- KibblesnBitts, on 11/12/2009, -0/+17Band of Brothers should have at least been number 2 or 3, not 5.
- Coven, on 11/12/2009, -0/+14Seriously...no BSG no digg.
- diggan8, on 11/12/2009, -0/+12Dugg for Band of Brothers
- mbst2000, on 11/12/2009, -0/+10Yep, Generation Kill is one of the best I've ever seen. For different reasons than Band of Brothers, I don't know a single person who finished watching the last interviews in BoB who was dry-eyed by the end.
Generation Kill was just an awesome, uncompromising look at the military and conflict, laying bare everything that people daren't talk about. Band of Brothers was a homage to a great generation.
"Grandad, were you a hero in the war?"
"No....but I served in a company of them"

Loved John Adams. - Bender, on 11/12/2009, -1/+8Generation Kill was good. But to me, it doesn't get any better than Band of Brothers. That should be #1

………………………………………………………’’~-‘’_ , , ,,’,_/--‘ - robwhite1979, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5Did anyone else read the comments on the article?? A bunch of them are talking about how they replaced David Attenborough's (amazing) narration on Planet Earth with a new track by Sigourney Weaver for the American release. A few of them suggest that this was done because Americans don't understand the metric system well enough for the narration to make sense LOL.
Yeah, that makes sense, let's just re-do the narration to an entire mini-series just so that the one country in the world that still uses the imperial system doesn't have to learn what a meter is. - mkriss5681, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5John Adams was awesome. Paul Giamatti's performance was one of the best I have ever seen. It really shined a new perspective on a president that was kinda billed as a lame duck. I left the series with a new found respect for John Adams. One of the best miniseries ever, not just of the 00's.
- robwhite1979, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3Yeah, here in Canada we're stuck 1/2 way between metric and imperial... Pierre Trudeau started the metrication process in the 70s but then when Brian Mulroney came along he decided it was a waste of money so stopped the switch over... Hence, we measure our bodies in feet, inches and pounds, but distances are measured in meters, kilometres, etc... When buying groceries pre-packaged things like butter come in 454 gram portions (equal to one pound) instead of 1/2 kilogram portions (this is called "soft metrication"). The entire building industry uses imperial, but many mechanical systems use metric (hence you need to own both metric and imperial tools in order to accomplish such simple things as fixing a lawn mower)...
I prefer metric personally because it makes more sense and requires less arbitrary memorization, but being in a country that is half and half is probably worse than being in a country that uses the "old system" exclusively. - BrewBeau, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3I hope the metric system is not why they did that, though I can't think of any other reason why they would. We're never going to abandon the backwards English system of measurement if nobody is acquainted with it.
- Firespray1138, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3Was gonna digg for Band of Brothers but then I saw there was no Battlestar Galactica on the list.
- tonks01, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3I'm not sure what I'm going to do once Attenborough passes on, no matter how diverse the subject matter if he's doing a narration on it I'm glued to the screen, He's been narrating documentaries longer than Ive been alive and he's as important as any other aspect.
Thinking about it James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman aint no spring chickens either......*****. - VigRoco, on 11/12/2009, -1/+3I am glad the general consensus here is that Battlestar Galactica deserved a spot on the list!
- thedarkrabbit, on 11/12/2009, -1/+3Finally, a list I can agree with on Digg.
- swift535, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2This was one of the more interesting lists I've seen on Digg. There were some I've seen and loved, some I've heard about but haven't gotten around to watching yet, and still some others that I haven't heard about but that sound like they could be very interesting. I'll have to spend some time on mininova later...
I was hoping to see From the Earth to the Moon on the list, but I suppose the series does lose some of its gusto in the later episodes. More importantly after double checking I realized it was actually made in 1998. Still, if you haven't seen it, it is an amazing series especially for the first half. It is on par with the Apollo 13 movie in my opinion so if you were a fan of that you will enjoy the miniseries (narrated by Tom Hanks with a great cast). - Rizzen, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2I guess it wasnt technically a miniseries seeing as it wanted to go on for several series, but it worked out that way.
- swift535, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2As an American, I hate it when people change something that's obviously already been very well done. I haven't seen Planet Earth, I've considered buying it since getting a ps3 recently though. Now I know that there is a version to avoid though, thanks.
- Bloodwine, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2HBO has a really good track record of original series and miniseries.
- VigRoco, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2NEVER FORGET!
- bigteebo, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Torchwood made it, and Kingpin didn't? I don't agree with this at all.
Guess I was the only one who liked Kingpin. - hushpuppy20, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Glad they included "Angels In America". They were right that parts of the 7-hours didn't work, but Al Pacino was amazing in that film, as well as Mary-Louise Parker & Patrick Wilson.
- swift535, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Also, while I liked Firefly (and own it), I don't think it deserves to be on a "best" list by any means. The rug was pulled out from under the series, which shows pretty clearly in the DVDs. It wasn't a miniseries, it was just a cancelled series, one with an underdeveloped and unresolved story at that.
- cyberdork, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1The first two episodes were awesome, the rest was meh.
- Rethcir, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1The one with Brooke Shields and johnny drama?
- BabyWookie, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Planet Earth is amazing. The whole thing feels to me like an expose on our planet made by a more advanced alien race to show to their own. It's just so detached from anything human.
- clippclop, on 11/12/2009, -2/+2Holy *****. Is Dakota Fanning getting hot???
She's one person whom i refuse to watch anything with. At least she might be easy on the eyes soon enough! - mkriss5681, on 11/12/2009, -2/+1Remember, Beets and Bears too.
