- michaelpinto, on 07/09/2009, -8/+92What Plum TV has done is wrong: Chrissie Brodigan is known in blogging and social media circles here in NYC and any allegations of anti-semitism are preposterous and absurd. Not only that but anyone who has ever seen Chrissie would know that's she's short and of slender build - and for any police officer to view that as a threat would make question the judgement of that person.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -6/+50This is wrong on so many levels.
Boo to that dick cop.
Boo to that lying "witnesss"
And finally, boo to her employer. Way to back up one of your own, guys. - Rollic, on 07/10/2009, -7/+44This is just crazy. Plum should be ashamed of itself.
- jordantneff, on 07/10/2009, -10/+47FTA:
During the course of my arrest, I did not:
* Utter the words "Jewish" or "Jew."
...
"And, to be even more succinct, those words and statements have NEVER crossed my lips on any other day in my life. EVER."
So she's never said the word Jewish??? EVER?! - thejackyl, on 07/10/2009, -4/+38Shut up you ***** Jew.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -8/+23I hope she gets picked up by another company and is awarded compensation from her former employer! They've got a lot of nerve firing this girl. Wrongful termination lawsuit. Sue the ***** cop too, and police force.
- BasalCellBossk, on 07/10/2009, -10/+25^ weak, woman-hating, emasculated man outs himself. Film at 11.
- Protonz, on 07/10/2009, -4/+18She can't touch the police, evidently they can touch her though.
Until people stop assigning higher moral values to a police officer than they do a mall cop, this will continue and we will live in a corrupt society. The larger the power disparity, the larger the corruption. - ZenMojo, on 07/10/2009, -1/+14She prefers Hebraic.
- Animan351, on 07/10/2009, -5/+18I slam the cops all the time for being bastards, but I read the report of this and such after it first happened and consider the cop to be in the "right" and the woman being a total bitch and trying to escape from him while he was writing her a ticket and refusing to cooperate.
In other words this article is trying to lie on her behalf for headlines by making the officer look like he's in the wrong. For this occasion, I'm not saying the cops to blame for a change. - sychodelix, on 07/10/2009, -5/+17If you read some more into this and actually check out all the pictures, she's the one who looks hostile, not the cop. Also, the bruises that appeared are her arm that she's trying to use as showing how she was "brutalized" is because she has cystic fibrosis and it doesn't take much. Also, she should have bruises on her breasts if what she says is true, and I'm betting she doesn't.
Don't get me wrong, I've seen plenty of nasty cops, but this just smells like a crazy pug lady. - o76923, on 07/10/2009, -3/+13I think she meant she never used the word Jew in vain. That makes it ok, right?
- TheMu, on 07/10/2009, -1/+10This has gone bizarre quickly. The woman was accused of being a racist by a fabricated witness, and the fact that the alleged "bigotry" was against Jews changes nothing. It would be no different if the officer was black, Middle Eastern, or Asian.
Do you sincerely believe that no other racial sensibilities besides the ones "offended" here would trigger this sort of response? If so, you're an idiot. - TheMu, on 07/10/2009, -2/+10That is utterly absurd. If the officer was, say, the first black officer in his area, and she screamed out the N-word as she was being assailed by him, she would have been in the same if not worse trouble.
But then again, she never did any of these things, and she does NOT have racist predispositions, so the point is moot. Please go away. - CeeAyy, on 07/10/2009, -1/+8The dog wasn't dying and she never represented it that way. Nowhere does she claim that she was rushing off to some hospital. The dog was not in dire need of anything more than a bath if you go by what was written.
The dog was supposed to be in a carrier... he wasn't. Violation. She gets a ticket.
She refused to stop and comply while behaving in a belligerent manner. That's enough cause for the officer to forcibly stop her. She was yelling, causing public alarm, and refusing lawful orders. Disorderly conduct.
She refused to produce ID and therefore CANNOT be issued a ticket. Now you have to go to the police station to be identified and issued a ticket.
Nowhere did she take responsibility for her actions. If she had a dog carrier with her then she would have a leg to stand on as for explanation of why she was carrying him.
As for writing a ticket while she walked away... lol. WOW... "Mr. Officer, I'm busy and my dog is sick from riding on the train, so just follow me as you write the ticket. Ok? Thanks." Even in a perfect world where cops were all perfectly behaved that wouldn't make sense.
