- topherker, on 03/18/2009, -18/+403If by "unfair" you mean truthful, insightful, correct and completely fair in every way, then I agree with you 100%
- mentallyinhell, on 03/18/2009, -9/+335What's so absurd about calling people out on their *****?
- TruPhan, on 03/18/2009, -3/+281"This show isn't fair...it's not supposed to be fair. That's not our jobs."
~Jon Stewart to Jim Cramer, March 13th, 2009 - Jhiaxuz, on 03/18/2009, -4/+198It's rough when the CEO of NBC has to defend his network from someone on the Comedy Network.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -7/+174Jeff Zucker is a moron.
- dchaosdx, on 03/18/2009, -3/+169It would have been a little different if Jim Cramer didn't admit that everything Jon Stewart said was correct.
- IrishJoe, on 03/18/2009, -5/+127Jeff Zucker: I think the Daily Show was completely out of line and incredibly unfair to use actual video of our CNBC anchors to highlight that they don't know what the hell they're talking about and in some cases are as guilty as the Wall Street big boys in breaking the law and hiding that from the SEC. It's absurd I tell you!
- DenverMadMax, on 03/18/2009, -9/+130Jeff Zucker you just earned yourself a lot of haters.
- poisenloaf, on 03/18/2009, -4/+98Jon Stewart is going to have a hayday with this.. He was just pointing out the lack of real journalism by CNBC, not that they actually caused the crisis.
- veganpa, on 03/18/2009, -4/+81NO WAY!
The obscenely-rich defend the mega-rich??? - IrishJoe, on 03/18/2009, -3/+63Like I tell my kids when they whine that things aren't fair like Jeff Zucker is doing here with his "incredibly unfair" whine. Life isn't fair, kids. No one said Stewart is fair let alone completely fair (whatever that means). But when you show actual video of CNBC talking heads showing that they don't know what the hell they're talking about and you show video of one of their top anchors admitting to breaking the law and hiding it from the SEC...Houston we have a problem.
- bombula, on 03/18/2009, -2/+53Jeff Zucker ... prepare to be destroyed by Jon Stewart...
Man, will these people never learn? - IrishJoe, on 03/18/2009, -2/+51It's typically not done in the mainstream media. To an NBC exec it's like speaking Esperanto.
- ASfinkterSezWut, on 03/18/2009, -1/+42Even CRAMER himself admitted Stewart was justified in his indignation... Zucker is just a ***** tool.
- PrimaryRamus, on 03/18/2009, -0/+37NBC's CEO says that their own company is doing fine? That is AMAAAZING!
It's kinda like OJ Simpson saying he didn't do it and I believe him! He was there! - kp998, on 03/18/2009, -6/+42Say What? Arguing that people can't blame what happened on the business media, Zucker particularly defended CNBC as having done a "tremendous job."
- crazystar, on 03/18/2009, -6/+41Jeff, you are absurd and and completely out of line.
- monkeyrun, on 03/18/2009, -1/+32lol I can't believe he's the CEO of a media company.
First rule of defending yourself against reality?
Shut the F up, do not comment, do not respond. - JamesWjRose, on 03/18/2009, -2/+28To make things a bit fair: It should be known that
a) Taking financial advice from a guy who runs a financial show like a morning radio zoo dj might be a bad idea.
b) Financial advice from ANYONE should be taken with more than a bit of sceptisim as there as simply too many variables for acuracy.
That said, these shows do proclaim themselves as all-knowing. (ie: "In Cramer We Trust") That should be a warning to both the broadcaster and the audience as... well, CNBC, etc are not Gods of The Market... no one is, no one can be. And therein lies the problem. Networks advertise themselves to be above the compeditor to get people to watch them instead of the competition. Honesty seems to take a back seat in advertisting. So, in all, it's the same old statement: "Buyer beware" - dsmx, on 03/18/2009, -0/+25Jeff Zucker: I also think it's unfair for the daily show to use facts and evidence to justify what their saying, how can we keep our sponsors happy and keep our credibility intact if someone points out our blatant lies and misleading infomation.
- dsmx, on 03/18/2009, -0/+23Just shows how bad the MSM is at reporting news. If people have to go to a comedy show to get informative information something is very wrong.
- gyronic, on 03/18/2009, -3/+25"absurd" and "completely out of line"
How DARE anyone trash his ADVERTISING DEPARTMENT(CNBC). - inactive, on 03/18/2009, -2/+23I do believe NBC just passed the torch of must watch TV, because Jon Stuwart is going to be incredible tonight.
- Pottersquash, on 03/18/2009, -3/+23Dont Stew the Stewart man, it never works. Man took down Crossfire, he ripped Cramer, He's not afraid of anything, men least of all. He's fast and strong like a big wind. He can hear a hundred miles and see a hundred miles underwater. He can hide in the shadow of the noon sun. He could be right behind you, and you won't even know it 'til you're dead!
- LawScholar, on 06/25/2009, -2/+22Hey Zucker, here's something you would know if you remembered a basic intro mass media class from college: You bear at the very least SOME responsibility for the things that you put out on the airwaves. Your programs, your pundits, YOUR advice was partially responsible for the loss of savings for thousands of people as your people told them emphatically NOT to worry about the markets when they clearly should have been worrying their ASSES off.
