- fedak, on 11/05/2009, -3/+31I'd add West Wing to that list.
- EMFK, on 11/04/2009, -1/+23Dugg for The Shield. I miss that show!
- nerddtvg, on 11/05/2009, -5/+26I'm actually pretty happy that E.R. is no longer on the air...
- LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -1/+21The Wire is the greatest show of all time. Seriously. That's not hyperbole. If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favor and do so.
- homer524, on 11/05/2009, -7/+20obligatory Firefly reference
- robbiedo, on 11/05/2009, -2/+15Stringer Bell was the greatest character in television history.
- Foenetik, on 11/05/2009, -1/+11I'm still mad about bodie.
- angrytortilla, on 11/05/2009, -0/+8I've been meaning to see Deadwood for many years now, I should stop wasting time and just buy those.
- lingyai, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9The Wire is the single greatest show to ever appear on American TV.
There are other good shows but nothing is as deep, complex, real, as The Wire.
Hell they are even studying it at Harvard

- badfishtoo, on 11/05/2009, -1/+8Six Feet Under is the best show i have seen.
- yosafbridge, on 11/05/2009, -4/+11I hate when people complain that their show got canceled after it already ran for 10+ seasons...or even just 3 or 4.
The only people who have the right to complain about "missing a show" are the ones who lost said show within the first 2 seasons. After your show passes the 100th episode mark it's no longer qualified to be put under the title of "Canceled to soon" or "Not given a chance"...
...Yes, this fangirl IS still bitter about losing Firefly. - LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7How was the finale weak and open-ended? I think the finale is what redeemed the final season. It was extremely poetic. All the efforts changed nothing, and all the characters were replaced by the next generation of the same thing (e.g. there was a new Omar, a new McNulty, a new Bubs, a new co-op etc. -- the circle of life). The few who actually tried to break the cycle (e.g. stop messing with the stats) got forced out. The scene where Bubs is finally allowed to come upstairs to eat, after a grueling journey, was completely heartbreaking. Carcetti, who always had good intentions, got mixed with politics and opted out of the right thing just to climb the ladder. In the end, the bad guys won and the good guys moved on. The show is extremely cynical and the finale portrayed that with amazing grace.
- Cyberdine, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7he may have been a bit cartoonish, but Omar was just ***** badass.
- shaymein, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Agreed. This was an amazing series that I could not put down. Luckily my buddies had all 5 seasons and borrowed them to me. Life stopped and a marathon ensued.
- LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Yeah, same happened here. It's an amazing show. The funny parts are hilarious and the sad parts made me cry. I think it's the extreme realism and amazing plot and character development that makes it so profound.
- rlbigfish, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6I wish I could digg your comment more than once :(
- LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Bodie =(
- HurricaneDC, on 11/05/2009, -2/+7I need The Wire on Blu-ray.
- Fantikerz, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6Kings.
- LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Stringer Bell was amazing. The Wire has a lot of exceptional characters.
- Falling2Rust, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Six Feet Under was the only show on the list I really watched on a regular basis. It was very thought-provoking and I miss it quite a bit. The ending was absolutely wonderful.
- TwwIX, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5The Riches - An underrated show about traveling Irish gypsies that had plenty of great character actors. It had decent ratings but the ***** canceled it anyway. Rupert Murdoch can suck my hairy nutsack.
- Sixagon, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4I loved how the Wire started off as a show about Jimmy McNulty's antics and ended up as a meditation on the redemption of Bubbles or maybe even the redemption of us as a society.
- tokuturfey, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Rome isn't mentioned? Not even in the honorable mentions? BS...
- falstaff, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4ER with Clooney, Edwards and La Salle...best drama on TV in the mid-to-late 90's.
ER after the 3rd complete turnover in cast...meh. - Moetownslick, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3great ***** synopsis.
- CourageWulf, on 11/05/2009, -2/+5Best cop show ever imo.
- Czechxican, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Shield is amazing. One of my favorite issues that they adress is that of homosexuality. Pretty weighty stuff in there for a cop drama and certainly not the standard portrayal.
- AngryDeuce, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3I'm still ***** furious that they killed Jericho off...
What a great show, with a great premise. - JoeRW, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Stanfield was the spookiest mother ***** I've ever seen on tv.
- diggdong, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3The past year it's been difficult to watch new tv shows because it seems if they turn out to be orignial and entertaining the ***** ***** network heads can the series.
- robbiedo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Omar's coming!
- marcoslee, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3What about "The Unit?"
- adml_shake, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2it getting canceled was enough to get me too stop watching anything on NBC
- EmitStop, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Six Feet Under was, without a doubt, the greatest show I've ever seen, (and I watch a lot of TV).
The Wire, The Sopranos, and Oz are also some of my favorites. And I've been meaning to get around to watching The Shield, but I after reading this, I think I might just add it to my queue. - PedleZelnip, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Obligatory response:
The Wire > The Shield. - TrevorBelmont, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3Deadwood is the best show ever made. I have still not been able to forgive HBO for letting it die.
- spootmonkey, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I love Stringer, but Omar is where its at. So good.
- zaferk, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2WHY IS OZ NOT IN THE MAIN LIST?
- adml_shake, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Dead like me. Though the wrap up movie was pretty good.
- rwiggum, on 11/05/2009, -2/+4No, there is still "too soon." When shows as game-changing as Arrested Development (which paved the way for shows like 30 Rock) or as utterly hands-down brilliant as The Wire (they're teaching it at Harvard for god's sake) are canceled because they couldn't get ratings, that's "too soon." Both of those shows were far before their time, and just because other great shows were canceled sooner doesn't mean that we can't lament brilliant cinematic television like The Wire being taken off the air because not enough people got it.
- Beatmiser, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Between Deadwood and Rome HBO is to me what Fox is to Firefly and Terminator Fans.
- homer524, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2obligatory cry =[
- TheBadWolf, on 11/05/2009, -3/+5Obligatory Firefly bury.
- uevan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Just started watching the show and I gotta stay its fantastic!
- Moetownslick, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2i'm watching it for the first time on DirecTV (they are replaying the series on T101)....GREAT show. I highly recommend it.
- JoeRW, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1When Bodie is asked about where his brother James is by the dude out from jail, the delivery of those three words 'James been dead' was amazing, stuck with me for a long time.
- Chibeli, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Came here to say the exact same thing. I've heard rumors that Eddie Izzard wants to make a movie that would conclude the storyline... /prays
- Shaggy6ster, on 11/05/2009, -1/+2I suppose it's categorized as sci-fi. but Battlestar Galactica should be on this list as well.