Why isn't anyone more upset about the existing law than the cop who enforced it. If it's a legitimate law then this is a non-story. It's obvious from the pictures in the subway that she is exaggerating and in some ways lying.
Also, for those that don't know, she has a medical condition that allows for her to bruise easily. Bruises on her wrist and arm are consistent with her being held as she tries to get away from the cop. Actually, even if she didn't bruise easily, those bruises are justifiable based on restraining someone who is trying to resist being handcuffed. If she had bruises on her face or somewhere unrelated to what was going on that would be a different story.
Lastly, you see a picture of the officer standing calmly holding her with on hand while she is obviously screaming. If he was truly trying to harm her the picture would look more like a Rodney King beating. If all of this horrible stuff was going on why aren't there ANY pictures to back up her claims of injustice? - inactive, on 07/10/2009, -2/+9...says the guy posting on a social media site from his mother's basement.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7Open your eyes.. been lots of stories about racist blacks here bro.
- anotherjack, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6It just seems unlikely that she would spend years majoring in this racial justice type stuff and then flip in a half hour to a crazy jews-run-the-world rant. It's not like a Christian preacher who secretly commits adultery. Its like a Christian preacher who secretly offers blood sacrifices to Satan. Just a complete reversal of character.
- CeeAyy, on 07/10/2009, -1/+7Show me where it says that the dog was dying. Show me where she claims that she was on her way to a hospital to save her sick dog. that would be horrible if true, but that wasn't the case.
It CLEARLY states that she claimed that the officers were playing with her dog at the station while she was locked up. Those are her words. The dog was fine. He threw up. Dogs do that, especially from motion sickness.
I know you feel as though you said something witty, but no... you didn't. Your comment had nothing to do with this story. I've met a lot of ***** cops in my life but this story doesn't qualify. - bilbohicks, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6You could start by putting a gun in your mouth. I'll leave you to decide what to do next.
- CeeAyy, on 07/10/2009, -2/+8The world must be coming to an end... I can actually relate to you on this one, a little anyway. I don't completely agree as it has nothing to do with gender nor height but angry entitled people are incredibly difficult to deal with. They feel as though rules don't apply to them and have no problem expressing their displeasure.
- jer21, on 07/10/2009, -0/+5Dude...you can't be dropping hard J's like that.
- CeeAyy, on 07/10/2009, -2/+7Why do you care so much about Liberals? This article has nothing to do with Liberals nor Conservatives. You act as though Liberals are responsible for all of the worlds ills.
BTW, hating someone because of their religion is not racist. Since when is your religion considered to be your race? Maybe you're thinking of bigotry... but aren't you always... lol. - inactive, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6and I'm sure you believe government officials resign to "spend more time with family".
- Animan351, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6I agree.
But the Old lady shouldn't have been tazed. There was not any reason he shouldn't have just overpowered her to the ground or even maced her instead of risking the problems associated with shocking her at that age. Not saying he should be severely punished or anything (bitch deserved it), but he was to tazer happy against a fairly harmless old lady. There were better (but not as gratifying in this case) ways. - Ascus, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6Now she can further her education of racial studies and bigotry when she can document when a person is labeled a bigot, it does not need to be true to complely mess up thier lives. We come so far, but bigotry doesn't die it just changes.
- GamerXR72, on 07/10/2009, -2/+7Hell, the newspaper should be sued for running a smear column.
- anotherjack, on 07/10/2009, -2/+7How you react to getting a ticket for being sick, or for having a sick dependant, depends on how you feel about the volition level of puking, and about being responsible for your dependants. If my kid or dog or granma peed on the subway, I'd take the ticket. If my grandma, dog, or child was sick, and I was taking her to the hospital, and she puked, and anyone tried to ticket me, I'd walk off and keep going to the hospital. Because some things can't be helped. I'm sure I would have cleaned it all up if I wasn't rushing my sick animal to a hospital. Refusing to cooperate? He can write me a ticket as he walks with me, maybe, but I think its clear the animal is sick and getting sicker and I'd have no time for drama. Like I said, if my kid or dog or granma peed on the subway, I'd take the ticket. That's because it's not a sign of an illness getting worse.
- Kinneas12, on 07/10/2009, -5/+10If I went through what she did, I'd probably of called him a ***** Jew. Not because I believe that but because I know it would hurt.
I'm not suggesting that she said such, though.
I'd of called that ***** every rotten thing I could think of, no matter how racist they sound. - bilbohicks, on 07/10/2009, -2/+7Anyone who uses the phrase "liberals" as if it describes some sort of homogenous group with a single point-of-view should be euthanised ASAP.
