- therernospoons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+85Scifi Friday is nothing without Stargate SG-1!
- darthsuo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+56yeah, it was just beginning to really pick up again, with the whole Ori storyline . . . well, keep in mind that the actual show isn't cancelled, if it finds another network, it'll continue
- SonnyW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+44There is still hope:

- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -8/+50firefly can't really compare to stargate which is on its 10th season..
- Firemeboy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+51They said the same thing about Arrested Development and Firefly... :(

And let them know what you think about their decision to cancel SG-1 and bring the "fine art" of wrestling to the grid.
If enough people bitch, who knows? - Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -14/+48Okay, I've been a little disappointed with SG1 as of late - but COME ON. Why the hell would they cancel SG1 and KEEP Atlantis? That is just totally absurd. SG1 was disappointing, but Atlantis is downright insulting.
Bah Humbug! - Timan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34Well least we know the rest of the season won't be crap... Can't believe they'd cancel it right after its 200th episode. Kinda a smack in the face to the fans imo.
- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35what are the chances of being picked up by another network?

Canada, V5M 3Z3 - daveddd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32The facts:
1. Wrestling on SciFi
2. Cancelling SG-1
3. Having to watch Farscape reruns on OTHER channels
Are they purposely trying to run the SciFi channel into the ground.
BTW: I still believe all the Baldwin brothers suck - kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33I think the furlings got pissed off after being made fun off in ep 200 and brainwashed scifi channel into cancelling the show.
- MrBond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Heh...but really, I did find SG-1 a bit lacking after Anderson left. For me, he was on of the best fixtures of the show. It's definetly hard to replace the wit and humour he added to the series. After his departure, it really only seemed a matter of time before they would cancel the show.
I don't mind Atlantis at all, though....it's become one of my favourite shows as of late, and can't really figure out why everyone gives it such a bad wrap. It's had it's bad epidodes, much like SG-1, but it's been really enjoyable seeing the stargate world from a different perspective (and galaxy, for that matter). - omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27This seriously pisses me off. I've been a faithful watcher of SG1 since 2001, NEVER missing an episode as it airs. I've spent over $400 on the DVD sets, and have even thought about re-purchasing seasons 1-8 with the new thin cases.
As a side note, does digging the link mean that I'm digging the cancelation, or just trying to bring more attention to it so fellow Gaters can register their discontent? - LRKirsch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I can't believe Sci Fi has done such a stupid thing, unless another Earth-based series is going to replace SG-1, and it doesn't sound like that is the case (yet). I really hope MGM finds another network for SG-1. It sounds like the cast and crew were ready for season 11, which would be very nice for resolving some things in the series, even if there will probably be a series-based movie later. This makes me very concerned about Stargate Atlantis as well, but I now wonder if some SG-1 characters are going to wind up as regulars on Atlantis.
Also, not surprisingly, someone has started an online petition. While it could very well not affect any decisions, I figure it can't hurt to sign it, so please do if you would like SG-1 to continue, and please spread the word:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Stargate/index.html - GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22***** YOU Sci-Fi. Stargate kept you alive when you SUCKED.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Not good, unfortunately. Off the top of my head, I can't think of many shows that have been picked up besides SG-1, ironically (from Showtime).

