- andrewrocks, on 11/14/2007, -2/+25Now if they could only get Barry off EastEnders...
- malfourmed, on 11/14/2007, -0/+22Lily Allen? Bah. Bring back SALLY SPARROW!
- riveraj, on 11/14/2007, -9/+24shes cute
- cfuse, on 11/14/2007, -0/+12Please god no. What's wrong with using an actress anymore?
- pennvneff, on 11/14/2007, -0/+11Well I guess we're all lucky that it wasn't Lady Sovereign
- jambox, on 11/14/2007, -0/+11Yes but she gets points back for the fellatio, at least in my book.
- sonycam, on 11/14/2007, -0/+11Basically Britain's answer to white trash.
- LargeTrout, on 11/15/2007, -2/+12For those Americans wanting to know what a Chav is, I found this on Urban Dictionary;
"Humanoid in appearance, but primative and animalistic in nature, chavs are fast becoming the bane of humanity. Now all but classified as a completely seperate species, chavs took the left of the fork on the road of evolution when everybody else went right. Today, chavs can be seen in almost every urban area of Britain. Easily identified by either their baseball caps, hooped sports sweaters, excess Burberry and impossibly colourful Nike trainers (male) or scraped back frizzy hair, earrings you could train a dolphin to jump through, cheap leggings and Reebok Classics (female), chavs hunt in packs. Unlike other species, chavs hunt for cigarettes and bus fare instead of food. Food is always obtained at fast food establishments such as McDonalds, or convenience stores (Spar, Late Shop). It is quite common for food to be thrown instead of eaten, with the chav preferring his / her fags and cider / Lambrini (charver cava). Chavs are normally hostile towards humans, particularly those who favour alternative music, whom they have branded "moshers" or "grungers". A chav's music collection is limited. Hip-hop and hardcore for the males, Britney and trance for the females. Dogs (the more volatile, the better), mobile phones, cheap or fake gold and "souped-up" (debadged) 1990's Vauxhall Novas are must-have accessories. Note: the above description typifies the average chav, but there are actually quite a few varieties." - gijoel, on 11/14/2007, -0/+10Lily Allen is pure mockney. This is taken from her Wikipedia page.
Allen claims to have grown up with her mother in a working class environment, living in a council house environment for most of her childhood.[6] This certainly seems at odds with the fact that she attended some of England's costliest public schools; Allen attended 13 schools in all, including Prince Charles's junior alma mater, Hill House School and Bedales School,[5] and was expelled from several of them for drinking, smoking and performing fellatio.[7]
She's just pure spoilt middle class through and through - ogore, on 11/14/2007, -0/+10It's a lot bigger in the inside than it seems.
- CravenTwain, on 11/14/2007, -0/+9What remake? This is a current TV series...
- vault, on 11/14/2007, -2/+10for a chav
- ozziek, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7Just when I thought my day couldn't get worse I hear this. What a terrible day for Doctor Who if Lilly (the Thug) Allen is the new assistant. I loved the new series if she's in it I think I'll skip buying it on DVD this time - bring back Catherine Tate or Billy Piper or preferably Sally Sparrow - she was very cute
- Murdats, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7I love steven moffat, creator of couplling (awesome series) and he made;
the empty child 2 parter
the girl in the fireplace
blink
considering blink was a lot of peoples favourites for the season, and he did that while being doctor light, thats an impressive feat. - inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7you wouldn't touch the sides
- wideawakewesley, on 11/14/2007, -4/+10She's a much better choice than bloody Catherine Tate
- unclemeat, on 11/14/2007, -0/+5No. Chavs are in to grime now. Lily Allen sounds nothing like a chav.
- Glass_Onion, on 11/14/2007, -0/+5Of all the fun Doctor Who news that must come on here, why does an unbassed rumour make the front page?
- redwolf, on 11/14/2007, -0/+5Not looking forward to the horror of Tate's return.
- TonyTheTerrible, on 11/14/2007, -3/+8i hate her, her songs are so annoying
- CheeseburgerBro, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4Sally Sparrow is the best assistant that never was.
