- funkymonkey01, on 11/03/2009, -5/+77Hey, I have just watched the pilot and it is worth a look
- adeelarshad82, on 11/04/2009, -2/+43I watched it, honestly too much happened in the first episode, thought they would take it a little slower but clearly i was wrong. I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet but some of things that were happening in the first episode here didn't happen for along time in the original series.
Oh and the Aliens in the original series were much more disgusting. This was nothing. MAKE THEM MORE GRUESOME! - TrevorBelmont, on 11/04/2009, -2/+36I watched the first episode. It had the pacing of a stuffed monkey banging cymbals. It just seemed to arbitrarily leap ahead in time to establish the next plot point. It went PLOT POINT, PLOT POINT, PLOT POINT, without stopping to take a breath. I guess they wanted to get things going quickly but they did so at the expense of story, character and quality.
- kosa, on 11/04/2009, -0/+32what kills shows like this is 4 episodes and then a big break. People lose interest and move on to another show.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/04/2009, -1/+24As someone who voted for Obama and can distinguish between fiction and reality, it didn't really bother me.
- corporalclegg24, on 11/04/2009, -0/+18And, they're only showing 4 episodes this month, and finishing the SEASON AFTER the winter olympics! WTF is that shieeet!
- alanocu, on 11/04/2009, -1/+18I saw the original miniseries back in the early 80s. It was scary. I had nightmares. Seriously, I hadn't had a nightmare that bad since after watching that movie "When a stranger calls (have you checked the damn children)?!"
- KSUdesigner, on 11/04/2009, -2/+19Uh, it's a remake. It's not intended to be completely original. They likely had to get Alex Jones' permission before even making the damn thing, so a lawsuit for copyright infringement isn't even possible.
Also: "I liked the originial V it had a way better plot."
"They are basically the same exact story."
Would you make up your mind? Those statements contradict each other. - bnk1310, on 11/04/2009, -0/+16V is exactly the kind of show I'd love to watch, but I don't trust the major networks to serve sci-fi fans anymore. They reconfigured or sacked Sarah Connor Chronicles, Invasion, Lost, Futurama and every other decent sci-fi-esque show since STTNG. ABC will ruin this show too with rescheduling and all their other tomfoolery and nitpicking.
That will cause this show to eventually lose in ratings compared to some mindless piece of Reality TV garbage, and all its fans will be left hanging just like we were the previous 50 times ABC/Fox did an experiment in sci-fi entertainment. Forget it.
These Uber-networks should stick to your stupid promiscuous doctor/police supermodel drama shows. Apparently that makes them a lot of money. Leave sci-fi to the institutions that respect their fans. - Lowenfels, on 11/04/2009, -1/+17It's a decent show, but the word on Hollywood Blvd. is that unless it does ridiculous numbers, it's not gonna be on the air for long...
- guytoronto, on 11/04/2009, -1/+16The writing was absolute crap. Too many stupid inconsistencies.
- The "Visitors" can manipulate gravity, but their little shuttlecraft still use propulsion jets? Really?
- In attempt to stop the "Resistance" the "Visitors" send in a little floating orb to hover in the middle of the room where everyone can see it, react, then duck in time to avoid shooting spikes on a two-dimensional plane. THEN the aliens run in with swords to start hacking people apart in close combat. Could they come up with plan anymore less effective? Why not bomb the sh*t out of the building? Send in a flying BOMB? Send in a hovering POISON GAS GRENADE?
- Big screen TV on the bottom of the space craft? Is that really smart engineering? No, but it does make for cool TV, right? - merreborn, on 11/04/2009, -0/+15I liked the part where they were searching that abandoned plant.
"We've searched all the silos, and haven't found anything"
"Hey, look. There's a shack over here, which you apparently you need me to point out because I'm the only person in the FBI with an IQ above 60" - bthree78, on 11/04/2009, -1/+16I loved the original mini series and even the Final Battle. The new one was surprisingly good. The updated make-up fx on the lizards was amazing compared to the cheese fx of the original. However, what's with all the bluescreen? The original actually built sets for the inside of the mothership. The original even built full size shuttle crafts for landing sequences. The new one just showed some god awful CGI. What really annoys me is referring to the Visitors as "Vs." I think the writer missed the point of what the V stood for in the original. I'm still hooked. . .
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 11/04/2009, -6/+20I'm not complaining about it, but I can see why the nutjobs on the hard right would love it. A newcomer to our culture wins our trust based on a message of hope and change and promises of universal health care, and they turn out to be evil. Who'd a thunk.
But then again we're talking about the same group of people who make up their minds on the legality of torture based on episodes of 24 so I'm not really surprised. - fxu1989, on 11/04/2009, -0/+14Well, they want to cram as much story as possible before they go on that 4 month hiatus... after airing only 4 episodes.
Talk about horrible executive decisions. - AmyVernon, on 11/04/2009, -0/+14The original miniseries ROCKED. Saw it a zillion times. The sequel miniseries got pretty cheesy. I mean, more cheesy in a less good way than the original. I don't even have any memories of the TV series. For me, it was the oompa-loompas from Willie Wonka that scared the CRAP out of me.
- jrm125, on 11/03/2009, -3/+16I will definitely be watching tonight.
8 PM EST - wiggles, on 11/04/2009, -0/+13I'm afraid it's the other way around. Sorry.
V is from the early 80's. E:FC is from '97. - therealkid, on 11/04/2009, -0/+13How can you tell if the aliens are gruesome or not? We haven't even seen them yet. (Not completely)
- elliotys, on 11/04/2009, -8/+20***** this show, lets get some originality from hollywood for once.
