- darkened, on 10/12/2007, -8/+240That anorexic chick makes me want to puke, shes disgusting. The only thing she should be a model for is a billboard for an eating disorder clinic.
- crumbelievable, on 10/12/2007, -11/+182"I am all curves and flesh, not skin and bone. Boys, who would you rather snuggle up to?"
Y..y..you Ms. Hunter. You're perty. [blushes] - StealTheRR, on 10/12/2007, -14/+184Seen the picture of the "size 12" woman? She's beautiful! ^_^
- ChemEng, on 10/12/2007, -3/+161How about these pictures of the 2 women to help decide:

Much better without the distraction of that awful swimsuit... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+171I think even the "too fat" chick looks a little thin compared to real women I see in real life who are hot.
Maybe this has to do with the fashion industry being partially dominated by misogynistic gay men. The women who are judged as good looking are the ones who have starved away their femininity to end up looking like boys. - otatop, on 10/12/2007, -6/+154The "too fat" chick is smoking hot. The other chick needs to eat a few dozen cheeseburgers.
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/12/2007, -3/+106Size 0 girl looks like an alien.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+89I'd hit that...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73I don't like my ladies small and skinny. If I can break them by giving them a hug, then they ain't for me. I like my ladies to have some meat, potatoes and a little bit of gravy on them bones.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+63It's just the ugly-ass bathing suit.
- rhesuspieces00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51whoa, i did not need to see that second picture. anorexia is not the way to start the day.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50I just love how for this story pressing the enlarge button under the picture actually makes the pictures smaller.
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47WOW ChemEng, those pictures are waaay better at showing the difference. The size 0 is SO fugly compared to the size 12.
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47Anyone have a different pic of her? Ummm to compare to.........
:^) - madrid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41@chemeng
Damn, she's hot. I'd take the "fat" chick any day over "heroin chic". - Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42All I've gotta say about the supposedly 'fat' girl is "Niiceeeee"
If you couldnt see the skinny girl's ribs sticking out, she'd be pretty hot IMO. *edit* not in that second link. I like skinny girls but she's just pushing it too far. - unknownunknowns, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38@dagnabit
The year 2002 called. They want their "Americans are fat" joke back. - mabba18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35"It's fantastic to know the public prefer a woman with a few wobbly bits over a stick insect."
Mmm, wobbly bits, my favorite bedtime snack! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34"Blame gay men, yeah that must be it. And the audience is all gay men too, I suppose. Must be a lot of gayboys in the UK."
I'm talking about the fashion industry, not the particular nation(s). How many straight men go to fashion shows and if they do, how many of them go to enjoy looking at the models? - ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -10/+38Yeah I would hit that fat broad like a caveman.
There really is no way you can call her "fat" though. That nasty trick on the bottom looks like death. - maffiou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Agree with you... Don't know anyone that would look nice in this swimsuit: It's just hideous...
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27They don't even mention the personality issues involved with a size 0. Who the hell wants to have any sort of a relationship with a girl who doesn't fricking eat anything when you go out? I hate that. If I'm ordering a steak, you aren't allowed to order a single piece of dry toast and a water. Likes hotpot and has a sweet tooth? That's more like it.
- theenginedriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25She was apparently on a diet of lettuce leaves and diet Coke for 3 months. It amazes me how some people can completely ignore any sense of self-preservation they may have.
- LLLSecretChimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I think it's probably designers want people to look at the clothes and not the model, which is why they end up with models that look like clothes hangers.
- cadavreexquis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23This is Daily Mail. It's probably rubbish.
Also, Size 12 in the UK is the equivalent of a Size 10 in the US. - ModernTenshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23And she wants us to take her to our local McDonalds.
- RobRush, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25"it fell well below the minimum BMI of 18 for models taking part in Madrid Fashion Week in September, set after catwalk model Luisel Ramos dropped dead from self-starvation."
what a way to go... how do you do that?
"oh i wish this skin tight bathing suit hung a little looser off of me..."
