- EatingPie, on 01/05/2008, -2/+30I was curious about Larry David on Hannah Montana... but yeah, duh, he has children who probably asked him to get them on the show... Hannah Montana is freakin' phenomenon ($2000 for scalped tix -- for your kids? Yep, people have paid that).
OTOH, we type-cast many comedians, and it's not entirely fair. George Carlin does a fine job narrating Thomas, and there's nothing weird, gross or profane about it. He's good at it, plain and simple. And the kids have no preconceptions, so why should we?
-Pie - theNazz, on 01/05/2008, -0/+20What about when Alice Cooper was on The Muppet Show and performed 'school's out' ... complete with school yard explosions and burning school. My parents damn near had a heart attack over that.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/05/2008, -0/+16You're the only person who can leave a signature and not make me hate you at some point.
- VeniceCA, on 01/05/2008, -0/+16Their own kids (and grandkids) will recognize them which is motivation for some.
- HouseofEl, on 01/05/2008, -0/+11I wouldn't say Carlin was weird on that show. He seemed like he did a pretty good job as that character.
- whatthefu, on 01/05/2008, -1/+10Larry David will do whatever the ***** he wants.
- KingGorilla, on 01/05/2008, -0/+8so i dugged this comment before I scrolled down to see the signature. guh, I submit to pie
- bimtott, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6The Muppet show was primetime. Technically not a kids show.
- sofaKing812, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5too, goddamnit.
- toussaint, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5dugg for iggy pop on pete and pete
- TeakJolson, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5witch slapped, its a pun, tee hee.
- sofaKing812, on 01/05/2008, -2/+5Oh man, I got to find the theme song to Pete and Pete now.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5hY2ozBsZro (for anyone else that want to hear it to). - shooby, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Dude...Nick Jr. shows nowadays are so ***** up

- AamirM, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3No Robert DeNiro on Sesame Street?!?! I'm shocked.

It's pretty trippy at the end. - Jowe, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3For the record: Thomas the Tank Engine ***** owns.
- StealthTomato, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Holy crap, I wondered why Carlin's voice sounded familiar in Bill & Ted; because I grew up watching Thomas the Tank Engine. So weird!
...and now kinda creepy. - oMeSSiaHo, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2When I was a kid I always wondered why the singer from Polaris mumbled the words. The song is actually a cover of a Vietnam protest song. One of the lines is "stand and shoot me" so I guess Nintendo made them muffle it.
I actually have "I was arouuuuuunnnddd, nobody knows, nobody knows" stuff in my head. God how I loved that show. - uchinanchu, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Does anyone know an alternate site for the Larry David clip? It seems that you tube removed it.
- LessThanDan, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Woah. I forgot how cool that song was. That, and it brings back memories. Good find.
- 00Sean00, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Interesting list though they forgot one. Morrissey, everyones favorite manic depressive, and the rest of The Smiths made an appearance on a BBC kids show Charlie's Bus. Here's the link

One of the funniest moments in children's television history happens at 00:30. - MikeonTV, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Shiny Time Station WHAAAAATTT!?
- Calculon, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2The band is Polaris. The CD with the soundtrack has a few other decent songs as well.
- SKick, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2I bet he chokeslammed all of the children after the show.
- navitatl, on 01/05/2008, -1/+3Did I just hear Rizzo the Rat say "Somebody's gonna get bitch-slapped"?
I'm sort of confused and disoriented. - arynne, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1HAHA. the look he gives the camera after he says it is priceless.
- mablco, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Im pretty sure Sesame Street has a long history of having famous "adult" actors on their show (there are adults regularly on the show). My only guess for this is that its entertaining for the adults that SHOULD be watching with their children...and maybe it was a dream of theirs since they were little tykes.
- nursethalia, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1I'm surprised no one is mentioning Between the Lions. I walk in the laundromat the other day and glance over at the kid's play section and there's Dr. Ruth on TV (the sex therapist) showing some stuffed cats how to pronounce 'helicopter'!
- Alphateam, on 01/05/2008, -1/+2I saw the wrestler The Big Show (Aka The Giant, Paul Wight) on Nickelodeon on some Hanukkah show. He was playing with the kids and singing and dancing...that was weird.
- Mongo61, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Throw in a dollar, ya cheap bastard
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1I'm sure Ron Jeremy has made a cameo on a kids show, you just need to look harder. Now that would be a strange celebrity cameo.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Pete & Pete had all kinds of musical stars. The chick from the B52s, Michael Stipe and the whole Polaris band have been in episodes.
- BenKenobi88, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Well when their only on-stage personas had been adult, mature, dirty in nature, it's pretty funny to see them in kid's shows...and parents often do form opinions on actors based on their movies, and wouldn't want a swearing old man narrating their show knowingly.
- TeakJolson, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1buried for being dumb
- phrenzy, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Not sure if this was a kids show - But involves kids and a very somber and out of place looking Johnny Depp. However, it is the kids themselves who are truly disturbing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mv-pbwUcs4 - Rethcir, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Iggy Pop was also randomly on an episode of Deep Space Nine as a vorta.
- dlrudden, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1'fraid not. That's "Endless" Mike, who was played by a different actor:
http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0327078/ - bmystry, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Its some Japanese show that likes to make celebrities uncomfortable.
- AaronD12, on 01/06/2008, -0/+1What about Prince on The Muppet Show? (Check YouTube) Kinda seems like a mismatch...
- phlux, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Wow.
I bought that Thomas Train video for my daughter for christmas as it came with a thomas train car...
I watched it with her and went to work the next day and commented how weird it was hearing George Carlin narrate this vide; here it shows up number 1 on this list :)
Thank the gods I am not the only one who found it bizarre..
(but still very cool - I recommend all George Carlin fans go buy this video, its really cool when you uh, drink.) - iamsocruel, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1buried for being incredibly old
- bmystry, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1Ha I saw the second video and Elmo is really funny for some reason.
- damndj, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1The QT bit had me laughing. Pretty good.
- bbrittwage, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1it's called irony
- DG4NJ, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1What about Richard Pryor on Sesame Street?
Now that was weird!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=eJh_EUrEAZg - ZenMojo, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1You think that's bizarre by itself? That dude cleaning the porch on that episode of Pete & Pete is Sam Rockwell.
http://imdb.com/name/nm0005377/
Pete & Pete was the best. - SatansSpatula, on 01/05/2008, -4/+4Lame list that assumes a celebrity's on-stage persona is the sum total of his or her personality.
- fogster, on 01/05/2008, -1/+1I always thought that having 2Pac play Barney was a bad idea... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsBpO18DvnQ
- Lutraphobia, on 01/05/2008, -0/+0Todd Barry is ridiculously underrated as a stand-up comic
- mGARANDEUR1, on 01/05/2008, -3/+3What a stupid ***** list. Lame
