- FoxtrotYankee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62I was genuinely interested in this show but I refuse to watch it because of what they've done with Studio 60. Listen up NBC: cancelling shows we love before they have a chance to hit their stride means retaliation by viewers. We will just stop watching your new shows. Don't think your viewers won't take into account your loyalty to your previous shows in deciding to watch new stuff.
I've had ABC on a "No New Shows" boycott for a couple of years now because they just won't stick with a clearly good show when it isn't an immediate hit (like Karen Sisco, Eyes, Sports Night, Cupid and the list goes on). If they manage to launch a good show and it seems to be something they'll stick with because it is an immediate hit, then I'll catch up on DVD (like I did with Grey's Anatomy).
Fox and NBC are next on my ***** list. Keep taking off the good shows and putting on more reality crap. The viewers you want -- those of us with big disposable incomes -- see pretty clearly when you screw over our favorite shows. And we'll just stop sampling your new stuff each fall. - daworld, on 10/12/2007, -26/+73How come there wasn't support like this for Studio 60?? Or even Andy Barker P.I.?
- dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -20/+53The chick on this show is hot as hell.
- Bubbaboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27I've never watched this show... big fan of studio 60... BUT you gotta love the absolute CRAP they are replacing these shows with: "The Real Wedding Crashers"... what a friggn Joke.
"On April 2nd, 2007 NBC announced that Studio 60 would not reclaim its Monday at 10pm time slot at the conclusion of the Black Donnellys's run and that The Real Wedding Crashers, a reality show based on the popular movie, would occupy the timeslot from April 23rd, 2007 through the end of the TV season" - obixx, on 10/12/2007, -66/+91Bah... the show sucks anyways.
- wilcap, on 10/12/2007, -11/+33Don't cancel The Black Donnellys. Not every tv viewer is an idiot who only wants to watch American Idol. There are a good many of us out there who enjoy a good drama.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -8/+29oh ok, as the president of NBC, you've convinced me with your always successful internet ramblings. congrats public!
- joshreed104, on 10/12/2007, -25/+43Please let this show die so Studio 60 can return! I watched a little of this show, and Studio 60 was SOOOOO much better. (And yes, I know they're two different genres and are supposedly incomparable, but when Studio 60's status is partially dependent on the success of The Black Donnellys, I'm really pulling for the death of the Donnellys.)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -21/+36Awesome show, why arent people watching it
- Cowmin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20Did you see the ***** on tonight? - "Thank God you're here"
There were two episodes on and I fell asleep during both of them. Instead of a good crime drama they had C list celebrities trying to be funny. - 1807, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13You mean to tell me those American Idol fans can save a no-talent @$$ clown like Sanjaya but Black Donnelly fans can't keep their show on the air?
- NextGEN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Metal, you ever hear of something called the NCAA basketball championship? Maybe that affected the ratings...
- Sil369, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"really shouldn't be pulled of national television after 7 episodes."
Well, nowadays, if the first episode of a new series doesn't crank out 200 trillion viewers its first run, it's gone.
Every season it's the same thing... 70%* of new shows are cancelled.
* I'm sure it's more like >50% - offput, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14no ***** eh? It's almost as if the creator of the show Paul Haggis knew the story cause he ***** grew up in London Ontario.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -20/+30Awesome show. Don't let it go.
- tropican8, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Andy has not canceled. NBC doesn't have a lot of confidence in the show, however. There is still time to get out your soapbox AFAIK.
- jacksinn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13If NBC doesn't see the errors of their ways, I hope HBO picks it up. This show has too much potential in the directions it could go. It is refreshing in the face of all these mind-numbing game shows seemingly made for idiots. The directors are great and the screenwriters are awesome. I just do not see the justification in pulling the show other than if it simply isn't getting ratings. I guess pride in a series and integrity in providing good television is easily surpassed by the money generated and greed well fed by series and shows that rely on a dumbed down audience.
