And Star Trek 2.0 is one of the dumbest programming moves I've ever seen on a network. The Star Trek 2.0 episodes are unwatchable with all that worthless crap on the screen.

Nope, everything they touch turns to *****. I can't even believe they'd do this after the results they got with Star Trek 2.0. The only reason I ever watch G4 is the reruns of TNG. Apparently I won't be doing that anymore. - nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7YES! TechTV was A LOW END version of the excellent ZDTV.
Todays history lesson for you kids:
1) First we had ZDTV which ad talent galore, was part of the whole ZD family and tied right into all their partners like PCMagazine, their testing labs etc.. and kate. :)
2) ZiffDavis decided to bail on the TV Thing, and then we had TechTV. It was good but not nearly as good or as high a quality content since there was no longer an experienced tech publishing company and their resources behind it. They also didn't have near as much money as ZD did so the quality suffered there as well and they could not afford to try as many new things out and keep as strict a tech focus as ZDTV did.
3) Then came G4 who HAD THEIR OWN channel already but it sucked and no cable providers or satellite companies would show it....because it sucked. But all the cable companies and sat DID CARRY TechTV, so G4 ***** lots of money out their ass and basically PURCHASED TECHTV to destroy it and buy their way onto the cable companies for their crappy G4 content that no one wanted to show in the first place... at first they tried to pretend like it was a "merger" but eventually they slowly destroyed all the Tech-related stuff and left a bunch of crap in its place.
4) Today....all we have is memories...sweet memories. - realyst, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It's made even better that he was employed with G4 for a very short period of time before leaving on bad terms(he described his boss and what he was doing in very colorful terms on a blog post, I believe. Either that or a Slashdot post.) He was also one of the many vocal critics of the TechTV butchery.
So yeah, him and G4 have a history:P

Now that they've moved away from tech and videos games they seem to be a cheap copy of SpikeTV (who by the way still shows Star Trek without the crap)...except they(G4) can't even do that right. G4 is dead last in ratings, the only thing keeping them on the air is Comcast and station bundling.

What NBC is doing is much better. Completely restoring the original series in high definition with special effects that honor the series, not distract from it. It's like they can't decide what demographic to go after, thus why they keep changing formats. It seems like they'll do anything to avoid having to admit that tech oriented programs are better than what they have now. Why is it even called GT4 anymore. Hell, Spike TV has more game oriented shows than G4 does.
I mean, what was the point in buying TechTV when they kept almost none of their shows and the shows they did keep, they turned into shows that were more about fluff and less about games.
You can tell it's run by a bunch of old suits who think that all people 18-30 are interested in whips, dubs, rap music, scantily clad Asian women, and canceled reject shows from other networks. How many shows of are actually G4 originals? Very few if any.
They're trying too hard to be too many different things. They want to try and appeal to the nerd, they want to try and appeal to the frat boys, they want to try and appeal to the gamers, but they do it so horribly that it's pathetic. All the shows are either second rate shows that other networks do better or rejected shows that no one ever watched anyway.

First they show the same 2 STTNG shows 4 times a day in rotation, now its down to a bareable 2. But they want to ***** it up. yay. scratch one off my list.
Xplay is full of crap lately...always. The reviews are pitifull. The "reviews" they do are complete jokes. I might as well ask the back of the game box how good the game is. Ive never seen more vauge game reviews. And now its a bunch of PS2 and Wii "coverage" from 6 months ago. Glah!
And happy tree friends arent shown often enough. Once a week is sad. Maybe twice, for Wed night.

I used to not like DS9 though... but Spike started doing reruns during my lunch broke... ***** played it from 12am-1pm, meaning I couldn't see the last 15 minutes. ARG! Drove me nuts. Anyways, it pulled me into the DS9 series (I don't recall which episodes, something about the Dominion invasion on DS9?).
