- BESTenemy, on 11/16/2009, -0/+17That would explain why your words are all messed up.
- michaelpinto, on 11/15/2009, -1/+16These commercials are the real reasons for the Jennifer Aniston breakup!
- EddiePotato, on 11/16/2009, -1/+14Not that there's anything wrong with that... ifruit.
- christoast, on 11/16/2009, -7/+18Brada Pittu hava rery raaarge prenis.
- robwhite1979, on 11/15/2009, -0/+11Every time I see one of these "celebs in Japan" commercials from the pre-youtube age how many missing gems there are out there featuring these people hawking crap products that they wouldn't touch with a 10 foot stick here in north america.
- ifruit, on 11/16/2009, -0/+10I have no idea what she is saying.
- contradictator, on 11/16/2009, -0/+8As far as "American celebs in Japanese commercials" go, these seem way less embarrassing/bizarre than most.
- anotherjack, on 11/16/2009, -0/+8Brad still does Japanese commercials, shilling for Softbank brand phones this year. Brad was successful before he started this, which is why they used him. In the second, singing commercial, for Edwin Jeans, there is a montage of previous commercials, so it's a callback to the whole Edwin ad series. In the last Edwin commercial the girl is complaining to him that he mispronounces the jean brand.
- michaelpinto, on 11/15/2009, -0/+8Are you somehow implying that Edwin jeans of Root coffee beverage are NOT luxury products that Hollywood celebs consume?
- ifruit, on 11/16/2009, -0/+7I'm a 29 year old strait man, but Brad Pitt is still my heterosexual male crush.
- badqat, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5Two things stand out - it's become a bit of a meme, the whole doing commercials overseas thing (see the Conan commercial from last Super Bowl) and it's strange that huge stars hawk the biggest piles of crap for huge amounts of money that they could make here just as easily.
- ifruit, on 11/16/2009, -1/+6I'm sorry, I've been drinking, I don't even know if that makes sense.
- christoast, on 11/16/2009, -0/+5haha, oh god.
dugg. - JoEBlack982, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3Those Roots energy drink ads are like the real life version of Vincent Chase's energy ad.
- tokomini, on 11/16/2009, -1/+4I'd rather have these commercials than those ***** FreeCreditReport.com *****.
- joolsca, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3He didn't "start" by making commercials in Japan. He was paid millions of dollars to do them because he was already a big star and knew they would never air outside Japan, just like countless other stars do...which I guess the poster is clueless about...
- DeathfireD, on 11/16/2009, -0/+3she was joking around saying he doesn't know how to pronounce the name. The I in japanese sounds like an E and the E sounds like an A.
- jamwil87, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2It appears to.
- SoundJudgment, on 11/16/2009, -0/+2"I have nooo idea what she's sayin.'
Got that right, Brad! - fajitamelt, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Celebrities doing commercials in foreign countries does not fit into the same category as Lolcats in any way, shape, or form.
- deathstryk, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1you win.
- TheNik, on 11/16/2009, -1/+2I think Edwin jeans is just a regional branding for Levi. It's not Reevi
- qazws, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Japanese girls go crazy for Brad Pitt.
- andyroo316, on 11/17/2009, -0/+1That's not the point.
You said: "It's not a meme, they've been doing it for quite some time." as if if it was a new thing, it'd be a meme.
If you meant it like how you say in your rebuttal, the second part of the sentence was totally redundant, pointless and actually makes the comment seem as if you don't know what a meme is.
But I think you meant it exactly how you wrote it, and then when I pointed out that not all memes are new, you came up with a ramshackle rebuttal that doesn't hold up to much. - fajitamelt, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1It's not a meme, they've been doing it for quite some time. And Conan's commercial was a parody of it.
- diggdong, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1So what are you saying? You'd clean his pool?
- merlin99, on 11/17/2009, -0/+1This reminds me of the Friends episode where Joey advertises the blue lipstick
- aychseven, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1mmm french girl speaking japanese...
- raydeen, on 11/16/2009, -1/+1Whoa, whoa, whoa...let's not gloss over the fact he was with KELLY ***** BUNDY!!! Kelly Bundy people. Kelly Bundy.
- robwhite1979, on 11/16/2009, -1/+1I think you mean "Ed-o-win".
- qazws, on 11/16/2009, -1/+1Edward or Edwin.
- kimutaku, on 11/16/2009, -0/+0Brad Pitt was on Japanese TV just tonight, eating and commenting on a gourmet meal cooked for him by Japan's original boy band SMAP. It was quite awkward.
- antoniuk, on 11/16/2009, -1/+1He is bigger than Hoff in Germany oh my!
- andyroo316, on 11/16/2009, -1/+1Memes aren't just something that's new.
Epic Fail! Meme.
Lolcats? Meme.
Chuck Norris facts? Meme.
All been around for at least half a decade now. - CzechSix, on 11/16/2009, -1/+0Wait...I thought LeVar Burton was the actor who did Roots?
- VVCephei, on 11/16/2009, -2/+1HAHA yeah I get it because he broke his jaw when he saw the size of brad pitts penis!