- Murdats, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4if you think the new series of doctor who is brand new, then where the hell have you been living?
- BevansDesign, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4Having a new Doctor so soon was a bit unusual, but one of the trademarks of the show is how The Doc gets new companions all the time. Usually young females too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Companion_%28Doctor_W ...
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Now, I'm not British and I don't know exactly what defines a "chav" but I'd assume it's something like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton in the states. Particularly Paris Hilton. She's an heiress of a huge fortune but still pretty trashy.
- diggzoid, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3there is NO equivalent in the US - if you see a chav you know a chav. you could probably find some running around eastern europe (but they'd probably be football fans from the UK anyway)
- paarshad, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Yeah she was awesome. That was a pretty awesome episode for being doctor-light
- TheCatsPants, on 11/14/2007, -2/+5She's certainly trying to look and sound like one though.
- paarshad, on 11/14/2007, -1/+4Catherine Tate ruined the Xmas special for me.
- davros72, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3Except for the fact that Martha left the Doctor in the Series Three finale, and Catherine Tate is doing a number of episodes before Martha rejoins the Doctor... I'd say Catherine Tate *IS* the Doc's assistant. Whether we like it or not.
Not saying I trust any of these rumors much, but we'll see. Yeah she's cute. - aduzik, on 11/15/2007, -0/+2Bigger on the inside? I'd say I'm curious, but... no.
- LargeTrout, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2The only way Lily would be bad for Doctor Who is if her acting is crap.
- demonstro, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Exterminate!
- banmaster, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Its actually the Curse Of Doctor Who!
Pretty much EVERY actor who has been in the lead or a supporting role has been touched by it. They get typecast to such a degree that its usually very difficult for them to get more acting jobs for several years after doing 'who. Thats why we're seeing such short tenures on the show at the moment, they're petrified of being unemployed if the curse hits them. - sabach, on 11/14/2007, -2/+4I was disappointed to see Billie leave. I googled chav and I have an idea what that means. And Lilly is nice looking. But this Yank wonders can she act?
- BassHead, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2It's FTA, which also refers to Billie Piper as a chav :?
Buried as inaccurate! - Crimsoneer, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Now, Tate, she is a massive ***** chav.
- chris9902, on 11/14/2007, -2/+4that comment was made of win.
- KelliShaver, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2She's not replacing Tate for Series 4. This could well just be for one or more of the specials in 2009, so maybe only in 1-3 stories.
- ChronoMojo, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3The tastiest fish is most definitely unbass.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Well they have gypsies, they have trailers. Like in lock stock, that movie was awesome.
- breakaway, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3Don't like the video to "Smile" though, a bit mean.
- diggzoid, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2I think interest in football (soccer) would be a major character trait too....
- vault, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav
she is queen of the chavs :-) it's an act though as spudnic alluded to, her parents were/are somewhat successful - inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2This had better be a goddam rumour. I first came across Lilly Allen (after hearing the name everywhere) on some silly amateur band-talentspotting show. She came across as a gobby spoiled little cow, no elegance or anything approaching intelligence in her at all. Having Cath Tate as assistant for year 4 is bad enough, but Allen'd be the absolute pits. I'd stop watching if they went ahead with her.
What IS wrong with having proper Actresses play the roles? The UK *must* be bursting with talented females looking to break into the business...and - here's a radical idea from someone who cares more about the storylines than some gratuitous T&A - what about a male companion, for once??? Doctor Who lasted for decades without shoving ***** in your face at every turn, you know...! - norman619, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3It's a continuation of an exiting series. Look it up you dope.
- Severys, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2Good call! She was hot.
- BevansDesign, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2I still have no idea how The Doc got changed back. Was that just the power of positive thinking or what?
- TheCatsPants, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1Almost, they are like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton, but without any money and with worse taste.
- norman619, on 11/14/2007, -0/+1What's the fascination with Piper? She wasn't a stellar actress nor was she all THAT hot. She was cute tho.