- porscheblack, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Since when did correlation equal causation?? They fired this woman who was also the woman claiming police brutality. That doesn't mean they fired her BECAUSE she was the victim of police brutality. They refused to disclose the reason, but could it possibly be that she wasn't a good employee? Let's not forget that this woman was detained after she refused to produce identification to the officer that was issuing her a ticket for the dog and that she resisted arrest after they tried to detain her for not producing the ID. Sounds like she might be a hard person to deal with and think she's better than everyone she works with... but I guess that implies to much reason and too little police and corporate bashing, so proceed to dig me down.
- fribhey, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4are you ***** kidding me? you needed to post this SEVEN ***** times? instead of telling others not to jump to conclusions why don't you provide actual proof for #'s 4-7.
- dvsbastard, on 07/10/2009, -17/+21Why is everyone instantly siding with Chrissie, when no one actually has any idea what actually happened with her employer:
FTA - A publicist for Plum TV writes: "Chrissie Brodigan is no longer employed by Plum. Her employment was terminated for valid reasons, unrelated to the determination of whether or not she made the objectionable statements as alleged in the press. We will have no further comment."
Now I am not suggesting she is either in the right, or in the wrong... Plum TV might be lying through their teeth for all I know... But what I do know is I don't have the full story - and neither does anyone else - So what's with all the jumping to conclusions...?
Then again, I guess jumping to conclusions without all the evidence is alright if it's a popular opinion... - Tenareth, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3She broke the law and resisted arrest... She was in NY, I'm surprised she didn't have the dog kicked out of the subway by a New Yorker.
- vtnerd, on 07/10/2009, -2/+5Of course the Plum publicist says it was valid and unrelated.
In other news, the sky is blue and the grass is green. - Latentsage, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Jewish can refer to both the religion and the race.
- Strenoth, on 07/10/2009, -1/+4So, apparently you never actually read the original article. Her dog was in the allowed and recommended dog carrying tote. Then it got sick in the carrying bag. She took it out because the inside of the bag now had dock-barf in it. AND, she was in the way to the vets with the dog (she has to get it there some how, and probably does not have a car)
So, circumstances are just kind of a little bit important here. - Professr, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3There is no stop and identify statute, so she doesn't need an ID unless she's driving a vehicle.
- bilbohicks, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3STFU you Yanky Pig-Dog!!
- sirmitchell, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Yeah, after a little digging she looks like a melodramatic-hipster. Her dog looks fine in one of the pics.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Yes. Both sides need to be told here.
I mean, imagine what would have happened to the cop that tazered that 'grandmother' by the side of the road if there was no video to back him up? - Dodobutt222, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3And that makes it okay for him to grab her breasts? No.
- Professr, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Listen, I agree she shouldn't have done what she did, but that still doesn't give the police the right to treat people that way. Whether or not she was in the wrong, what the officer did was still horrible and should be dealt with.
- Kinneas12, on 07/10/2009, -3/+5I hope your kids die in a car fire too...
Okay so maybe I don't but I disagree with your opinion, good sir. - DeWallen, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2This story is crazy. Well not some much the story itself, but the fact that I worked in the same office everyday with this woman and had no idea. That pug was soo damn cute. I'm gonna miss it around the office.
- diggimator, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2That is a rather odd statement for them to make. They have a "valid and unrelated" reason for firing her which is of public interest enough to make a public statement about it, but goes on to not explain a single word what it is. No explanation is not a valid explanation.
- sirmitchell, on 07/10/2009, -1/+3Her dog is fine and she's acting like melodramatic-hipster bitch.

Her dog is fine and she's acting like melodramatic-hipster bitch. - anotherjack, on 07/10/2009, -1/+3So, are you saying you would like to pay her cab fare next time? because from brooklyn to NYC can be 30$ depending on the destination, and can take a lot longer than the train. I respect a woman who takes care of her dog and brings it to get help.
- bilbohicks, on 07/10/2009, -2/+4@ssaya
Yeah God forbid someone might want to save their beloved pet at risk of mildly inconveniencing some selfish, over sensitive *****-heads. If one of my cats were ill I would gladly trample on your head to get it to the vet. - inevitablity, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2You don't walk away from being written a citation that leads to you being in handcuffs. You take the ticket and explain your situation to the judge who determines the validity of the summons.