You can't just step back and say you're innocent, and that Jon Stewart is out of line for pointing out your network's irresponsibility and throwing-darts-at-stocks way of doing business. When you give people advice, and in some cases that advice ruins their entire life savings, you cannot with a straight face tell America that you weren't in some way culpable. Shoulder some responsibility, you dick. - gberkshire, on 03/18/2009, -1/+21Jeff Zucker also thinks letting Ben Silverman run a network is a good idea. This is why NBC is #4
- enshadow, on 03/18/2009, -2/+21Jeff Zucker clearly doesn't follow Jim Cramer's advice on how to invest his money or he would feel significantly differently.
- monkeyrun, on 03/18/2009, -2/+21And went back to his "entertainment show", continue to jump around like a freaking clown.
- inactive, on 03/18/2009, -12/+30CEO? More like blowhard.
- TheAngryMob, on 03/18/2009, -2/+19"Stop making funna me!"
"Mommy!!!" - zyklon, on 03/18/2009, -2/+19Exactly. People who defend themselves so hard are usually wrong in the first place.
- billraydrums, on 03/18/2009, -3/+20And this guy became CEO of a major network? What a ***** tool. There's VIDEO PROOF that his boy Cramer ***** up and he wants to so cavalierly refute that?
Zuck you, *****. - Stormwern, on 03/18/2009, -5/+21Someone has some sand in his vagina.
- teamgwho, on 03/18/2009, -2/+16Do CNBC *cause* the financial meltdown? No. Extreme risk by corporate heads did. lack of oversight by government did. Greed and outright fraud did. What CNBC did was allow it to remain hidden by failing to ask the corporate elite the tough questions. They allowed it to remain hidden by not asking government why they weren't doing their job when they were loosening the rules and regulations that were put in place to prevent this ***** from happening.
What they do was a complete derlicition of duty. - rotundo, on 03/18/2009, -0/+14There's actually some great irony going on here, since one of Stewart's main criticisms was taking CEO's at face value when they talk up their company.
Thanks Zucker, I'll file your thoughts on NBC right next to Alan Schwartz's thoughts on Bear Stearns. - rotundo, on 03/18/2009, -0/+14There is something major messed up with the MSM. I remember when Colbert ripped on the Bush administration at the white house correspondent's dinner, and it was such a shocking and amazing thing because he was one of the first to blow the lid off all that stupidity. Just about nobody in the traditional media had the balls to.
Stewart is in the same boat: he's one of but a few people who actually hit this stuff with smarts and asks the questions that I'm thining. It's shameful that a comedian is tasked with keeping people on their toes. But God bless him. - Jrod65, on 03/18/2009, -1/+13Seriously though, it's a sad day for free speech and a strong press when the only news program not afraid to call "experts" out on their bullsh*t is a comedy news program on a first tier cable network.
- shadyacres, on 03/18/2009, -3/+15Jeff Zucker = Douche
- jamaster06, on 03/18/2009, -1/+12Zucker should go on the Daily Show to do his bellyaching.
- m3arvk, on 03/18/2009, -0/+11You forgot ***** Zucker.
- Jhiaxuz, on 03/18/2009, -0/+11It's ironic because now people who may not watch The Daily Show or know about it will tune in just in time to see Stewart rip NBC down again because of this.
- drunkenoaf, on 03/18/2009, -2/+12Did Zucker even see the interview?
Perhaps he should watch it, then he might realise that CNBC has lots loads of credibility.
I'm in the UK, and all of the newspapers covered it... and were on Jon Stewart's side. - useraccess, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9Jesus Christ...we all know that he is a comedian. That said, he is more pertinent and helpful to the American public than any of the pushover reporters out there today. CNBC is real legitimate when they are constantly spreading business propaganda for their CEO friends. It is kind of funny that it takes a comedian to get to the real truth. Even funnier that people use his background as a comedian to try to discredit him.
- CaptObvious, on 03/18/2009, -2/+11You know what else is unfair? Using your cable network to influence people to buy stocks you own, I'd say that's pretty unfair.
- CannedMango, on 03/18/2009, -0/+9It's not calling out Stewart that will infuriate people, it's the fact that he's trying to make common sense seem "nutty" and is attempting to re-entrench existing flawed practices as if they're working and should be allowed to continue.
In a sense, he's attempting to undo the forward progress that Stewart has accomplished by bringing this issue to light. - erkokite, on 03/18/2009, -5/+13Jeffy gonna cry cry?
- mdbsat, on 03/18/2009, -3/+11Wow NInja, you are moron.
- JoeParanoid, on 03/18/2009, -1/+9NBC needs to grow some balls and a sense of humor. C'mon: they've done nothing but screw us and now they're pulling a Marie Antoinette?
- diggduggDOOM, on 03/18/2009, -2/+10There was hardly a peep on TV about this feud after it became clear that Stewart was calling out the media (and CNBC in particular) and not just singling out Cramer.
He should have shut up and just hoped this thing would blow over. I hope this ends up sinking CNBC. - hatdrop, on 03/18/2009, -0/+8you don't question the corporate media, they're 100% truthful and 100% most-est hardest working people possible! they would never let their financial interests ever step in the way of doing their job!
