There will be a lot of business lost both on the net and on the TV if Jericho is really gone. No one can be happy with CBS now...How much money can they be losing from all it's popularity??? Who made this decision honestly and why?

Now, isn't THAT interesting? On the heels of its cancellation, Jericho is named one of the most popular in downloads! It begs the question: why aren't you listening to ALL of us, Nina Tassler and CBS?? (Welcome2CHO)

CBS made the wrong decision when they cancelled Jericho..........obviously. The network of the future that truly takes into account all forms of viewership to judge ratings with will be the one I will choose to watch. Jericho fans asked for a fair analysis.........I personally don't think we got one.

Advertisers listen up - no quality TV = no quality viewers.

They make it available for viewing by using alternate methods and then use it agains ust. If you want us to watch it "live," don't make it so easy for us to use other means..

Jericho was the most popular show, and CBS cancels. CBS only counts the Nielsen viewers. Go figure.

Now wouldn't you think that being one of the two most popular downloads would count for something? The networks need to get their heads out of sand and take a good hard look at where the viewer really are - both offline and online.

"Jericho" have been the most popular shows thus far." Well, well, what do you know CBS, people DO watch Jericho. Okay, yeah, sarcasm. It just that they are sitting on a goldmine with Jericho even thought the Almighty Nielsen doesn't show it. But its not just CBS, its the advertisers and media buyers who need to take the leap into the here and now and see what the endless possibilities are, not just with Jericho, but all quality programming.

In the end, I don't think anyone among the PTB knew what to do with JERICHO. They didn't seem to know how to schedule it in order to attract viewers (and then advertisers) or how to market it, also to attract new viewers and to retain older ones. I continue to support efforts to find the appropriate home for this intelligent, imaginative gem of a show. (PV544)

I say, boycott CBS if they cancel Jericho, let's show them who's the boss. After Jericho, let's not go to their website, let's not tune in to their channels. Subscribe to their rss, just in case Jericho comes back. I think this is doable, What do you think. Let's instruct all our families, friends and their mothers, to do the same.

I'll only be satisfied when my video player ceases to say "This feature is unavailable in Canada".

Networks keep shows on the air because they can sell advertisements during a show's time slot. If people are not watching the show ON TV then no one is see the advertisements and thus the network can not make any money off the show, hence it gets canceled.

If a show is popular in downloads, but people are not watching it on TV, it stands to reason that the network would cancel the show. If you want a show to stay on the air, you have to watch it on TV. That's how the current model works, period. Do I agree with this model, no I do not, but that is the way it is.

Along the same lines as Jericho, on Hulu Firefly is one of the most popular shows of any genre available despite it being canceled after only one season by Fox in 2002 over *six years* ago.

This seems to be just another step in a growing trend. You've got the traditional media companies (RIAA, MPAA, network television, print news) all scrambling to make money, canceling programming left and right, crying foul over piracy and citing flagging retail sales and Nielsen ratings as their justification. Then you have the hordes of "new media" consumers, those of us that grew up with computers (or at least were exposed to them from a fairly young age). We're demanding content how we want it, when we want it, where we want it and on what we want to play it. Unfortunately, Old Media hasn't yet caught on to the fact that they are no longer in charge. I don't want to watch Jericho on Friday at 9. Or Thursday at 10. Or Monday at 8:30. I want to watch it when it's convenient for me. I don't want to be forced to watch lame commercials for 17 minutes out of every hour. I don't watch them on my DVR and I didn't watch them before DVR (flipping channels during commercials).

With the technological advancements we've had in digital content distribution over the past five years, what does Old Media do? Put up a few of their shows on a website, show them in relatively low resolution with crappy audio, and disable fast forward/rewind. Nonsense. I download shows from BitTorrent because I can get relatively high quality rips of my favorite shows whenever I want them, and with no restrictions on their playback.

The battle-lines are being drawn. One one side, Old Media; on the other, New Consumers. My parents and grandparents were ok with being told what to watch, when to watch it and how to watch it. They believed that was just how it's done. Well, that's not how it's going to be done for much longer. And the companies that catch on to this (the way, for example, Valve has embraced digital distribution with Steam, and Apple with iTunes) are going to be well rewarded.

The battle lines have been drawn....the consumer is sick and tired of having good shows cancelled because of inaccurate counting. CBS, this is only the beginning of the new American Media Revolution!

On the heels of cancellation, we get this news. Something is seriously wrong at CBS and Nielsen. We will fight on to save Jericho, and more importantly, to take back our television sets!

Once again a good show is taken off the air. Imagine--A show that had a plot instead of just plain stupidity. Not only does Jericho have a story line but it has character development. Something you seldom get to see anymore. Hopefully a network with some common since will pick it up. Schedule it at a reasonable time slot, advertise so we can find it, and let the story continue all the way to the top of the rating charts where it belongs.

Tech, or no, TV channels where your stuck, or have to subscribe to tivo etc. Smaller brands compared to Google, are now innovating to capture not ad sense type dollars but advertising space on streams. Plus people can get what they want how they want it so if as in Jericho's case they could monetize the downloads, pay for the show to continue, and fans where go where they are listened to and if popular could even do better in this medium.

How much more evidence do we need to realize that Nielsen ratings are antiquated and no longer relevant?
