- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -10/+75One reason it's going to suck: George Lucas.
- heavystone, on 08/04/2008, -9/+45No offense, but if you really carefully weighed all the evidence then you should know that its been done before in 2003. This is just a "remake/reboot" of the same series. I guess Lucas didn't like the fact that the 2003 series was so "ordinary".
Same thing with The Clone wars movie coming out. EVERY scene in the trailer is a copy & paste of the 2003 series just redone.
This is the first time I am seriously disgusted and disappointed over Lucas. - Shogi, on 08/05/2008, -14/+48Why can't it just ***** end?
I mean really, would that be so bad? - Falldog, on 08/05/2008, -2/+28How about getting someone not associated with Lucas to do some post Jedi stories? Maybe the Thrawn Trilogy.
- MasterGrief, on 08/05/2008, -0/+20...First time?
- Ljay90, on 08/05/2008, -0/+20Are these the same Ten Reasons that it ruled when it was on CN?
- ZZax, on 08/05/2008, -4/+23No involvement from George Lucas would have been about the only thing that could have made this list accurate.
- mlrigsby, on 08/05/2008, -8/+25This will be horrible. I was a huge Star Wars fanboy and am still in love with the original trilogy, but I have absolutely zero interest in anything Star Wars-related, except maybe the video games. No one cares about battle droids, Dooku, or clone troopers. George Lucas has absolutely sucked all the fun and love out of the series.
- sindex, on 08/05/2008, -4/+19When the ***** does Anakin have a padawan? If that were the case, shouldn't it have been brought up in like.. Episode III? Argh... damnit Lucas, stop ***** on the chest of my childhood.
- Mr.Gone, on 08/05/2008, -5/+19See the problem is, they have decided all the violence will be too much for younger audiences so they are replacing all the blasters/light sabers with walkie-talkies.
Funny part will be in 7 years when Lucas re releases this with live action actors included so it more closely matches his vision. - cwckc7, on 08/05/2008, -4/+17star wars is the aerosmith of movies....it just...won't....stop...
- heavystone, on 08/04/2008, -0/+13Yeah, the series were short but thats the sweet thing with the DVDs. The series is jammed together so they create a 2part movie. It was way more better than watching the series on TV. Highly recommended.
- Kenzan, on 08/05/2008, -2/+14Question:
If Anakin was still a Padawan under Obi-wan in Episode 3, then why in the clone wars does Anakin have a Padawan named Ahsoka, and why is no mention of it made in the earlier movies?
There is a tremor in the force..It is called inconsistent story continuity - Stemnin, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11I find your lack of faith disturbing.
- MWeather, on 08/05/2008, -5/+16Unless one of those 10 reasons is "George Lucas isn't involved in any way whatsoever", then it's going to suck.
- noblestrife, on 08/05/2008, -3/+131. Dooku vs. Palpatine
Who cares? Dooku is killed by Skywalker.
2. Female ninjas
Yeah, because ninjas make everything better (even a failed franchise). /sarcasm
3. Clone rights
Excellent notions, too bad the series is going to go NOWHERE near them for fear of alienating its young audience (uhhh, the same audience who is apparently clamoring for more female ninjas).
4. Clone Wars is new-school YA fiction
"Perhaps influenced by a new generation of YA fiction with more adult themes" Adult themes would mean it's not YA fiction. Or did you mean "mature themes"?
5. The Jedi come in shades of gray
"it's not just Sith vs. Jedi" Ultimately, yes it is, numbnuts.
6. War dramas are instant win
You are correct, sir. I have seen many 13 year olds drop their Naruto obsessions when they are presented with DVD copies of Ken Burns riveting documentary "The Civil War."
7. More droids
I have no counterpoint since this point is in itself a desperate grab to fill spot #7.
8. Dooku back story
Possibly the only valid point in this list if the series ever touches on it. However, Young Adults don't give a ***** about this at all.
9. Anakin as ironic hero
And here is my biggest counterpoint: We know he turns. We know why and when and how. The existence of a young Anakin in a post-1983 story is anti-climactic. Lucas is apparently the only one who doesn't get this.
10. Second-generation Star Wars sensibility
Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me this Star Wars incarnation is going to be good because it was created by people who produced the friggin' Powerpuff Girls and a blatant Naruto-ripoff?
Author's Note: I don't hate Star Wars. I'd like to see something new (for realz), that's all. - MasterGrief, on 08/05/2008, -1/+10If you're gonna be an *****, don't apologize for it.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9Where have you been?
- BridgeBurner, on 08/05/2008, -4/+12Animated Star Wars? Really?
- inactive, on 08/04/2008, -3/+10The 2003 series rocked. However, one thing you can't deny is that it wasn't nearly as fleshed out as it could have been. Each episode was what, 5 or 10 minutes? I was skeptical at first, but really, if it's more of what the 2003 series gave us, I'm all for it.
- jeremyduffy, on 08/04/2008, -3/+10I was seriously skeptical after seeing the art style (Yoda... why?... Why did they do that to you?), but after looking at it some more, I kind of excited. They should be able to branch out more and do more things with more characters and show us more of the awesome universe of Star Wars (besides that cursed f*ing ugly desert wasteland Tatooine).
- cj485, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6"has always been *****"
...ARE YOU ***** KIDDING ME?! - inactive, on 08/05/2008, -1/+7I can give you 10 reason's why it will absolutely suck.
