- nretamp, on 09/03/2008, -6/+114I'm predicting Obama gets interrupted at least 4 times, and BillO will give him the last word... at least 6 seconds worth.

- digitalmischief, on 09/03/2008, -14/+71i hope he gets a rabies shot first... karl rove might try to bite him.
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 09/03/2008, -18/+74There's no point, the idiots who watch the O'reilly factor won't be impressed, a muslim, non lapel pin wearing terrorist?
- Tanbo, on 09/03/2008, -1/+57Obama has already met with Murdoch and Ailes, in a hotel room at the Waldorf, to discuss appearing on Fox. They discussed how Fox had represented (or misrepresented him). Murdoch apparently finds Obama very appealing.
Basically there will be no sneaky stuff, and Obama can personally contact Ailes (the guy who runs Fox News) if he ever feels he has been misrepresented.
Here's how it all went down:

i would advise that the young senator walk with great trepidation...........dogs bite, and oreilly is a bitch. - courtarro, on 09/03/2008, -0/+53Bill will give him the "last word," then proceed to comment on it. That's his traditional wrapup.
- housewarmer, on 09/03/2008, -1/+53The first and hopefully only time I'll ever digg this bit of asci art ever.
- Lynx55, on 09/03/2008, -39/+90Obama will drop kick O'Reilly...but O'Reilly won't get it, and neither will his viewers.
OBAMA / BIDEN 08
The ONLY Intelligent Vote - seddyei, on 09/18/2008, -5/+50Don't cry "radical liberals" every time people don't agree with you. You made a PINHEAD statement about Bill O being a good reporter, when you can simply go on YouTube to see some of the absolutely ***** insane things he spews out. More like you are a run-of-the-mill NeoCon drone who hides behind a facade of "looking at both sides" when in all reality you feed ravenously on the ***** Karl Rove feeds your political party.
Have a good one, PINHEAD. (see what I did there?) - TrellSaracen, on 09/03/2008, -6/+47I'm almost afraid to see what happens. It's like a train wreck.
- stigma15, on 09/03/2008, -0/+40Regardless of your opinion of O'Reilly, this is actually a smart move for Obama. Kerry and Gore wouldn't go on his show (in election season) and it gave the perception that they were afraid to go into the right-wing lion's den. The fact that the timing is right doesn't hurt either. No big fan of Obama, but I'm hoping to avoid Bush 3.
- JoshuaH, on 09/03/2008, -4/+41"..***** THING SUCKS!"
Fixed. - chrissku, on 09/03/2008, -13/+49The audience that watches Bill's show is too stupid to get it.
- fadingsignal, on 09/03/2008, -19/+52Obama is gonna drop some science on O'Reilly.
(I hope!) - housewarmer, on 09/03/2008, -10/+41Nice sarcasm!
Oh wait, you were serious? - hamobu, on 09/03/2008, -8/+34Balls - Obama has them.
- Msoltanian, on 09/03/2008, -3/+27O RLY?
- Chode2235, on 09/03/2008, -0/+24He's doing it to show his base that he isn't afraid to go into the hornets nest and fight for his ideas.
Not being the typical Dem wimp, or accused of being one. Thats huge, and is an important step forward for progressives and Dems.
Remember when Bill Clinton went on fox, he totally pwned them, it was awesome. - IAmTheGuy, on 09/03/2008, -1/+23http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/obam ...
In order to bypass the Huffpost and get the actual article. - hellsing47, on 09/03/2008, -0/+20I think its going to be like the Hillary Clinton interview, where Bill is going to be unusually tame.
This will make him and his show look better. - thescimitar, on 09/03/2008, -2/+21It's funny to read these comments, people clearly don't realize how major media outlets (including Fox) work. Obama appearing on O'Reilly will provide ridiculous ratings for Bill and provide Obama with good PR. They will both be extremely civil; Fox will get a *****-ton of new advertising revenue.
Y'all are getting played like fiddles. There is no us-vs-them in the mainstream media. Just good old fashioned marketing. - maxer64, on 09/03/2008, -3/+22Laughingstock.
- eqlou, on 09/03/2008, -4/+22He was a good reporter on Inside Edition maybe... or not
- VitriolAndAngst, on 09/03/2008, -3/+21Larry King and McCain have so much in common. Larry invented softball, and McCain invented dodge ball.
- billyfalconer, on 09/03/2008, -2/+18They're already scheduled.
- runnernerd, on 09/03/2008, -5/+21So long as he doesn't get his mic cut.
