- ousthouse, on 03/10/2009, -0/+41I've had a sneaking suspicion that Seventeen magazine is starting to slant towards the young female demographic.
- inyearstocome, on 03/10/2009, -0/+22Uhh... CW has been girly since it was still the WB... nothing new here.
There just happened to be a few half decent shows that came out of there is all. Don't get confused! - Gr00ver, on 03/10/2009, -0/+20He's seen it on the internet.
- MasterInsan0, on 03/10/2009, -1/+21Like you would know.
- seo4one, on 03/10/2009, -6/+24I thought Smallville was kinda girly, back when I was a 20 yr old girl....
- anotherjack, on 03/10/2009, -1/+18Let us chicks have the CW - otherwise all we have is Oxygen and the Lifetime Channel. If you help us we promise to try to get Firefly picked up again, and get shows like Dollhouse and Sarah Connor and Buffy and all those "hot chicks smashing *****" action that you like. Just ...don't leave us alone with Lifetime anymore...it's always cold and there are rapists outside....
- Stefbaby, on 03/10/2009, -4/+19I think TV is gearing more towards girls in general these days. Probably because they're less likely to get stuck on computer and video games so they resort to TV. But definitely a huge disapointment! Im ready for a show to rival Seinfeld and Friends!
- anthonylam, on 03/10/2009, -0/+15So how can it be like 8 or 9 seasons and Clark STILL can't fly on his own?
- petebot, on 03/10/2009, -2/+15Always sunny in Philadelphia.
- giapet, on 03/10/2009, -2/+14Yeah, man, I hate those TV shows for girls. Girls suck. They have cooties! And they definitely don't like anything GOOD. ;)
- seattlegirluw, on 03/10/2009, -0/+12Wasn't Friends geared primarly towards women?
And for the record, plenty of females hate the crap CW has been spewing lately! - strykstaguy, on 03/10/2009, -0/+12I'm a guy and I love Gossip Girl (I'm also gay so I'm not sure if that helps the cause) But I do enjoy Lost, and Top Gear just as much (Because I'm a man still a man dammit)
- infamousjr, on 03/10/2009, -0/+11I only watch Supernatural and Reaper. The rest, meh.
- theholyfragger, on 03/10/2009, -2/+13I have to agree... Smallville just hasn't been the same the last few years. The only good thing they've got going lately is Supernatural.
- Jericho6, on 03/10/2009, -1/+12Girly does generally mean shows with hot women, like Gossip Girl. So it isn't all bad.
- pingpants, on 03/10/2009, -0/+11How soon we forget their hallmark series. xxoo, gossipgirl
- zippea, on 03/10/2009, -0/+10CW was always girly.
- pyromaster114, on 03/11/2009, -2/+12I've noticed that...
And I've also noticed the steady decline in good television shows in general in America... it just sucks... what am I supposed to do?
Oh well... *turns off the TV* At least I still have you, Internet. *Hugs the modem and router*. - tattertech, on 03/10/2009, -0/+10IS going? That implies a different situation in the past...
- zboyet, on 03/11/2009, -0/+10I am going to make a show called "Seinfeld and Friends"
- shinelikeitdoes, on 03/10/2009, -0/+10let me get this straight..youre disappointed that its going girlie..but then say you are ready for a show like friends? lol.
- Inflammo, on 03/10/2009, -0/+9I thought the CW has been girly for a long time. Is this really earth-shattering to anyone?
- seanthebond, on 03/11/2009, -0/+9I'm 18 now, I watched the old "Kids WB" shows back in the day with Jackie Chan Adventures, Pokemon, Batman and Superman, MIB Animated Series, which made me loyal to the network. I then started watching Smallville, Everwood (despite what you're thinking, I am straight), and Supernatural.
The WB was a cult type network back with Buffy and Dawson's creek, and I hate to see it's "child" in such agony.
RIP. WB - Hockey13, on 03/10/2009, -2/+10Did you get an advance copy of the pilot 15 years ago?
- shiftkgb, on 03/11/2009, -0/+8Supernatural is amazing.
