- davecapp, on 09/08/2008, -3/+67I watched this show the other day and was deeply disturbed. Several of the children were showing clear signs of Schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses while their fat, uneducated parents attributed them to superpowers. It's extremely sad that these children may not receive the psychological care and treatment they need before it's too late and their untreated illnesses potentially cause serious harm to themselves or others.
- DPolitico, on 09/08/2008, -2/+64When I was growing up adults called this "a child's imagination."
- Railoc, on 09/08/2008, -1/+45That was beautiful. I hate cable "psychic" shows, there's absolutely no critical thinking whatsoever.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -1/+43They should make a reality show where people who try to pitch reality shows are shot in the face on the spot.
Except for me, because that show would kick some ***** ass.
"Oh, so you think because you're a celeb that people would be interested in how your daughter quit school and worked for your nephew's banana farm? *shoot*" - AtomicSpike, on 09/08/2008, -2/+39Everytime I see a commercial for an A&E show, I keep waiting for the announcer to say "A&E...less artsy, more fartsy".
- goddarpc, on 09/08/2008, -4/+35i hate psychics
- gskill, on 09/08/2008, -0/+25Just too many reality shows. Please stop making them!
- Mononuclear, on 09/08/2008, -1/+17I haven't seen the show but I would guess most of it is just imagination. As the parents reinforce the idea they have special psychic powers and give them more attention the kids just milk it and play along pretending to see even more stuff.
I doubt any of the kids have any mental problems but if the parents continue to convince the kids that they have supernatural powers then it is possible the kids will have mental problems later on in life. - Kallius, on 09/08/2008, -2/+14"Psychological care and treatment" to these parents would probably be a good old fashioned exorcism, complete with stake and bonfire.
- folkish, on 09/08/2008, -5/+15Another A&E fail show... if only they didn't cancel Paranormal State!
- davecapp, on 09/08/2008, -1/+11Some of the kids were obviously just playing for attention, but at least one of them was continuously sent into screaming fits from the intensity of her headaches that usually accompanied her "visions". I am admittedly not completely knowledgeable on mental illness, but that seemed like a major sign that something serious was wrong with this child and she wasn't just playing pretend. To add to that, the mother wasn't taking the kid to a real doctor and was instead taking her to "healers" and mediums.
- davecapp, on 09/08/2008, -1/+11Nah, powers are only Satanic if the parents can't profit off them. These are a "gift from God".
- plhofmei, on 09/08/2008, -0/+7This sounds like a bad rerun of a bad 1990's movie. *groans*
- bicyclethief, on 09/08/2008, -2/+9So this is what's become of civilization...
- SmooveO, on 09/08/2008, -1/+8"come on baby, i'm an internet celebrity"... i'm going to have to use that line.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+7Dugg for hitting a kid in the face with a rock. Also for gay Chip Coffee.
- Sylocat, on 09/08/2008, -1/+7The things these people do for ratings...
- twiztidsinz, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6Watch Psych on USA.. good stuff.
- toasterweasel, on 09/08/2008, -0/+6I knew you were going to say that.
- grungegbunny, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5I watched the show once. AWFUL! Some old man took a group of these psychic kids to places he told them were haunted, once there he would nag and nag and ask them if they felt anything while he himself said he was feeling things too. Obviously coaxing them into the answers he wants which is extremely damaging to the children IMHO. In addition the parents or mothers it seems are also encouraging the children to talk about what they see/think/hear I see this as just encouraging the children to lie for the extra attention these believers are giving them. All the while the show never ever offers any real evidence or the children ever say anything that can be fact checked to verify this paranormal status. Completely fake and they all need serious help.
- sk11, on 09/08/2008, -2/+7Reminds me of a Texan mother who received reassurance, from church goers, about hearing voices. They claimed that she was lucky as god was directly speaking to her. Of course, they later claimed it was the devil all along when the voices drove her to murder her three young children.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5It was fruit punch!