LET THEM KNOW WHAT WE THINK! BRING SG-1 BACK! - infra172, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Also, there's a good chance now that some of the SG-1 cast will jump over to Atlantis (hopefully Shanks and Black).
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18It happens. I mean there's no rules saying that SG-1 can't be on Channel X and Atlantis be on Channel Y. I don't particularly care where the show is, it'll get my viewership.
- w3bslinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17@darthsuo
But would the producers really split their shows - SG1 and Atlantis - between two networks? - KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17what the *****, I thought this was joke at first. The storyline is starting to pick up too.
- mdweaver7485, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It will live http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/cooper_isg-1i_will_go_on.shtml
- w3bslinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15As long as they resolve all the lose ends (whcih I doubt they'll manage within this season) and end SG1 gracefully I dont mind. What I dont like to see it plot threads hanging losely without explanations and wrapping up the stories in a hurry (like Alias)
- pcheaven2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13You guys are missing what is really going on.....They aren't going to cancel SG1, per say.....What they are planning is to spin SG1 off into another show with some of the cast retiring (getting killed off), some of the cast (like Daniel Jackson) moving to Atlantis and some of the cast (Like Amanda Tapping) moving to the new series. They will likely not kill off or move everyone in the SG1 series before the show ends, but will follow the end of the series with a Made-For-Theatre Feature Film that wraps up the SG1 series and opens the door for the character moves to Atlantis and sets the stage for the new spin-off series.
- TheProfessional, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I really love the Stargate Series. Those and Battlestar Galactica are some of the best sci-fi shows out there.
Just last year Sci-Fi was talking about how much of an asset Stargate was to it, as it was the only show worth watching that brought people to the network (that and BSG) and so they aired stargate every night. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Poor Don S. Davis. He never gets a mention (by name) and yet everyone agrees he made a far better general than Beau Bridges!
(By the way, is it just me who thinks Beau Bridges looks and sounds like George W Bush?) - Spanktacular, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12All you people bitching and moaning, you do realize you're questioning the thought processes of network executives who have chosen to put professional wrestling on the SciFi channel, right? They're not exactly MENSA material in the top offices over there...
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12See, that's the good part of having the series end. The one diamond in the footballfield of rough. They can do things with the story in the ending episodes that they never could've done. They can make the program known to the public ( the program = the SGC ). They can blow up cheyenne mountain. They can have macgy--O'Neill build a naquadria bomb out of a few toothpicks, a rubber band, and some chewing gum, and have the earth explode violently. The options are endless and dramatic. I look forward to, and simultaneously dread the last few episodes of SG-1.
- zachblume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!1one1!one!!!! How could they do this to us? How? Why? No. I'm in denial now. No. No. No.
@ "Heh...but really, I did find SG-1 a bit lacking after Anderson left."
I agree, but I think Shanks was really holding the show up. The stargate sg-1/atlantis together episode totally ***** ruled ("You're not an ancient, are you?" Totally saw that coming, but it still ***** pwnt!!) and the ones before and after that ruled, as well. Everyone write letters to the scifi channel. We cannot just let this happen!
If this really does go down they should:
1.) Give us Anderson back for the rest of the reason in one way or another.
2.) Give us a playful episode where the team goes looking in another demension, for, say, the ancient device and meets the cast of the original stargate movie as alternative versions of SG-1
3.) Kill off and bring back Shanks TWICE in one episode, just to be funny
4.) Finish the goddamn storyline, pleaseeee - PYREX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12i knew i should have gotten that Nielsan box.
- Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Who else picked up from episode 200 that there will be another Stargate movie?
- Peve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I picked that up as well. At the end when marty says something about a new movie. I think there will be a TV movie or something like that.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Wow. I didn't see that coming. I had hoped that we'd get at least another season.
I do hope they reverse their decision with this. However, if not, there may still be a chance for MGM to sell the show on to another channel. I do hope they find a buyer if that's the case. - therernospoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Just like the "Save Daniel Jackson"...and look how successful that was. The fans speak!
- willij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12This is so sad. Great show, crew, and actors. They do not deserve this.
- origclubsoda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Total mistake.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"I used to think Atlantis SUCKED... until I sat down and watched the Pilot Episode. I was hooked and had to get caught up before Season Three started."
So you used to think Atlantis sucked, until you actually watched it? If only people wouldn't form opinions on TV shows unless they've watched it. And I don't mean just watching some random episode, or Part 2 of a "To be Continued..." episode. People should watch shows right from episode 1 before dismissing them. I always gives new shows a chance before I say whether or not I like it. Sometimes you can watch a pilot and think "ok that wasn't very good, but the story could be interesting. I'll give it a chance". Then perhaps 2 or 3 episodes later you decide it's not what you like. But at least you'll know properly.
"I HATE Atlantis"
"How much have you seen?"
"I saw a photo of the cast in a magazine about 6 months ago, and it looked like crap!"
I have to deal with people like that constantly.
To all the trolls in this thread, if you're going to badmouth my favorite show, at least have the decency to WATCH THE ***** SHOW FIRST!
(PS I'm not usually this angry. It's a bad day for television and I feel entitled to rant at people) - Myomax65, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Looks like this is going to be another Farscape ending unless they somehow manage to wrap up the storyline the second half of the season. Of course, it might just lead to another spin off the way SG-1 spun to Atlantis. Just don't replace it with something horrific like Tremors. I can see it now, a new "Save SG-1" campaign.
- killdashnine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11My wife and I watch both religiously, but I'd have to say that all things eventually come to an end and it may be better to let go now while they're on top of their game rather than let it peter out and become completely retarded.
I want to believe that after they took on Ben Browder and Claudia Black that they'd pass the torch. Perhaps this is just a prelude to something completely new? - AnalystX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This is the story that finally got me to register on digg.
I think the next best thing for the series and franchise is to feed it through a company that has lots of promotional power. Imagine ABC picking up the series. Since Disney owns ABC and MGM Studios, visitors to WDW might one day get to see a Stargate themed attraction. This also means Stargate SG-1 on ABCHD. Steve Jobs could do a better job managing Sci-fi's assets than NBC Universal executives. - celopes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Good job, Anubis (and thanks for the opportunity to say "Anubis")...
Don't just e-mail them at feedback@scifi.com, take 10 minutes and write a quick letter to the head honchos.
Be nice and corteous, but state in no uncertain terms that wrestling going up and SG-1 going down makes no sense, not only as a fan but as a business plan for them. - Trkstr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11We as such a powerful community on digg should write to someone or get the attention of scifi channel and see if we can bring about a change. I don't wanna see this show get axed and i know many of you don't.
- freebirdpat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I picked it up too, I was actually curious why I did not see others pick it up around the internet forums, it was so heavily hinted at, I still have bruises from it. Although some of the "Wormhole Xtreme" actors were giving me a vibe that the show was "over" as this says, but that there was more going on.
Although my guess is the latter part may be a figment of my imagination.
/goes to rewatch 200. - omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Ditch the bitch. Keep Ronin, he's a badass, and badasses are always cool... like Samuel L. Jackson. They can get rid of Dr. Weir though... I've never been a big fan of her. I want to think she's hot, but the funky hair and occasionally irrational decisions keeps me from really liking her. I'm glad they got rid of Ford though. That character just plain sucked.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Cancelling SG-1 is going to be interesting. I mean they can't really 'kill off' the SGC and they can't shut it down. If they were to write in such a storyline you're then screwing over everyone in Atlantis.
SG-1 cannot have an 'ending' as such because whatever affects the SGC is certainly going to affect Atlantis in one way or another. -
