- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+43i still enjoy smallville but not as much as i did in it's early hey day. i really adored the show when lex was on the cusp of deciding between good or evil. for lack of a better way of putting it, i used to catch myself pulling for him to choose right over wrong. which was absolutely ridiculous because i fully knew the path of his comic origin. but i think that says alot for rosenbaum, that he was able to create a sympathetic character that everyone knew was destined to be evil but allowed them the hope of .. well, just maybe ..
yeah. i'm a comic nerd. - enronias, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39Dude the show is going to really suck without him. I bet that if the show goes on without him it won't last long, he adds so much to the show.
- kal-el, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Kristin Kreuk (lana lang) has said that next year is her last as well
John Glover (Lionel luthor) recently signed on to be a performer on Broadway next fall
the creator also said he feels they "definitely have two more seasons" but went on record many times saying season 7 will be the last

It's all Krypton/Fortress of Solitude/Superman/Phantom Zone now. I might be wrong, but I think that kicks ass.
- MissTress, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Michael Rosenbaum is one sexy bald bitch! The character is very well established and Michael really made it his own. The show is campy as with most comic book shows but still has a coolness factor to it. In fact now a days on the show it seems everyone is sorta whiny.
Clark : whiny whiny Lana whiny whiny
Cloe: whiny whiny Clark whiny whiny
Lana : whiny everyone is out to get me whiny
Lois : I am so much better and hotter then everyone else
Lex : I assure you I am not a mad scientist bent on world domination. I am just trying to better the world as well as tap lanas barely legal ass {insert some grand historical quote here to spin everything in his favor.} - Stunn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13After watching Battlestar Galactica, I'm slowly losing interest in Smallville. I kind of want to stop watching the show but I feel like I'm obligated to continue to view it because I've seen every episode. There are a lot of logic problems with Smallville. Most shows have logic problems that I usually just accept, but Smallville's problems are so awkward. Clark using his heat vision on Chloe to remove a tracer that updates her status on a laptop they stole? Jimmy putting up "Missing" posters for Chloe when she was gone under 24 hours? It makes my head hurt. There are many ways to convey drama, the writers don't need to be so stupid about it.
I didn't like how the show treated the Green Arrow's relationship with Lois. Talk about a waste of time building a shotty relationship for it to end quicker than I can snap my finger. The last episode really ticked me off. I'm so sick of this Lana/Clark thing. The writers finally had an opportunity to separate the two but they keep going back to same boring old "I love her but I can't have her" drama. Also, there is no chemistry between Lana and Lex. Their relationship is pretty much:
"I trust you"
"I trust you too"
Then Lex does something behind Lana's back or lies to her.
Yippe...
The MAIN problem I have with the show is that it is predictable. When characters are put in a life or death situation, I can guess the outcome. Lana, Lex, Clark, Lois, Jimmy, and Martha are obviously not going to die. I think the only person I'm worried about being killed off is Chloe, since she isn't in the comic book's history. Sadly, I was hoping this would be Smallville's last season. I'm tired of watching it. I'm going to wait to see the results of Lex and Lana's baby. If that turns out to be an eye roller, I'm going to suck it up and stop watching the show.
I am happy about the Phantom thing though. It is something different than the Kryptonite freaks we see. Too bad we don't see enough of these Phantom menaces. - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11If they're going to be planning for two more seasons, I hope they firmly establish the JLA by then. They've started, and it's been pretty cool IMO, but they need to get away from the freak-of-the-week pattern and do more multi-episode story arcs.
- eburing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Rosenbaum has been the Lex and Mack has brought a character into the Smallville universe just from her talented acting.. these two are the strongest actors on on the show and it would be a pity for either to leave.. that being said I'm sort of glad that next season will be the last.. I think it's time for one more power discovery (flight) and the advent of a popular suit at the end of next season and also no filler eps in next season would be great so they could end with a bang..
man i'm totally a smallville freak because I've seen every single episode.. but even i know when something should end.. (7th heaven, and 8 rules anyone??) - pidge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I used to like Smallville but I agree that the show should finally end. Michael Rosenbaum was a pretty good Lex (much better than Kevin Spacey) but the stories have lately been terrible. If they would have gotten rid of Lana several seasons ago, the show might be better today. Hopefully next season will be the last, then they can take a couple of years off to make a movie that is actually good....and keep Lana out of it.