- TotalHalibut, on 09/03/2008, -1/+17Welcome to your narrow definition of partisanship. Personally I watch neither, I have no need for the opinions of pundits, I do my own research. However, it is merely a logical conclusion that those who watch BillO seriously must have something wrong with them. It is an objective fact that the man is extremely biased, predatory, prone to spouting misinformation and has an agenda that cares less about the good of the country and more about his own misanthropic view of how things should be.
My politics are right-wing, but I couldn't possibly take this guy seriously, he's a vicious and unpleasant individual who's network and show are a mouth-piece for propaganda. - homer4199, on 09/03/2008, -2/+18I might have to endure the fuax for once.
- poprocksandsoda, on 09/03/2008, -1/+16To be fair, since when is Larry King anything more than a lovefest and people baring their souls about addiction, etc.? I'm a Republican and even I think McCain should face the Left under more scrutiny than that.
- mark925, on 09/03/2008, -8/+22Very cool.
Unfortunately no matter how well the appearance goes for Obama, O'Reilly will find something "controversial" and talk about it for another week. - TotalHalibut, on 09/03/2008, -2/+16What's he got too lose? Chances are that anyone who watches BillO unironically isn't going to vote for a black democrat anyway. At least he can say he's not a coward.
- bowens44, on 09/03/2008, -7/+20'Bill' is NOT a reporter. He is an arrogant, rude, bullying , partisan hack. Anyone who thinks that he is a reporter suffers from a serious lack of judgment. Are you a 29 percenter?
- fadingsignal, on 09/03/2008, -3/+16So pretty much like all real life interaction between everyone ever.
- sejanus2x, on 09/03/2008, -2/+14The difference between Obama and McCain:
Obama faces a tough interview from a man on the opposite side of the political spectrum;
McCain runs away from a softball interview by a septuagenarian because the network did something that made him sad. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -20/+30I don't understand what Obama thinks he'll gain from this. None of the brain dead zombies, racists, and pedophiles that make up BillO's audience are going to vote for him anyway.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -8/+18norman619, I guess this would be the time to accuse you of being a paranoid conspiracy theorist.
Grow up. Obama is man enough to appear on your boy O'Reilly's show. Just accept that he has the balls to take the challenge, sit back, and enjoy the ride. You can sling your aspersions after it airs, as there is no doubt you will find something in it to criticise. - duvar, on 09/03/2008, -1/+11i think what people aren't realizing is that each candidate has to get crossover votes if they want to win. This appearance by Obama serves a number of purposes. For one, to make his case to those who may be undecided. Secondly, he is showing an effort to cross party lines and have open discussions with people who vehemently oppose his views. Just the other day McCain ran away from a similar interview. Who do you want in office? Someone who is scared to face the enemy, or someone who walks right into the lion's den, grabs the lion by the throat, and slams him down on the ground? That's what Obama is going for anyway.
To the naysayers, Obama can hold his own easily against Bill O'Reilly and anything else that can be thrown at him. One of his biggest appeals is that he will speak completely openly about what he thinks WITHOUT sugarcoating issues or beating around the bush. His PR people might beat around the bush, but he doesn't. Even if he knows it's not the answer you want to hear, he'll tell you straight the way he sees it.
I look forward to this appearance, I personally think O'Reilly is out of his league here, and if he attempts to do anything funny he'll get squashed (eloquently). Regardless I'm also interested in seeing how Obama handles some tough questions. - seddyei, on 09/18/2008, -8/+18You're an idiot. Why would O'Reilly say that when he invited him to the show on Thursday. Oh wait, this is Bill O we're talking about, so he most likely will ask him that.
- highlymodified, on 09/03/2008, -11/+21Bill O is going to have his ass handed to him.
That is, if he actually has the balls to be as obnoxious to Obama's face as he is when Obama is hundreds of miles away.
This will be a great opportunity to rally Obama's base (because who doesn't love to point out how ***** nuts Bill is) and/or point out Obama's more moderate stances that even the Factor's audience can't ignore the logic of. - Gutterpunk, on 09/03/2008, -3/+13Oh it will come, don't worry.
- LeonHRodriguez, on 09/03/2008, -1/+10McCain should go Countdown with Keith Olbermann
- sublimemm, on 09/03/2008, -2/+11Palin's daughter's kid?
- FlaG8r, on 09/03/2008, -3/+12LOL, he's up 8 points and the Republican Convention has been a disaster.
McCain throwing a fit and pulling himself off of Larry King after Campbell Brown asked Tucker Bounds some tough questions looks childish and ridiculous to the nation. Nothing like looking childish and ridiculous on the 2nd night of your own convention. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -3/+12norman, you are a sad, pathetic little child-man. Come out of the darkness of your fear.
- an0nymous, on 09/03/2008, -0/+9Ecpect Obama to pull through with aplomb. He can debate.
