- atlanta911, on 12/24/2008, -1/+64I'd like to send out a BIG thank you to all the people out there who make these shows available online minutes after they air. You make life so much easier when I forget to program my DVR.
- TeatherWind, on 12/23/2008, -3/+38Idiots - 3 of those shows are currently on Monday nights, and they are moving House to Mondays too.. If I am paying for cable, but they can't plan their shows better, why shouldn't I torrent what I want to watch, and then watch it Tuesday, or weds when there is less on? Basically just 'enhancing' the functions of the DVR they gave me..
- specialK16, on 12/24/2008, -1/+34Summer Glau.
- Kvasaari, on 12/24/2008, -0/+30Yes, it's a pretty good show.
- MorpheousMarty, on 12/24/2008, -1/+28Yes, they do. You, sir, are totally unprepared for the coming (very hot) robot apocalypse.
- dmpdpete, on 12/24/2008, -21/+39people actually watch the Sarah Connor Chronicles?
- Frankie4Fingers, on 12/24/2008, -0/+16Top gear is awesome.
- Gauthic, on 12/24/2008, -0/+16It's not pirating--it's timeshifting.
- borez, on 12/24/2008, -0/+16I've torrented all my TV for the last 4 years now. I wouldn't do it any other way,
- freezerburn666, on 12/24/2008, -0/+13i enjoy it, most action i've seen in a tv show in awhile. some senseless killing, for the sake of the future... pretty cool.
- kolop1, on 12/24/2008, -3/+15House FTW. WOOT!!!
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -0/+12You realize the cable company doesn't controll program scheduling, right?
- lurrker, on 12/24/2008, -1/+12It's become better than heroes at this point.
- EcksFactor, on 12/24/2008, -0/+11yes! that show rules!
- shade45, on 12/24/2008, -0/+8Yes, its a good show.

You at work today? Poor bastard. - SolidSnake24, on 12/24/2008, -0/+8Lena Headey.
- Ragarnok, on 12/24/2008, -0/+8Wow, so Lost also has the fourth highest number of TV audience for no reason at all, what a coincidence
- electrifried, on 12/24/2008, -4/+12I cant believe that many people watch prison break!!! sheesh. I thought that show was finished after season two lol. Funny - I was flickin thru the channels last night and caught a bit of the show...looks like they're back in prison xD yawn.
- YouAreDead, on 12/24/2008, -3/+10***** the mpaa
- LawnMowerKitten, on 12/24/2008, -1/+8I find it interesting that Terminator SCC and House are on this list, but South Park isn't even though they each steam each week's episode. I think it's because Fox's video player blows and only streams each episode for three weeks; whereas South Park Studios let's you watch every episode ever.
- identifiedlogo, on 12/24/2008, -2/+9DEXTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Frankie4Fingers, on 12/24/2008, -0/+7Teenage girls....!!
- crsnglb, on 12/24/2008, -2/+8I used to download/watch Dexter online but I think it's so damn good I bought the first two seasons and my boyfriend subscribed to Showtime. We also got every single person we know hooked. I can't wait for the next season.
- Campetin, on 12/24/2008, -0/+6"The only reason LOST does so well online is because there are better things on in it's TV timeslot."
Oh, really? Like "ER", for example?
Please... - TheSpook, on 12/24/2008, -1/+7Evidently, there ARE women on the Internets...
- flamingduck, on 12/24/2008, -1/+7Stargate Atlantis actually has MORE people watching it online than off... interesting, considering it kind of appeals to the geeky crowd.
- danwallace, on 12/24/2008, -0/+6The war is pure high-budget CG. You can't do that on TV. It has to be character-driven, not effects-driven.
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -1/+7Your mom.
- thebarry2001, on 12/24/2008, -0/+610 most pirated AMERICAN tv shows of 2008. I believe Britain's Top Gear is the most downloaded tv show of the past couple years because it has never been released on DVD.
- rjejr, on 12/24/2008, -0/+6I gotta say it's hard for me to equate "piracy" with watching "free" TV programs which most on the list are - Dexter being the main exception. I watch everything online via Hulu. My cable company - Cablevsion - has been offering BSG Free On Demand with very limited commercials or else I'ld watch that online as well. And while Hulu isn't pirating, nor NBCs crappy Beta Direct, nor Fox's HD online, how far is it a leap to torrents really?
On a related note - THIS is without a doubt the most important part of that article:
The vast majority of the downloads come from overseas, over 90% on average. Outside the US - Frankie4Fingers, on 12/24/2008, -1/+6Here Here.
- danwallace, on 12/24/2008, -0/+5Yup.
- doctorfungi, on 12/24/2008, -0/+5Apparently Desperate Housewives viewers aren't as well versed with torrents as other audiences.
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -0/+5I've been a fan of Lost since season #1 and trust me its gotten a lot better. I like where its heading. Can't wait for season #5.
- dmorel, on 12/24/2008, -1/+6I guess we need no further proof that P2P downloading is completely and utterly mainstream. If it was not I would expect the list to be filled with super geekdom. I would be confused by #3 being prison break, which is just too awful to be considered at all geeky. Even more confusing is desperate housewives coming in at number 5. That would suggest woman are watching and we all know us nerdy types don't have girls. (that last part obligatory and often not true)
- silfiriel, on 12/24/2008, -0/+5because Heroes and Lost is watched by fanboys, while Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives are also seen by women of all ages and some men too.
- RedHawk911, on 12/24/2008, -4/+8How can a show like Grey's Anatomy get 16 million viewers?
- rynsa, on 12/24/2008, -2/+6Numbers 2, 7, and 8... guilty, guilty, and guilty.
- robthky, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4The current season of Top Gear (UK version).
- bdbr, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4The fact that many of them are on the same night doesn't reflect lack of planning. I'm sure its quite intentional.
You completely lost me on the reasoning of why someone with a DVR has to illegally download a show, though. - sayntin, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4I always torrent shows I cant get in the U.S. Merlin has been good, and IT crowd is a must. Love that show. Anyone know anything else I should grab that doesnt show in U.S?
- Nitelite, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4Sounds like he/she is, and so am I. Thanks for the paste, kind person of the interweb.
- Willtheway, on 12/24/2008, -1/+5I disagree, I really like how they expanded the universe. Granted there are a few filler episodes that aren't too exciting, but it's important for character development. Although I must admit some skepticism if they are trying to relate the machines with UFOs.
- Mawds, on 12/24/2008, -0/+41,2,3,4,6,7,8,10 only because I want to see them in HD.
- Mawds, on 12/24/2008, -1/+5I think it's great, I really get tensed up watching it.
No Dexter, watch out!! - borez, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4I always torrent shows I can't get in the UK.
Hello you... over the pond. - apkennedy1, on 12/24/2008, -0/+4QI, Top Gear. I agree
- tackle, on 12/24/2008, -0/+3Well, one could argue that technically it is pirating if you download the episodes without commercials.