- AstroJones, on 03/10/2009, -1/+9I couldn't agree more with this article. If the CW can't step it up some they're definitely going to lose out. When even Cable networks are starting to compete with broadcast television (burn notice season finale on USA actually beat out some of the broadcast network shows that night) CW just isn't going to have anywhere to run and hide.
- lostinseganet, on 03/11/2009, -0/+8If you can get futurama in there count me in (^_^)
- LacY, on 03/11/2009, -0/+7didn't season 2 start last Tuesday?
- schrutefan, on 03/11/2009, -0/+7As long as there's some fine ass like on Gossip Girl, I'm all for it!
- FallenTurtles, on 03/10/2009, -1/+8Am I one of the only people that finds virtually every show on CW to be complete garbage?
- 22pages, on 03/11/2009, -1/+7Almost everything is now catering more to women. Why? Because they are as a whole acquiring more wealth as a segment than men are. They are a more valuable audience. They start more businesses, are getting better jobs, and generally exert more control over family finances. They are good for marketers, which is what TV is all about, selling ad time to marketers.
- saladdays, on 03/11/2009, -0/+6if you're searching for loyalty to a certain television network, the problems start there.
- chugatussin, on 03/10/2009, -0/+6Smallville was and still is KIND OF is an awesome show. Supernatural is awesome. The rest are mehhhhh
- Vinthian, on 03/11/2009, -0/+5That's the only show I watch on the CW.
- norman619, on 03/11/2009, -0/+5Smallville is Dawson's Creek with Aliens and Mutants. The only two shows on that network which doesn't seem to target chicks are Supernatural and Reaper which also happen to be the only shows I watch on the CW. Reaper is sliding towards chickville so I don't expect to be watching that for much longer.
- KHook321, on 03/11/2009, -0/+4The CW never should have cancelled Veronica Mars. Male or female, that was a brilliant show.
- fuzzynyanko, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4Sounds like a bunch of networks are all targeting an untapped demographic. The problem with that is if everyone's doing it, the market will get oversaturated and basically have a chick show bubble burst.
- stereosaurus, on 03/11/2009, -0/+4As far back as I can remember the WB (and now CW) seemed targeted towards teenage girls and young professional women. Their top shows have been pretty female-oriented content like Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Ally McBeal and Gilmore Girls.
- bstew22, on 03/10/2009, -0/+4does "CW" stand for something? it's really bothering me right now.
- mizike, on 03/11/2009, -2/+6Yeah I agree, smallville has been girly since day one; I'm shocked anyone actually thought otherwise. While it's never been as girly as, say, gilmore girls, it's always been aimed primarily at women.
- crocodial, on 03/10/2009, -3/+6I'm a guy and I love Gossip Girl. Along with Lost and Entourage, it is one of my favorite shows.
- Inflammo, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4It takes the first name of CBS and Warner Bros, who made the channel together
- mx13punk, on 03/10/2009, -0/+3Oh dear god tell me you for the sarcasm tag...
- inactive, on 03/10/2009, -1/+4What?? The CW is what replaced the Warna Brothas network, its all colored folk television!
- zboyet, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3I had no idea that show was even still on.
- bytor4232, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3We need more first run syndication. Thats where all the "male" centric shows were back in the day. Time Trax, Kung Fu TLC, Vanishing Son, Star Trek, Tecwar. Those were the shows I never missed back in the day. Very male centric.
With Legend of the Seeker doing kickass in first run synd, I think its time to bring it back for the guys. Of course, my Wife loves LotS too, dunno if it has anything to do with the guy who plays Richard, but hey, doesn't hurt. I'm a straight as a pole Hetero, and even I think he's hot. - Crash1337, on 03/11/2009, -2/+5Supernatural is awesome
- BellaVitaGirl, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3CW is a conglomeration of 2 girly networks. Remember these were the channels that had Seventh Heaven, Gilmore Girls, America's Next Top Model, One Tree Hill, etc.?
- bytor4232, on 03/11/2009, -0/+3Radio has been dying since the 80's. Video killed it, don't you remember? It had a brief resurgence back in the 90's with the Alternative movement, but even thats gone mainstream.
- norman619, on 03/11/2009, -1/+4Dawson's Creek + Mutants + Aliens = Smallville