1. George Lucas
2. George Lucas
3. George Lucas
4. George Lucas
5. George Lucas
6. George Lucas
7. George Lucas
8. George Lucas
9. George Lucas
10. George Lucas - kenedamick, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6I think it looks ***** weak.
- diggydougie, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6I was 17 when it came out and it was awesome. Nothing like it had ever been done before. But since then the effects have gone light years beyond and it seems a little campy. I watched all the sequels in a vain hope of reliving the magic of the first time. But it never happened. But it wasn't always *****, and some parts are very good. Rule of thumb for movies: Sequels are never as good as the original.
- l800LEMMINGS, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5because fanboys will never admit when it sucks
- inactive, on 08/04/2008, -0/+5Well, yes - I actually own the DVD for the 1st season, and I've been meaning to pick up the 2nd season. Still, I can't help but feel that if they hadn't been trying to break it up into 5-minute chunks, it could've rocked even more than it already does. Seriously, I loved the 2003 series more than any of the prequel movies, and I'm very excited to see what they can do with the concept, as even as awesome as it was, they didn't come anywhere near the potential that it had to offer.
- Nukkafett, on 08/05/2008, -2/+6Dude didnt cartoon network try this ***** to? or is that what your refering to? i'm a die hard star wars fan but they needto ***** stop. its over kill
- o0adam0o, on 08/05/2008, -2/+6Why do you people keep complaining about anything star wars? Screw your image of SW...if your memories are ruined just because of this type of stuff then your memories must be pretty weak. I dont mind having the SW world live on, even if it is thru what some can consider "crap"...if it wasnt for these remakes, the story would be lost...I know so many people that have never seen the originals...and the only reason they know it exist is because of the new stuff tht comes out....If you dont like it, dont watch it...none of us own it...in the end its just a friggin movie!
- Angmar, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Anakin wasn't a padawan in Episode III, he was a Jedi Knight. He became a knight during the Clone Wars. Also, Anakin is given a padawan near (or at) the begining of the movie.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4I guess you haven't seen any of it then.
The Clone Wars Vol 1 was a frame to frame piece after Episode 2.
Clone Wars Vol 2 was a frame to frame piece before Episode 3.
This new saga is between Vol 1 and Vol 2
Asaaj Ventress was introduced in Vol 1 and is a pretty bad ass character and they fought on the moons of Yavin.
The technology behind Darth Vader's suit which is one up over Grievous was introduced in Vol 2.
Anakin's second new arm was introduced in Vol 2. - RobotBuddha, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Being superior to the prequels isn't exactly high praise. An episode of the beverly hillbillies is more enjoyable to me than the prequels.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+6This is bound for a free ride on the fail boat.
- duckley, on 08/05/2008, -5/+8Looks like crap to me.
I tried to like the trailers, but seems that anyone over 10 years old will find it really lame. - TwwIX, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Scrap this kiddy friendly, cartoon network whoring and do the Live series. Move it to HBO and let their creative minds handle it.
- fuelcell, on 08/05/2008, -2/+5Diggers are, by and large, whiny little bitches that deserve a boot up their ass.
Star Wars: A New Hope was both a great B-movie and equally as flawed as any of its successors. You are comparing, rather fruitlessly, the uncritical memories of a 7 year old boy to the highly critical musings of an adult. The two don't mix well. I can't re-watch Robotech without realizing that it wasn't nearly as good as I remember. And I still don't get what the geeks on this and other sites get so jazzed about when someone mentions the Transformers or G.I Joe.
What crap. - Depravo, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Especially Howard the Duck.
- bagboyrebel, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3uhhh, it's not anime. It doesn't even resemble anime except for the fact that it's animated.
- zadadka, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Oops and Doh !
My force is weak.... - darkphenox, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3probably watching the good Star Wars cartoon from 2003
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Completely agree.
George Lucas has no soul anymore, he's turned Star Wars into nothing more than fan service and CGI.
And don't get me started on Indy 4.. - inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+5Have 0 interest
- Firespray1138, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2I'd say this new show and movie have a chance of being pretty good but after I learned that they're giving Anakin an equally whiny-ass preteen Padawan, I've all but lost hope for the show and movie. I remember reading a article saying how it was supposed to be badass and feel like a real war and have the feel of Band of Brothers but then seeing the trailer and some horrifying one liners from Obi Wan, I had to think WHAT THE *****?!
- aznpwnzor, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2IMO the cartoon network clone wars was ***** awesome it was samurai jack all over except with star wars. I'm all for more of it too.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2That and dark knight? Yah, I agree.
- Seemefearme, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2No thanks. The way they told the Clone Wars story has been amazing thus far. The live action miniseries taking place between III and IV is going to amazing as well. Star Wars haters please just don't watch it and leave your comments to yourself. If you don't like the way they've taken the franchise, then just watch the old movies and be happy.
- BenKenobi88, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2"fabled Episodes 1, 2 & 3 proper"? Wha? Do you mean re-made prequels? I've never really heard much about that...I've heard plenty of requests for a "7,8,9" trilogy...
- mleh, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4But how will George Lucas maintain his ever expanding gut? WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF LUCAS!?
- jedinate, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Thank you for saying that. It is all too true.
- bagboyrebel, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Wow you people are whiny! So the prequels weren't as good as the original trilogy, so now we must all hat Lucas Because it's a crime against humanity for later movies to be not as good as the originals. Give it up, the prequels weren't that bad. Definitely not as good as the first three, but they were still enjoyable movies. And as far as the Clone Wars movie goes, I think it looks awesome and the people complaining are just bitter about stupid things.
