- daleok, on 07/13/2009, -2/+21Exactly what is it that he does that is worth $45 million?
- ManUnitdFan, on 07/13/2009, -2/+18Can someone explain to me why Fox doesn't just fire him and hire someone else for 1/100th of that amount? I'm pretty confident a trained monkey could do his job, and I have a hard time imagining he has much of a fan base.
- StevieJanowski, on 07/13/2009, -1/+16Great for him, now when is he going to come out of the closet
- jdames1980, on 07/13/2009, -1/+13You have got to be kidding me. What does any of this have to do with Obama? Seriously, WTF!!
- Turkman182, on 07/13/2009, -1/+10Thank god. Now I can sleep at night.
- bf01, on 07/13/2009, -1/+7For all of you that think Ryan Seacrest doesn't deserve the $45M: would you rather that money went to the suits that run the show? Personally I'm glad that he is soaking them for all he can.
- awtripp, on 07/13/2009, -1/+7I was going to digg your comment, then you had to blame it on the president. You're a dumb ass to even suggest there's a correlation. The USA holds its entertainers so far above everyone it's ***** gross and we've been doing this for decades. Get a ***** grip on reality.
- darkened, on 07/13/2009, -1/+7$45 million dollars to be Ryan Seacrest? WTF IS GOING ON WITH AMERICA.
- anderzole, on 07/13/2009, -1/+6Seacrest is one lucky SOB.. All that money for all that "work"
- bpeacock22, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4WHAT FOR!?
- casspa, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4I don't watch the show but I have to say I at least saw this coming with how much hype there was around last season. It seems they were rejuvenated by the Lambert hype...
- Tenareth, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5He is a Brand at this point, and the counter to Simon.
Also, he apparently has a very good Agent that knew how to use that. They make a lot more than that on each of those wonderful contracts the winner is stuck with.
Granted, has anyone noticed a trend where the really good ones don't want to win, they want to be 2nd? No contract to be stuck with, so you are a free agent and will tend to make more money and have more artistic freedom than the winner. - PhilliesBlunt, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4Seacrest... OUT!!
- brianbb98, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5sonofabitch 3 more years???
- awtripp, on 07/13/2009, -2/+6What does anyone in the entertainment industry do that's worth even a million?
- HeyaBILL, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5Adding "welcome to obamanation" to the end of a completely unrelated post is a very recent development in trolling theory. Please do not fall for it.
- protogenxl, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5FOR WHAT?!
- jhails, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3Fox would not pay him 45 million if they felt they could not turn a profit on the series, his agent is obviously very persuasive, this is the type of television fodder that millions of viewers want to see and advertisers want to reach. Sad but true.
- AmyVernon, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3Or that anyone cared that he was gonna leave?
- escapeartist, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3FOR WHAT?!
- Brew, on 07/13/2009, -1/+4...Where did I go wrong in life.
- HeyaBILL, on 07/13/2009, -1/+4I was starting to worry we wouldnt get another incredible season of American Idol.
- seroevo, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2This is why it's ok to look down on your fellow human beings for being the lesser members of the species.
And not Seacrest, I mean all the tards who would stop watching Idol if the arbitrary face talking to them from the magic box were to change one season. - bpeacock22, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2He must have one hell of an agent!
- lossless22, on 07/13/2009, -1/+3Maaan!
***** this Douchebag!
no-talent-ass-clown - goyney, on 07/13/2009, -1/+3I think I'm more outraged that we're going to have to deal with at least 3 more years of the worst television programming known to man.
- CaptainScarlet, on 07/13/2009, -3/+4I actually hate "American Idol"...To me, It needs to be cancelled.....
- inactive, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Better Seacrest than Fox to use to fund their propaganda news station. amirite?
- publiclurker, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1He manages to get people to watch the show and therefore be shown advertisements. Why this is the case is a question left for the reader, as I can't stand the show and have probably only watches a few minutes when flipping through the channels.
At least the producers get something for their money from this guy, unlike bank execs and CEO's who get paid even more money for destroying things. - darkened, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Yes but the problem is, garbage like this takes up the most valuable time slots on TV that if other shows were placed in those times slots would actually be successful. Like the Terminator Chronicles. Instead of being delegated to the off time slots which is a self fulfilling prophesy of failure.
- PowderedToasty, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I like karaoke as much as the next guy, but this crazy ***** has gotten out of hand.
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Again, Fox does not own American Idol, CKX Inc does, and they are the ones paying Ryan.
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Hmm...how does Fox have anything to do with who hosts American Idol? Fox does not own the show, so they have no say in the matter. All Fox can do is take American Idol or cancel it, and they aren't stupid enough to cancel it.
The show is a cash cow and paying 15 million a season for Ryan and probably 100 million a year for Simon is a drop in the bucket for CXX. - KSUdesigner, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1You could just not watch it. It isn't that difficult to deal with.
- PowderedToasty, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I don't watch American Idol, but I'm pretty sure the people who do don't do it so they can see Ryan Seacrest. This *****'s crazy!
- gaqua, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I can't imagine anybody would stop watching American Idol if Ryan Seacrest left. In fact, some people might START watching it.
- bpeacock22, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I was confused by your comment for a second: I read that as resign as in he was leaving, instead of re-sign. Reminded me once at work when a secretary left a document for me with a post-it note that said "please resign". We laughed pretty hard after figuring out what happened. Ha ha...
- gaqua, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Technically anything without a script is a reality show.
Jeopardy is a reality show, for example.
Although the twisted irony is that a lot of "reality" shows are "unofficially" scripted. (The Real World, for example) - SouthsideIrish, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1You are forgetting all of the syndication rights for American Idol Rewind, so he is just not getting paid for the original run of the show. This is the difference between how stars were paid in the past, and how they will be paid in the future.
- MMusick, on 07/13/2009, -3/+4I don't know which is worse, that he resigned or that American Idol is still around in the first place.
- bpeacock22, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Reality competition show?
- BigPapi, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Considering they're going pay Cowell $144 million per year, Seacrest might want to ask for more.
- pintomp3, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I hear Sarah Palin is available and could use the money.
- SouthsideIrish, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Read the article, Fox is not pay him because they do not own American Idol, CKX Inc does, and is the one with the money.
- Atario, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Why?
- lebruf, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Is it only me or does it seem like he's the human version of the Geico gecko?
Not his voice, just the looks. - Fazaman, on 07/13/2009, -2/+2Idol's not a reality show, it's a contest show, or a game show, of sorts. COPS is a reality show. </pet peeve>
- DahRecords, on 07/13/2009, -3/+3Lol at the word "re-up"
- purkel, on 07/13/2009, -1/+1Pretty disgusting if you ask me.
- sgerwel1985, on 07/13/2009, -0/+0What the ***** does this have to do with Obama at all?
And i'm not an Obama supporter, but jesus christ, ya gotta know where to draw the line man. -