size 12... i'll take it - cell00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Agh the second picture made me cringe so badly. I was like hugging my stomach making sure it's still intact.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23around here she would get jealous looks. that girl is very thin.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -7/+25That and models all pretty much have to be the same size so that fashion designers don't have to worry who they're making their clothes for. If you've ever met any more than 1 model you'd know this, I was on a plane with 5 of them once and was struck how they all had exactly the same build, it was quite freaky.
Regardless of who is more attractive (clearly the non-boney girl), a girl with a UK size 12 frame is too big to be a fashion model. Sad but true. - LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24The skinny girl is too skinny and the size 12 is perfect.
HOWEVER
I *HATE* when "side by side" comparisons have a clear bias towards one or the other. You see this most often with "before and after" weight loss pictures - One fat, hulky, sad picture with bad lighting compared to a more slender, happy, playful person in perfect lightning, often in a completly seperate outfit.
The skinny girl is entirely too skinny, but did they need to make her look like she's about to kill herself? - webbsk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18She's not "oddly shaped". She's shaped like a woman - they tend to have round hips. Unless they have BMI's of less than 20, of course.
- GMorgan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Diet Coke! Weak minded fool should have drunk water. Distilled so that she didn't get any calories from the impurities.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15That swimsuit really is ugly
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Interesting the difference between what Madison Avenue thinks is hot and the view from say Playboy. To me Playboy has more clue to what's hot than most modeling agencies. Their models are in shape but not rail thin. I like curves, there's nothing appealing to me about heroine chic skinny. And I think the majority of men would agree with me.
What's odd is that there is at least some recognition of that in modeling centers. How many pairs of Guess jeans did Anna Nicole sell? - joemama82, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I totally agree that Jen Hunter (size 12 lady) was much more attractive than Miss Berglund (size 0)... but those pictures are just a *bit* biased. The picture of Hunter was obviously taken in a studio, with a nice pose, charming smile, and excellent lighting. The picture of Berglund was taken outside, with no pose, no smile, and terrible lighting. Put her in a studio and have her pose for the shot with some real lighting, and I'll bet she would look worlds better.
Like I said, I'm not into the stick girls, I find it disgusting, but those pictures were just ridiculous. - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16that skinny girl made me fill ill a little bit.
The "fat" girl on the other hand... - bowdie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Marianne Berglund (the skinny one) looks like a condom full of walnuts.
Christ girl, here's a bacon sandwich, ffs! - Xsol, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19Giggity.....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+125 5 and and 155 lbs used to be the average build of Miss America.........in the 1950s. Before the obesity epidemic it was also close to the size of the average American woman.
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Hells yeah. What's really depressing about this whole article is the realization that most "chic" media outlets would consider someone like a Marlyn Monroe a fat pig in today's society.
- theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14FWIW, Marylin Monroe wore a size 16! Of course dress sizes have changed over the last 50 years, and she probably would be considered a "fat" 12 today.

Skinny chicks are nasty. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I have no problems with her looks ( the non-starved one ) at all. I would take her out on a date and feel damn lucky.
- HelenVr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10BTW--
Since this is a British article, the lovely gal is 154 pounds, and an AMERICAN size 10.
so i am guessing that she is about 5'9" tall. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Nearly a quarter of Britain's adult population is clinically obese.

***** you, dagnabbit. - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Didn't I see that skinny one in the last zombie uprising? *tries to remember*
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"Make Me A Supermodel winner Jen Hunter"
She still won, end of story. - DooM, on 10/12/2007, -13/+19Oh, please -- talk about creating your point. Of course the Size 12 looks better, she's made up while the 0 is rumpled, she's smiling while 0 is just standing there looking hungry, and she's posing while the other is just hunched over. I'm not denying that 12 looks better here, just that THAT WAS WHY THEY SELECTED THOSE PICTURES.
- Steel_Blue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Girls, if we can't see your ribs, then you're not pretty." - Colbert
- JorgeGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7LOOK, GORDON! STALKERS!