The Donnelly brothers should kick NBC's ass and find a new neighborhood. - joshreed104, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16"Not every tv viewer is an idiot who only wants to watch American Idol. There are a good many of us out there who enjoy a good drama."
i.e., Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - Orbitzal, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23I really got into this show. it's too early to cancel it. The show needs another chance
- whyno, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17seriously they stopped it at probably the best episode... really gave a feel of how great the rest of the season could be... stupid *****' NBC
- Velirno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Yeah good luck getting the show to stay. Maybe NBC will listen to their viewers...unlike FOX...(grumble, grumble, grumble)
- jeanias, on 10/12/2007, -14/+23Don't get me hooked on this show and then take it away!! Monday night was the only night I would plan to sit down and watch TV!!
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9 Its getting screwed? I was just about to start watching. It looked really interesting, I hope it sticks around.
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's amazing the number of people so hateful toward this show. It didn't "SUCK" at all, but so many people act as though it killed their grandma with a push mower. Just because you lost your favorite show ever doesn't mean every other show sucks. Get the ***** over yourselves.
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -20/+27maybe its not that awesome....
i mean... people usually like awesome things. - miyamotofreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8TBD isn't in Boston (its in NY).
- TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'm holding out for Fox Force Five.
- boat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10did anyone see what they had to replace the Donnelly's some crap called thank god your here what the hell such garbage i am so pissed why why why
- yoshihama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Agreed. I actually thought the show was ok, but now I'm somewhat ashamed to say that out loud since these other idiots (or maybe idiot) is trying to fake a huge public outcry on Digg with a bunch of fake accounts. If they'd just bring back Studio 60, I wouldn't have really minded at all, but "The Real Wedding Crashers"? Give me a break.
Actually, now that I think of it, maybe it's a good thing since now I'll be able to watch Heroes and 24 both on Monday nights. - erikdigg83, on 10/12/2007, -10/+17Please! Please! Please! You can't cancel this how just because it hasn't 1 billion watchers! This is one of the best show i have ever watched... i'm italian and i watch it from italy if that counts...with many friends..i'm going to ask them to do the same thing i'm doing. i don't care if the show has already been cancelled. I want it back. And i think i'm not the only one. People all over the world watch it. It has an awesome story...well shaped character...excellent soundtrack...what more can i say? i was looking forward every week for the new episodes. everyone wants to see what Dokey will do...See...it's not only about maximum share sometimes..you have to realize that.
Keep this show alive and you won't regret it.
erik - italy - userChris, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18Hell, I love this show, but I sure don't watch it to "Enrich your television viewing experience". That's ***** creepy, talking like a telemarketer
- jaundiced, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13such a blatant abuse of Digg --- look at all the brand spanking new accounts created just to digg this... 'irishfairytale'? c'mon... keep your plights on your blogs, and don't fake accounts just to get more diggs, because thats pathetic, and pretty transparent.
- Frozo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14I know I'll be dugg down for this, but from a viewpoint of someone who tried to watch it once... My first impression was they were way too young to be sooo damn serious. Kind of annoyed me, to be honest. That may be a common problem non-fans have felt. Granted, it was a first impression, but that's the majority of what most people judge new shows on.
- TheIconoclast31, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16I just got pissed off that they showed commercials for the show twice every commercial break while I'm watching Heroes. Give me a ***** break!
But meh, maybe I'll get addicted to this show too. NBC has some great shows.. - isosceles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Regardless of the arguments of the show being good or bad, I would hope everyone agrees it's a million times better than Deal Or No Deal, Dancing with the Stars, Nanny ...., Wifeswap, Identity etc. There are so many other shows that are just awful. At least this show is a drama with a story--not a "reality" show or new age game show with overly enthusiastic contestants and bogus rules. The only reason they would cancel this show is because it's more expensive to produce than an hour long Deal Or No Deal "special". Do people really sit down to watch these other shows? Or does it just come down to the fact that nothing else is on so they watch it? Fox canceled Arrested Development and that show was absolutely perfect--light years ahead of these typical overbearing wife and dimwit husband sitcoms. Networks figure if they have 6 million viewers and spend several million dollars for an episode they can replace it with a lousy "reality" show (or something similar) and gain the same amount of viewers because it's the only thing on.
- Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I love both S60 and TBD so bring them both back. Both were new and fresh to Network TV Land. Plus the story was just starting to evolve in TBD as well as S60. You know that the Donnellys are going to run the Irish in that town. Dokie is done... he's too sloppy and arrogant which will get him nowhere. I just wonder what role Shawn will have in the show considering he was only in the show for about 1/2 and episode, got his ***** tore up and now has been nothing but a mama's boy for the last 2 episodes.
Plus Jenny is HOT AS HELL! - RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9it was hyped heavily, had a carry-over audience from NBC's Heroes. But the B.D. couldn't hold onto to the viewers. It had one of the best timeslots NBC had to offer.
But not much else is on NBC...what are they replacing it with? Some lame reality TV show? - trer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Heroes can't come back soon enough...
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Solid reasoning man, you're clearly a *****' genius. I guess you aren't the demographic they were shooting for. Enjoy Deal or no Deal.
- Gerolsteiner, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Bloody hell, I didn't even know it existed until now. Perhaps that's what's to blame. NBC didn't even put effort into marketing it, and now cancels it. I wonder if its politics within the office and personal rivalries that allowed this damn good show to be stillborn on purpose.
- jordansampson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11perhaps they are not the same person. perhaps they are people who were modivated to join digg to show their support when they saw the story.
- MSOcontrol, on 10/12/2007, -15/+20I can't believe a show this absolutely original and entertaining can even be considered for cancellation... Go to NBC.com and catch up on the episodes you've missed and I guarantee you'll be happy you did.
And help us by DIGGing the article so that we can help spread the word. - carniv0re, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Has anybody checked HollabackGurl's digg history? 90% of it's about The Black Donnelly's. If she isn't a corporate shill, I don't know what is.
- RoyHobbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I love this show, but it doesn't do any good if we all watch it, it only matters if every person (family) that is a Neilsen family watches it. That is where the ratings come from. I will write to keep it on though.
- crxyem, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12wow, a lot of people getting dugg down. Although I do aree it's one of the better new dramas to hit the scene and really shouldn't be pulled of national television after 7 episodes. I'm sure we can come up with more substatial to comment on other than "please don't cancel the show". This show is really starting to get interesting the plot keeps growing, characters keep getting more interesting. The script writing has been done very well too, but that's to be expected given Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco are the creators and co-producers of The Black Donnellys. Maybe some descent conversation will bring the diggs this show deserves
It was really in the wrong time slot to go up against a well established show like CSI, which I have tried to watch but every week seems like the same regurgitated crap. - donkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I thought Black Donnellys was one of the best dramas in a while.
- zebstah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5infekted: no offense, but you clearly were a little clueless. That cop was friends with the Donnelly's and wasn't actively or actually looking for the truck. It was more of a warning to the boys to be careful.
- NYG1988, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6NBC - this is why your network is falling apart.
- KennMac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And do you really think America has complete control over who stays and goes in that show? If it's more profitable for Idol to keep one person over another, even if the vote count doesn't favor this, guess who is going home? It's their show, they can do as they please.
- err0r503, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I have refused to watch even one episode of this show, since NBC keeps killing every good show that does not have a huge reality tv "following". When they canned Studio 60 I simply gave up, and with the new crap they just announced It looks like things are just going to get worse. I just hope that one of the other networks pick up and start putting "smart" tv over the ***** reality tv. Or if they could actually give a show a full season to catch on before killing it. Look at how many sucessful shows would not have made it if they would have cancelled them before the first season.
Oh well, Im over my rant... -
