- kylescousin, on 10/01/2009, -6/+57Still don't get why they picked Cleveland for the spinoff of family guy... If it was a Quagmire spinoff, it might be in the "to watch" section.
- bnorman, on 10/02/2009, -0/+44I disagree, Quagmire would be a one joke show. There's only so many innuendos you can do and it still be funny. It works for Family Guy because every so often it's funny, but if Quagmire had his own show? Eh.
- battye, on 10/02/2009, -5/+42Community (good job NBC) and Glee are at the top of my best new shows list.
- inkubusfan, on 10/02/2009, -4/+29Dugg for Community. I think it's funny. NBC is killing it in the comedy department, no one else even comes close. 30 Rock, Parks & Rec (probably the weakest of the bunch but DOES have a few chuckles), The Office, and Community. GREAT lineup.
- freetoex, on 10/02/2009, -11/+32I started to watch Glee... but then I realized I was a straight male...
- c3rb85, on 10/02/2009, -1/+22I'm digging Flash Forward, but then again I like Lost and ABC probably picked it up because they knew they would loose viewers when Lost ends this season and it is a good replacement.
Modern Family, from the pilot episode, seemed to be pretty good. - ZombieSociety, on 10/02/2009, -0/+18I believe that's called "Family Guy."
- mandraque, on 10/02/2009, -3/+18As someone to went to a community college for two semesters, I have to say that Community is hilarious.
I had a writing teacher that was all about seizing the day. Anything you wrote, as long as you poured your heart out got an A. It felt more like a group counseling class than a writing class. ***** that just wouldn't fly in a regular college. But it was hella fun though. - AManWithNoName, on 10/02/2009, -1/+15I think it's safe to say that none of the Family Guy characters could carry their own show. Every single character is a one-trick pony, even more so than the Simpsons. The only character I'd watch a show about would be pre-gay Stewie, and his episodic plans for world domination, with Rupert loyally at his side.
- Morwynd, on 10/02/2009, -0/+13That's so true... I watch Family Guy for Peter Griffin's growth as a person.
- konamicode, on 10/02/2009, -2/+15Although I disagree with you about Glee, Community has been consistently funny. I think the latest episode shows that it'll be a solid series going forward.
- bnorman, on 10/02/2009, -1/+13Too smart?
Let's go over some of the 'jokes'
How women have gone from not shaving to shaving.
Racist neighbors
And a Russian bear.
None of these jokes are 'smart'
and I'm sorry, but if you're implying that Seth MacFarlane hasn't pushed racism yet, you have never watched Family Guy. - MatthewDuke, on 10/02/2009, -2/+14I like the show "Mr. Belvedere".
- onederboy, on 10/02/2009, -1/+13Glee's my new favorite.
There are only 3 shows I keep up with: The Office, Glee, Community. To be honest I don't even care for Community that much, but something about the show keeps me watching. I think it's the fact that they're bordering on what could be a good show, and I want to see it develop into that. - RepublicofJosh, on 10/02/2009, -1/+12Dexter.
- capheine, on 10/02/2009, -9/+20Someone wake me up when there's something on TV that's actually more fun/interesting/engaging than the Internet or video games.
- borez, on 10/02/2009, -1/+11I don't really watch Family guy so I don't have a reference for it, but... to be honest, I thought Cleveland was ***** awful.
- StewVader, on 10/02/2009, -2/+12If you follow the "Code of Harry", you'll know Dexter is one of the best shows...
- fluidfoundation, on 10/02/2009, -4/+12I just caught the last 1/2 of The Middle. I was pretty impressed. And as long as I stop trying to make FlashForward give me that Lost feeling (paying attention to every single detail like it truly means something), I think it will be enjoyable for a few episodes.
Until V comes on, that is. - poppabk, on 10/02/2009, -1/+9Community's recreation of the Dead Poets Society scene was perfect. If they can bring more of that type of humor into the show, and somehow create an overarching storyline which doesn't rely too heavily on the "will they hook-up" trope, they will keep me watching.
- dfc2525, on 10/02/2009, -1/+9and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
- Alli3388, on 10/02/2009, -0/+7They didn't need a spin off at all - there was absolutely no need for one on any level. Just seems like greed. Hopefully they lose money on it and learn their lesson. Idiots.
- FormerBabby, on 10/02/2009, -3/+9Slim pickins. I'm sticking with sports for now, at least the content doesn't disappoint even though the Leafs do.
