- Trifold, on 02/13/2009, -1/+96I'm not one for celebrity-worship, but Dave really does have the quickest wit I've ever seen. And he's never afraid to use it at the guest's expense. So much better than Leno, who just kisses the guest's ass for 20 minutes.
- wjibaja, on 02/13/2009, -1/+2810. Joaquin Phoenix on 2/11/09
9. Farrah Fawcett in 1997
8. Drew Barrymore in 1995 on Letterman's birthday
7. Kristen Stewart in 2009
6. Madonna in 1994
5. Paris Hilton fresh out of the slammer in 2007
4. Andy Kaufman in June 1982
3. Crispin Glover in 1987
2. Michael Richards appearance via satellite during Seinfeld's interview
1. Harvey Pekar in August 1988 - wertach, on 02/13/2009, -0/+24Dugg for "flashed her bazongas in his face."
- Tyrghast, on 02/13/2009, -2/+24The best line was "I'll come to your house and chew gum then,". It did a perfect job of outlining how disrespectful Jaoquin was, Letterman was trying to do his job and Jaoquin was just being a big, albeit hilarious, douche.
- PixelPusher74, on 02/13/2009, -3/+25Joaquin's interview was the best disaster I've ever seen! Definite WIN!!!
- ucbmckee, on 02/13/2009, -5/+23I don't get what's so bad about the Kristen Stewart one. She certainly doesn't come off sounding smart or exciting, but I think the 'punchline' in the description falls entirely flat. Does David (and Time's authors) not know that there's a tunnel connecting England with continental Europe and that, yes indeed, you -can- drive from London to Russia (border control issues aside)?
- ShannonGB, on 02/13/2009, -4/+21I think he's acting. He's a pretty intelligent guy and a great actor...
- stonebone4, on 02/13/2009, -0/+15Apples > Oranges
- woofers07, on 02/13/2009, -0/+13No Dave spraying Richard Simmons with a fire extinguisher?
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+13Im still waiting for Top 10 Front Page Top 10's
- ucbmckee, on 02/13/2009, -0/+13Kinda odd to see when Madonna used to be reasonably hot. Boy that's changed.
- tinkafoo, on 02/13/2009, -2/+14Andy Kaufman! YES.
- rblancarte, on 02/13/2009, -1/+13I remember watching the Drew Barrymore one live. That was classic.
Overall, a great list. I remember two days after Madonna he said "We still have our NC-17 rating from Madonna's appearance" - coondoggie, on 02/13/2009, -0/+11Farrah was scarey...
- NYConcepts, on 02/13/2009, -1/+10Letterman>Leno
- PixelPusher74, on 02/13/2009, -0/+9I don't even like the guy but I'll give him credit for a great interview either way!
- AlanLivingston, on 02/13/2009, -0/+9Dude... You just called yourself stupid.
- akaakc, on 02/13/2009, -1/+10Too bad someone's English doesn't work...
- novicechap, on 02/13/2009, -2/+10Paris Hilton's was the best. Letterman was really amazing.
- fatTJ, on 02/13/2009, -0/+8Dugg for Crispin Glover
- emptyo, on 02/13/2009, -0/+7I watched some of almost all of them. However, the word "disaster" never crossed my mind when watching the Drew Barrymore clip. "Sexy as *****", maybe, but not "disaster".
- havek23, on 02/13/2009, -0/+7holy crap the unibomber question made me LOL @ work
- jmulchino, on 02/13/2009, -3/+10Get Kristen Stewart off the list. Does the "Time" writer have it in for her or what? Didn't get it at all. And the writer pens "smoking drugs"???? Get real. What does that mean?
At least based on the first clip of Farrah, that was pretty mild and not really that outrageous. It looked like Dave was making something that wasn't there. - danwallace, on 02/13/2009, -1/+7She still looked pretty good for a doped up 50 year old.
- krammaii, on 02/13/2009, -0/+6I wish I was as high Farrah Fawcett in that interview.
- THETEH, on 02/13/2009, -4/+10Joaquin's was so hilarious. He had no idea what was going on.
- pennvneff, on 02/13/2009, -0/+6Andy Kaufman called Joaquin and he wants his act back.
- shamos, on 02/13/2009, -4/+10The kristin stewart one was totally fine. She came off great, especially for her age.
Plus she CLEARLY said "i'm actually hoping for London", and not Russia as the idiot writer stated. - mojoel, on 02/13/2009, -1/+7Andy Kaufman was a genius.
- dylio, on 02/13/2009, -0/+6Dugg for Andy Kaufman too.
- Rotzooi, on 02/13/2009, -12/+18Colbert > Letterman
- bekindin09, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5And quite funny.....Farrah: "There were lots of people." Letterman: "That's New York"
- opensourcer, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Dugg for Letterman...but I was hoping for Richard Simmons and a fire extinguisher being one of the disaster. .
- ShannonGB, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Geez Joaquin that's awkward!
- identifiedlogo, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Letterman is just a great talent... The way he handled Joaquin Phoenix was just genius.
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Does anyone remember Brother Theodore?
- pamon, on 02/13/2009, -1/+6andy kauffman was #1. joaquin's was a publicity stunt and not a FAIL. look at the spike of internet traffic on him the day after.
Kauffman was a legend and the top. - dxprog, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5http://www.cracked.com/article_17008_lettermans-9- ...
That'd be it. - lopla, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5Joaquin could be involved in some sort of weird personal social experiment. If it's not.. then whoa.. if it is then damn he rocks because it's frikin hilarious and very well played!
- tinkafoo, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4I'LL SUE YOUR ASS OFF!
(did I guess right?) - bradharrelson, on 02/13/2009, -2/+6He was acting. For his new role... Rick Rubin or whatever.
- Mockylock, on 02/13/2009, -3/+7Joaquin interview was intentional. He has a type of inside joke with a producer about becoming a rap star, and this has to do with all of that.
- IMHydrogen, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4Xanax is a helluva drug.
- MidnightRIder77, on 02/13/2009, -2/+6Didn't Cracked have an article fairly similar just a few weeks ago?
- CTK14A, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4I've been looking for Topher Grace's first appearance on Leno. He was clearly stoned.
- akamurph, on 02/13/2009, -3/+7it's called 'acting'
- terminal157, on 02/13/2009, -2/+6As the article mentions, Crispin Glover was just doing his character from Rubin and Ed, either to promote that film or just to ***** with people. Probably the latter. People need to stop pretending it's real just because it's more funny that way.
- AlanLivingston, on 02/13/2009, -3/+7error: no match for 'operator>' in 'Apples > Oranges'
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4When I was younger, I thought he was just a *****. Now that I'm older, I can see why people say he was a genius.
- krammaii, on 02/13/2009, -0/+4Also, I cannot believe this one didn't make it:
