- corywingerter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+288Peter: Everybody, I got bad news - we've been cancelled.
Lois: Oh, no. Peter, how can they do that?
Peter: Well, unfortunately, Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We just gotta accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows like: Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonderfalls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls The Universe, Skin, Girls Club, Cracking Up, The Pits, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda At Large, Costello, The Lone Gunmen, A Minute With Stan Hooper, Normal, Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddie, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric The Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, and Greg The Bunny.
Lois: Is there no hope?
Peter: Well, I suppose if ALL those shows go down the tubes we might have a shot. - asif5th, on 10/12/2007, -8/+161The only reason I ever put on G4...is to watch Arrested Development.
- slothchunk, on 10/12/2007, -18/+143Arrested Development, the funniest TV comedy in history. There’s no debate, no wiggle room, no weasel words. It is the best.
amen. - chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+119And almost all of theses were on Fox. Fox has the unfortunate habit of creating original, entertaining series and killing them before they have a chance to take off. Oh well, at least they offer them on DVD, check them out if you have time to spare.
Other shows to add to the list:
Wonderfalls
Undergrads
The Critic
Futurama (possibly being revived)
Veronica Mars (not canceled yet, but if renewed will have a new cast save for the title character) - gr3yn3t, on 10/12/2007, -4/+103The Screen Savers & Arrested Development
Although I think A.D was just too clever for most of the population - philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -7/+89Uhmmm Futurama???
- burkewendt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+77Dugg for Freaks and Geeks, Arrested Development, Undeclared, the Tick..... actually, just dugg all of the shows
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+67I wonder if "pay to watch" (i.e. iTunes, etc.) will open up new opportunities for shows the big studios refuse to fund?
I'd happily pay $1.99/week to watch Firefly. How many more viewers like me would be required before Whedon could say "Forget Fox, I'm going to keep making this show myself and sell episodes exclusively online." Half a million? A million? More?
Like music, I yearn for the day when the bloodsucking, shortsighted middle-man is eliminated and the artists can sell their wares directly to their appreciative fans. I know the day is coming, but how long will we have to wait? - Autoclave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+56Only if you consider 10 seasons and a movie being cancelled before it's time
- robotomeister, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46Anyone remember Gargoyles??
- diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -9/+51Analrapist, FTW.
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44i loved john doe!
- g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -9/+48coughFARSCAPEcough
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!!!
...i've made a huge mistake - whorn76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Agreed. Nothing like Farscape being replaced by Tremors: The Series!
Dugg for Brisco County Jr. and Firefly. John Doe would have been a good one to keep around. - wild, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37Its pretty simple really. 1 million dollars prize to the winner of a reality show (plus sets and crew, and what not), or paying for talent, writers, and the crew for between $750k-1mil per episode...
You can run the apprentice at a low rating and still make a profit. You can't do that with talent based shows. And each season, the costs go up as a cast become mores critical to a show. - likuidM5, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Arrested Development has given me and my friends enough quotes and gags to keep us laughing for years .... God I hope this show is SOMEHOW revived in SOME way in the future ... Sadly, it probably won't happen ..... C'MON!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36But you're 12, you probably watch MTV still, too.
Hot Chicks != Good Show - theclar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26I submit Get A Life with Chris Elliot
- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
- ikak, on 10/12/2007, -8/+33OMG CLONE HIGH! should have been on that list.
- citizen132, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26RIP Arrested Development. You are missed.
- VeryAngryJim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Stella. Just got done watching some on Joost. Damn funny show most of the time.
- arbulus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26I think that the only thing that really be worthwile would be to cancel G4 as a channel all together.
- dunezone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24"I am not a number — I am a free man!"
The Prisoner - nixr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20"Steve Holt!"
- whiterocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Mr. Bananagrabber agrees.
- kypen, on 10/12/2007, -11/+30No MST3k? Are they kidding?
- erkayae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19The new Dr Who show more than makes up for it's absence
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27They misspelled "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" 13 times...
- str3ama, on 10/12/2007, -11/+29the only one on that list that I care for is Dead Like Me, the rest are understandable. I mean the Tick was really really really bad. Undergrads I thought it was funny when the show was on air, but after seeing an old episode of it recently, it's not as funny as I thought. I would think Firefly will eventually make it back due to huge popular demand.
Shows that were Cancelled that Someone Somewhere Probably Watched:
- That's my bush (it didn't make it in to syndication, otherwise I'm sure they'd play the hell out of it)
- Joey (please let this show remain dead) - diggB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Samurai Jack.
Where the hell are you???
You still need to finish off Aku! - Renniks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Incest FTW!!!
"Don't be afraid to ride her buddy; hard!" - retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Before anyone says Stargate (sg-1), it has been good. They're ending it well (2 movies), and according to several fairly legitimate sources, there's going to be another series created, at the moment it's being called Stargate Universe, and some of the old SG-1 crew may either be going to "Universe" or Atlantis.
I'll miss SG-1, but I'm ok with it going. It was (as far as I'm aware) the longest running sci-fi series ever. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Eerie, Indiana
- burkewendt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21you're dumb
- royalwcheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17The State from MTV. Or Liquid Television. The original Aeon Flux series.
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Rome.
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Dugg for Firefly.
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Dugg for Dead Like Me and Arrested Development.
- lebe0024, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Arrested Development is the king of all comedies, ever, period. Anyone with $50 should go out and buy the DVDs right now.
Freaks and Geeks was also an excellent show. RIP after one season. Unbelievable. - Picciuto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Forgot one: "Greg the Bunny"
- tconnect80, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Curb Your Enthusiasm is very funny but it can't hold a candle to Arrested Development. Curb works on one level: Larry David is angry. That's great and all but it doesn't even come close to the subtle genius of AD.
As for people who say Firefly deserved cancellation, you simply have to watch it the way it was intended to be. The 2 hour pilot first and then the rest of the episodes in the order that Whedon wanted them aired. Not the mish-mashed, annoying order that Fox put them out in. Do that and I challenge you to not rush out and buy Serenity and start secretly referring to yourself as a 'Browncoat.' - PooPsnooP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Terrible description of Sports Night. Sure it was a great show, but the laugh track wasn't its downfall. The show got rid of the already barely-there laugh track at the beginning of season 2.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -2/+15Ohh I remember another good one.
Early Edition.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_Edition
I /loved/ Early Edition. - TylerLavite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The Screen Savers, we all miss that! i would do anything to get that show back. i want every episode on DVD i wish they would sell that every one would buy it.
- mutatron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I think we're overloaded with psychic ghost-whispering detectives at this point.
- valehru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Carnivale, I almost cried when I heard it got canceled. That cast was incredible. I kinda miss Millennium as well. Could never understand why it was cancelled in 1999 and not in 2000 when it would have made some sense. That show was so well shot, even by today's standards.
