to be fair, though, your other writing (what i've seen on you blogs) is pretty great, too. i especially liked the one about going back to universal studios for an audition. - wilwheaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ FunkyWitDaSysTm: Yeah, I do a new one about every two weeks for TV Squad. Thanks for your kind comments, too. I'm having a lot of fun writing them, even if this particular one really is way too damn long.
- Workster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think this review is easily longer than the entire episode of the show.A different season's episode would have made something like this diggable.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I look forward to future reviews, Wil. I enjoyed reading this and got a kick out of the various references that I picked up on (Frogurt, for one). Keep it up.
...
Damn, that sounded awfully saccharine and butt-kissy. So I'll throw in a little ***** YOU, WIL for good measure. - curseyouberkley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Posts like that one make me love Wil Wheaton even more.
- CriX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hah! Quite the witty bastard. I'm impressed.
- pagit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg for dissin the French
" the underlying philosophy of his French ancestors: "Sometimes, Riker, the best way to fight is not to be there." - johnnyloser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey Will -
Do you post this same commentary elsewhere? I want to read the others. Great job, biotch! - domr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do complete strangers wave remote controls in your face too?
- sockdoll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wil - When do we get the next installment of Radio Free Burrito? It's been awhile now, hasn't it?
- wakkow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2mmm..... croissandwich
- Gudlyf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Alright, so I spelled it wrong: http://www.wilwheaton.net/2006/03/grand_slam_2006_day_two.php
- LarianLeQuella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agree 100%!
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Nowadays i read everything that starts with "Wi" as Wii... T_T
- urel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I loved it! You should do many more.
- sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jeez. . . and I thought I could be long winded at times. Especially when talking about TNG episodes. I had to give my wife a rundown on Lore, Dr. Soong and 'teh emoshun cheep' last night while we were watching Dissent I & II.
- Crispin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Wesley character was so hated, yet so easy to identify with for much of the show's demographic (awkward, idealistic, wants to play with SPACE TOYS.) It's good to see Wil come out from Wesley's shadow.
Also Wil, I caught Toy Soldiers in theaters when it came out and didn't totally regret it. - Rethcir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I miss TNG. I need to tivonate it.
- aschwartz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think that Wil's character had the most death wishes placed upon him on TV in history.
And now I really want a crossandwich. Damn, they are tasty. - takehiro12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks Wil, this was hilarious. Can't wait for more.
- nitsudima, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ever see Bob Sagat before Full House? What we see him do these days is more like he was as a stand-up comedian before that show. Since Wil was what --15 -- when he started on TNG, we can't really say who he was before acting as Wesley Crusher. (I bet he can't say, either.) But if you follow his blog and read his books, it's clear he's come a long way from his TNG days. I don't think he's trying to be a certain person to get people to like him. I think he's just being himself -- and coming into his own as a writer.
- kbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hiya Wil,
This is so off-topic it's in the 'neutral zone'...HA!...I crack me up...
Did the TNG originally appear on NBC? I got into a smackdown on the 'BSG moves to NBC' thread where I was told that it was syndicated and not from the NBC network. I thought syndicated meant 'reruns' but maybe not. You were there so I figure you must know. Can you settle it once and for all? - MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Pretty good Wil. I liked it a lot.
"Mokeyboxers Fo-evah!" - johnnyloser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would love to see a review of Encounter at Fairpoint and my personal favorite, Best of Both Worlds. I think Encounter at Fairpoint would be interesting because of how new it was. I totally enjoy hearing about the behind the sceans stuff. (I think it was interesting to hear that you were into Snoop Dog around the time of the Last Outpost.)
I am also enjoying your work on Indigital. Keep up the good work! - ScottPictures, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1My only point is that, his "Cool" persona seems forced. Him "just being himself" seems more like an act than being genuine.
- ScottPictures, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Wil reminds me of Bob Saget. He used to play a clean cut & lame character, now he is like,"Look how cool I am."
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1omgogmogmg wil weaton is so awesome please respond to my post I will dig gyou !!!!!!
- chi1thook, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2He was the worst character. And he really brought the show down. Really, is it plausible that Will Wheaton's character was capable enough to navigate a huge starship across space. By far the worst character of all the series' and that includes Tasha Yar, anyone from Voyager, and that british guy in the closet from Enterprise.
- marlinspike, on 10/12/2007, -17/+2Err.. is anyone out there *still* searching for new reviews of a decades old show?!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+6Who the fark cares about Wil Wheaton?