"thats cause your girls dont bleed yet. my girls got mad flava, heavy flow"
RIP Justin Pierce - scoottie, on 09/08/2008, -2/+7/sigh
- redfred18t, on 09/08/2008, -3/+8The best HBN yet. Good work Gladstone
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+5Two hours of TV I can get behind. Psych and Monk (although this season is only meh so far).
- cateraction, on 09/08/2008, -3/+8Gotta love Gladstone
- chrissku, on 09/08/2008, -1/+5Remember the movie Kids? That was so ***** up.
- enantiodromia, on 09/08/2008, -4/+8it's funny that the people who are likely to believe this stuff are members of a religion that would have burned them alive, for believing this stuff, a few hundred years ago.
i guess that's progress? - inactive, on 09/09/2008, -0/+4@sk11
I thought that was so funny, until I realized stuff like that happens. - lestyoubejudged, on 09/08/2008, -1/+5I haven't seen the show either but based upon the HBN clips, you don't have to wonder too hard about who bought the crystals for little Molly.
- Gonasadude, on 09/08/2008, -2/+6I can see how it went down:
AE Staff #1: Sir, the average intelligence rating of our audience just fell another 5 points. What should we do?
AE Staff #2: Well, we need to appeal to them. How about we create a show only an idiot would believe.
AE Staff #1: Like a show about Scientology?
AE Staff #2: You said it fell 5 points, not 50. I'm talking more like Ghosts and the Supernatural. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+4best movie of the 90s
- Theresa42J, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4Kids can easily fake this. Kids say they see dead people,(alive)people belaeve them and put them on TV. More kids are doing this so they can be famus or be on TV.
- Lasereth, on 09/08/2008, -7/+10Did anyone ever see the Paranormal State show. That is the biggest bunch of fake crap I've ever seen on TV. What a waste of time and money. "I call upon the Archangel Michael" WHAT, you do know that ghosts aren't real right?? And people eat this ***** up.
- scoottie, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4the difference is one is people old enough to think for themselves and the other is kids that are just doing what thy are told by their parents
- scoottie, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4when did they cancel paranormal state? the website doesnt even hint at that.
- JustinHopewell, on 09/09/2008, -0/+3Assuming I believed any of these kids were psychic, I would agree 100%. They're being whored out, either way, and possibly led to believe they actually are psychic.
- Doomxeen, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3That really is a disgusting show. They are at best playing along with a child's scream for attention and at worst encouraging a mental health issue that needs immediate help.
- wgladstone, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3well, thank you ( i guess) but I don't see why you'd like this one and not the earlier F*cking Science one. Go check it out. Maybe you'll laugh. Or maybe it will give you one more reason to hate me. win. win.
- inactive, on 09/08/2008, -0/+3Agreed. Should it star the same kids from the psychic show, or different kids?
- vandamonium, on 09/08/2008, -1/+4I don't who you are, that there is just damn funny. I know exactly what you mean.
- toasterweasel, on 09/08/2008, -2/+4Or A & E Art and Entertainment television...
We put the "taint" in Entertainment...
wait a second... - RobotBuddha, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2It's funny how ghosts just seem to disappear the second a real skeptic walks in. I would love, 'love', to believe that there was more to me than the interaction of biological neural networks that will start to rot within minutes of my heart stopping. But there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that it's the case, and no evidence which doesn't magically disappear the second it's critically examined.
- Gonasadude, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2I guess you also don't know about double negatives.
- wgladstone, on 09/08/2008, -1/+3me? or ....
- Wakkyweed, on 09/08/2008, -1/+3My wife loves this show. I spend a lot of time doing face-palms.
- hypnotistess, on 09/09/2008, -0/+2This gets funnier and funnier. Gladstone for President!
- folkish, on 09/08/2008, -2/+4I predict it will be cancelled in the near future...
- norman619, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2I've watched a couple episodes. This show is epically bad and hilarious. The adults feed into the fears and apparent paranoia of the kids often. They will go into an empty house and wander around saying crap like "You feel that?!" They will point to empty space and say there's a "demon" or "ghost" there. LOL!!!!
Not sure how this show got green lighted. - mythicflux, on 09/08/2008, -0/+2No... you don't. Really.