***** Leafs. - Mawds, on 10/02/2009, -0/+6John Lithgow looks like he's gonna be one creepy son of a bitch.
It's gonna be awesome. - Mawds, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I know, but looks like it got cancelled :(
- sgxyay, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5SoA rocks, but it's not new, so not really in this discussion.
- AndrewMoyer, on 10/02/2009, -2/+7Family Guy doesn't make race jokes...?
Two words: Ollie Williams. - kpaphysicist, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5"package of characters is unlike anything else out there"
Let's remind ourselves of the characters on the Cleveland show: a family with a wife, fat son, daughter, talking baby, and talking animal..Sound familiar? - Spandia, on 10/02/2009, -1/+6You better mean the BBC version...
- bullsfan03, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5"La Bibliotecha" rap is my favorite moment in Community so far... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcD_Y838DXA
- Thumper13, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I hate Parks and Rec, but the wife likes it. Louis CK is saving it though.
All those others are great. - konamicode, on 10/02/2009, -5/+10Bored to Death is hilarious. Granted, it's not as slapsticky, over-the-top, ridiculous as most sitcoms. It's smart, well paced, and interesting. Maybe the lowest common denominator of Homer Simpson shouldn't be judging the quality of tv shows?
- FredFredrickson, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I would hate to see Quagmire leave Family Guy though, so that'd be an awful idea.
- umdigger, on 10/02/2009, -1/+6What kind of show (Glee) portrays high school kids as dumb enough to think you can get a girl pregnant by premature ejaculation in a hot tub. My wife likes it, but that little gem of pure stupidity did it for me. I will admit the cheer coach is great though.
- sleestakslayer, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I'm really into T.J. Hooker and Hello Larry.
- Bookant, on 10/02/2009, -2/+7Watch the first couple of episodes, then make that determination. It's nothing at all like High School Musical. It's much more of a subversive/satirical look at High School along the lines of "Election." Musically, it's got nothing in common with American Idol - they've done a good job of casting people who can sing. The lead is a former Broadway actress, for the most recent ep. they brought in Kristen Chenoweth to do a couple of numbers, etc.
- hoodedrobin, on 10/02/2009, -0/+5I am a strait male... and I will say this Modern Family that actually has a gay couple in it, is less gay than Glee. And its also ***** hilarious.
- Thumper13, on 10/02/2009, -1/+6I wanted to resist Glee, but we caved and damn that is a funny show.
Community is also our favorite of the new, and quickly a favorite overall. Abed is freaking hilarious. - bjs3171, on 10/02/2009, -3/+7that's...the point. idiot. it's satire.
- Nateon, on 10/02/2009, -3/+7The first episode of Bored To Death wasn't that great but the second episode was hilarious, the show is starting to take form. It's overshadowed because it's following the funniest show on tv (Curb Your Enthusiasm) but it's getting good.
- bjs3171, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4THEY CANCELLED REAPER???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- tsunamitomi, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4That isn't the quote...
- NeoCortex, on 10/03/2009, -0/+4Lost
- bjs3171, on 10/02/2009, -2/+6Glee is fantastic. A great concept--put very cheery awesome music on top of a very relevant, well-done drama. And also make it really ***** funny.
Flash Forward has been pretty good too. This could defnitely be something.
I've only seen the first episode of Bored to Death, but I loved it. Brilliant premise, and it is quite funny. If the humor's too subtle for you, then that's your problem, but that's they kind of humor Jason Schwartzman does. - aknolp, on 10/02/2009, -1/+5I really think Community is funny, and I'm not sure what they were talking about when they said the second episode wasn't that good. All three episodes I've watched have been pretty damn funny! That being said, it will probably be canceled very soon.
- gimmeagob, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4That doesn't technically start until January. What we saw was just an advanced preview. I agree though, it was pretty good.
- matu4251, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4"he started too" meaning he didn't finish the episode... which was probably the best thing to do :)
Same thing happened to me with "Mama Mia" after the first 5 minutes I looked at my wife and asked her: "are you sure you want to watch this???". You can imagine my relief when she said no. - ace429k, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4I miss Chuck. It was easy to watch and I enjoyed watching Adam Baldwin get pissed. Almost as good as he was in Firefly.
- AManWithNoName, on 10/02/2009, -1/+5Words cannot express how enraged I am to know that they canceled Reaper to make room for a ***** Melrose Place series reboot. Whoever made that decision needs to be taken out and shot.
- Swarms, on 10/02/2009, -0/+4If they changed their name to Leaves they'd win more. True story.
