On Japanese shows somebody gets hit in the nuts and the audience laughs, the host laughs, the guy that got hit in the nuts laughs, its all in fun. On American shows everything is as dramatic as possible, the audience's motivation behind watching is malicious (they wanna see someone genuinely made fun of and hurt), and the contestants go home crying.
