Let's Go Voltron Force! - iam413x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I hope everyone already knows what Voltron is.
I loved that show as a kid. I had the toy version for every character so they could all link up.
And for other fans like me http://youtube.com/watch?v=aAeFwJkY2xc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Pfft, of course lions, the vehicle one is based off the Lions one anyway, which means the Lions one is better
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7holy cow! this series was pimp back in the day, i had all the toys to connect them to form the main guy...
but everyone forgot about it, and power rangers stole the shine. - tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Whats the last thing a Robeast ever heard?
"Form Blazing Sword!" - MacGeekGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Lions always. I thought the cars were a really contrived attempt to cash in on the whole transformer thing. The lions ROCKED.
- MrSpookyPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I always thought, "why don't they just pull out the blazing sword first thing?"
I never missed Voltron and Robotech in the morning before I went to school - robdiggity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@dcjoedog
dude, it's gonna be hard for you to form Voltron without the requisite "insert keys!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I knew I forgot something, but I pulled that from my ass from a 20+ yr old memory lol
- dragonmantank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can barely get into the video at this point, but it looks like the original cartoon version, not the crappy 3D animated one
And if you want to get good quality versions of this.... buy the DVD. I got it for $25 at Suncoast new. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6it was an OBVIOUS ploy to cash in, I mean it took 4 to 5 vehicles PER ***** LIMB, that's just some played out corporate *****.
- libradragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Lions rock.
Wasn't there a third Voltron with three robots that combined into one?? - nublet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4voltron > transformers.
- democracysucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Best. Robeast. EVAR.
- livestradamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Voltron, Silverhawks, Gobots, Smurfs, ALF, He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats, Fragglerock, 80's Saturday Morning Cartoons, Drive In Movie (Saturday afternoon Kung-Fu flicks)
Ohhh I'm so ***** sad now - one321, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I loved Voltron. I used to wake up at like 6:00 AM to watch it and I was only a 2nd grader. Sweet cartoon!
- DarkJu17, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The name of the original show in japanese was GOLION. Definitely lions.
- Wilf55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Voltron > *
- Nick519, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3voltron and G-force/battle of the planets, w00t. totally kickass. transformers were too late, just cashing in.
- 1911wolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Lions?
-or-
Vehicles?
Let the debate begin!
[I'm down with the Lions] - pdxhicap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lions of course.
- morettimo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5If you want more information about voltron visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltron or http://www.voltronforce.com/ .
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm totally gleeful over my Voltron DVDs, but I'm still waiting for the original StarBlazers to be released in a decent transfer. :/
- Aang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I remember thinking that Transformers was a ripoff. This show and Battle of the Planets was my first intro to Japanese animation. (Is it truly Manga?)
I had my 2 bowls of Cocoa Puffs, an RC or Pepsi and Voltron! Man, I was ready for school and wired for sound! - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Voltron, G-Force, GI Joe, He-Man, Thundercats, Saturday afternoon Kung Fu, classic Star Trek at 6pm, Dr Who (Tom Baker FTW) at 9pm.
Land of the Lost, and the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon also deserve some mention.
I could go on, but it would be too depressing. I mean, like what if I said Chiller Theatre? That scarred me for life. That's what I get for watching horror movies at age 6.
http://www.dvddrive-in.com/Chiller/chiller.htm - misxn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LIONS!
The voltron force in the vehicles knew the lions were the stuff anyway. - timberfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let us not forget the day the Voltron team got served... http://digg.com/videos_comedy/Voltron_Served
- ragipy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Agret" you should sleep more
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All fellow Voltron fans! check here for classic episodes of the good old school stuff: http://www.FreeMovieMall.com Enjoy!!
- obrysii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is that Peter Cullen I hear as the narrator?
- ABadInAlbany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But it's not the ORIGINAL original cartoon. There was no futuristic city in the original.
- robdiggity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"...and I'll form..... the NADS!"
- DexDoomsday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, I sux at hyper links for my own articles;( Anyone wanna help a newb? How do I link my own article? Anyway, here's the right link to the Voltron Super Robot Wars W Video Game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWCLTq2MnN0
- Kaosu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm Sven.
- ABadInAlbany, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Not the original Voltron.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remember when Power Rangers came out. My inner child squealed, "but.. but.. I've seen this before. And better! Voltron!"
- dipdog21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok now I am reminded of that cartoon where they start from earth on some kind of space ship that actually looks like a ship, with a weapon that shoots out the front of the ship... Damm it somebody help me here with a title!
- moghua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The best part is the svedish chef guy. I totally forgot about that from when I was a kid.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In the US, a series needs at least 65 episodes for daily syndication. Japanese cartoons rarely have that many so US distribution company would buy the rights to several and combine them. The most famous example of this is Robotech, which is actually 3 different cartoons: The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. World Events Productions got the rights to Golion (Lion Voltron), Dairugger XV (Vehicle Voltron) and Light Speed Electric God Albegas (Gladiator Voltron). Only the Lion Voltron episodes were a hit, so the Gladiator Voltron episodes never aired.
- overbored454, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry, I have to chime in to say that even though the Lion Voltron himself was "cooler" than Vehicle Voltron, and only took five parts to form instead of the whopping fifteen cars, boats, planes, and shuttle buses, the storyline was better. It was a more realistic, sci-fi series where good and bad were not as clearly defined. Later on through the series, the enemy didn't seem evil after all. There wasn't an evil goblin king, his witch fortune-telling, spell-casting sidekick, and obnoxious blue part human son. The Lion Voltron storylines were the same every day. Witch contrives lame plan to attack Princess, Voltron is beaten to near unconsciousness by a demonic Ro-Beast, the Lion team decide that at the point of near death that it would be a good time to use the Blazing Sword, Voltron cuts Ro-Beast in half heroically, and Cinderella's mice share a part in the ensuing celebration. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe had better, more developed storylines than that.
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We're off to outer space
We're leaving mother Earth
To save the human race
Our Star Blazers!! - AlfaWolph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eh. Tranzor-Z was the original but Voltron holds a special place in my childhood memories as well.
- jnorris441, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wait wait, the "good planets" of our solar system are maintaining peace throughout the ENTIRE GALAXY???
- ToastyBagel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doooood, voltron was THE BEST cartoon on for years. I would PRAY TO GOD every day that the bus didn't run late so I could catch it at 4pm every afternoon.
I remember mowing grass for like 5 weeks to save up enough allowance to buy the entire set of lions and then my parents tried to throw them away because the paint had lead in it. LOL... good times. =) - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well it's a lot easier to wake up early when you're younger.... When I was young I slept 11:30PM-5:00AM now I sleep from 2:00AM-8:00AM
- mombof, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, that was great! I didn't remember it being that bloody or the monsters that scarry!
I still have my Land, Sea, and Air team Voltron. I must admit, I always wanted my friends' lion Voltron!
I use to watch it early too, only one of our tvs could get it the broadcast though. I would sit there with my finger on the uhf loop antenna, in front of our front door to get a decent signal. - foxyfoxykitsune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If the ship was a large Japanese WWII battle ship then Im betting Space Battleship Yamamoto (aka Star Blazers) If i looked like it had a bitch'n galleon grafted on to the back and flew the Jolly Roger than that was good ole Captain Harlock. Hope I helped
- d00rk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0And I've always thought that I was the only kid who ever had Pepsi with his Cocoa Puffs!!
Did you ever find out the name of that cartoon? I used to love that one! - MrSpookyPants, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lions
I even remember being a little kid and thinkg the cars version was a lame rip-off -