- sugarazor, on 11/04/2009, -0/+12... Seriously?
It's a remake of the 1980s miniseries "V." - Marlorn, on 11/04/2009, -2/+13I watched the pilot last night -- it was decent at best. Plot-wise it was okay (although gave away too much IMO), but the acting could have been better -- especially that kid who makes retarded facial expressions and has his eyes set on that younger Visitor. Sorta reminded me of a really dumbed-down version of District 9.
- temsi, on 11/04/2009, -4/+14This show is excruciatingly bad.
Really awful writing & bad directing.
And why on Earth is Scott Wolf still on TV? - LuCiFer6, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9I felt the same way 15mins into the show. It felt like I left for 30mins and came back to miss some important plot points.
Also why in the hell was show only an hour? The Original V did a great building it's plot and tension, this new feels so anticlimactic. But after saying all the above, I still want to watch new week's episode. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9They had the bass cranked, because that's how they roll.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9Your comment reminded me how one of my best friends was scared to death of Planet of the Apes. :-) The only thing (well person, really) that scared me when I was younger, was Vincent Price... but I loved to watch him anyway.
I just finished watching V and I think it has potential. - boogerthecat, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8that gives them plenty of time to cancel it after they've got your attention.
I've stopped watching network made material because they never finish it. They've canceled Jericho, Surface and tons of other stuff before resolving the plot. - AmyVernon, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7YOU DID? Damn you. Of course, I only have to wait another half hour or so to see it.
- wiggles, on 11/04/2009, -1/+8Yes.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/chi-tc ... - digitalArtform, on 11/04/2009, -2/+8Is this going to be used as a metaphor for Obama, now?
- NyteStarNyne, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6I thought it was a great start, but could do without the political overtones. Elizabeth Mitchell did a great job as well.
- dalittle, on 11/04/2009, -6/+12unlike conservatives who cannot tell fiction from reality. Wonder what would happen if they tried to think for themselves instead of reading from talking points?
- JTMON, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Funny, I thought WANTING universal health care was a lot different than PROMISING universal health care. Stay douchey mwrl!
- JTMON, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6It didn't stand for anything other than Visitors in the original UNTIL the old man caught them tagging and explained what it SHOULD mean.
- anakast, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6For the love of God, keep politics out of non-political articles.
- crossmr, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5yeah its like seinfeld in space. A show about nothing, except they forgot the funny.
its taken them 6 episodes to cover what would take 8 minutes in an SG-1 episode...but at least we have character development!!!!! - MWeather, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6"People want instant gratification these days. This episode gave it to them. "
That's my biggest complaint right there. - elchispito, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5There's plenty of originality coming from Hollywood, just not on network TV.
Hell, at least V isn't a medical, crime, or (though admittedly less common now) legal show. - boogerthecat, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5How many times did Shawn have to betray the resistance before they put a bullet in his nappy ass?
- elchispito, on 11/04/2009, -2/+7I'd rather it wasn't on the air for long.
And by "not for long" I mean long enough to tell a good story but far shorter than LOST. - psunut5, on 11/04/2009, -2/+714 million viewers = it aint going anywhere. I thought it was very well done.
- dwtc, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5I got pretty annoyed with everyone calling them "the V's", too. I think "Visitors" has much more meaning in both potentially friendly and potentially scary ways. "V's" just sounds lazy.
I liked the pilot, but that may be because I loved both the original miniseries and have fond memories of watching them on TV when I was a kid. The pacing could have been better. As someone mentioned above, they suddenly skip ahead 3 weeks and some people like them, some people hate them. It seemed a little off when the wheelchair guy (Roy, I thnk?) was healed by the Visitors one day, then shortly after... well, he felt differently about them, without any real explanation of how he ended up in the condition he was in when he came back to the priest, or how he got his hands on the information he had. Hopefully they come back to deal with that and explain a little more about what happened to Roy.
I do think that black guy was cool, and I like the twist that Visitors have been on Earth for years, undercover. And that the some of the undercover ones want to be on the humans' side. - MWeather, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5There is no copyright to be infringed upon. Alex Jones actually believes what he says. If you present something as a fact, it is not copyrightable as facts are not copyrightable.
- dwtc, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5I was wondering how long it would take Glenn Beck and friends to start drawing comparisons, seeing as how the original V was a big metaphor for the 2nd coming of the Nazis, and many of those right-wing types like to imagine that Obama is Hitler incarnate.
- zephc, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5I was 4 when I saw a bit of V on TV, and it freaked the bejesus out of me when I saw one of the lizard people pull their faces off
- JasonCox, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6The show looks promising, but they revealed way too much for a pilot episode; the content of that episode could have easily been made into half a season.
- TwwIX, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Scott Wolf is in it? Yeah, i wouldn't get my hopes up.
- bjs3171, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4so far they're still just visitors. how would "victory" be meaningful in anyway after only the first episode?
- digitalArtform, on 11/04/2009, -1/+5I see.
So I wonder - when do we finally get to stop hearing that ABC, the network who made this, and that anti-Clinton 9/11 hit piece, is part of the liberal media conspiracy? - guanyin, on 11/04/2009, -1/+5 I was with them till they made the comment that the aliens would take us over by taking over our health care system. I'm thinking, you gotta be kidding me. I hear enough about this crap, now they even pump it into tv shows. Gimme a break.