- Stunn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh, haven't you heard? If you don't agree with a comment, instead of debating it you just digg it down.
- TheDude77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Kevin Spacey? Oh come on. He's a good actor but his Lex blew.
- DiggLurker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@floridiot2
To my mind, that episode making you not want to watch shows how powerful that episode was. IMO, that was the best episode of the series. I didn't agree with Clark's final decision about Lana. But it certainly was more understandable than what happens in the old Superman movie: "Oh, sorry Lois, I can't be with you cause of my secret. Now keep quiet while I go bang Lana." - Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15I've watched every episode, IMHO it's really a mediocre show that could have been so much better.
- tolbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5the show was more teen drama in the first season than any other season in my opinion.....
- Minishark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've seen every episode, and I still love the show. However, I do think it's time it comes to an end. They've spent many an episode beating around the bush, where you think something significant with get resolved, and by the end of the episode everything is back to where it started. They need to just give all the fans the episodes they want to see and call it quits before it's too late.
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So why are all the trolls digging down every single comment tonight?
- Animal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm behind Stunn on this one. Although I didn't watch the show for the first few seasons when it first came out, I decided to start watching it one summer and borrowed the DVD's from friends and got caught up and then watched season 5 and now am still watching season 6. I just keep watching to finish it up mostly and because it's Superman (somewhat). I really expected season 5 to be the last season since it started with the fortress and had his fathers demise in there, and it really should have been the last one. So far this season really feels in jump the shark territory, what I would consider to be good episodes seem few and far between and they are typically more superman/lex and less clark/lana. I haven't been able to easily put up with Lana Lang drama for a couple seasons now, it's just over and over and over with her and it's getting old and very annoying. I know they are trying to do the whole "she doesn't trust Clark even though his lies are for her own good but she seems to trust Lex even though he's lying to her for his own evil plans" and we are all supposed to be frustrated by it, and I am, but it seems very very very blatant and stupid.
Well I could rant on more about it but that would just show how much I'm stuck watching the show just for the sake of having already watched all the seasons up to this point so I'll stop there and be happy that Heroes and BSG still provide me some good Sci-Fi and Comic TV. - IMADV8, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I used to love that show. Until I realized it was 80% filler, and got sick of waiting for someone to find out about Clark's powers and NOT somehow conveniently forget at the end of the episode.
- mwmccullough, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Honestly, as a fan I'm tired of having to watch the Clark/Lana tension, I'll be glad to be rid of her. I've always been more of a Chloe guy myself, much more interesting character. As for Lex, Rosenbaum remade Lex into what he always should have been... a real BADASS. I've always hated seeing that slapstick crap Lex Luthor does in the movies. There's my two cents.
- argonauta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I do. My list is: Heroes, 24, Smallville, Studio 60, Battlestar Galactica, Jericho.
No matter how good or bad smallville may be, it's about superman. Superman! Nothing's cooler than Superman, not even Jack Bauer. And you have to admit, the way they are making Smallville way better than the latest Superman movie...that did suck - Bender4Pharoah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Lex Luthor is the only likeable character on the show! I demand a spin off series staring Michael Rosenbaum! We'll call it "What Would Lex Do?" and the WWLD bracelets will be an inspiration for all would-be supervillians everywhere.
- mecharory, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm a fan of Smallville, but I also agree that it's about time it should end. I'm not saying that because I feel the quality of the show has diminished. From the beginning, some episodes are great and some are mediocre. Overall I find the show very entertaining. I just think that the show started with a certain premise: telling the story of Clark Kent's youth in Smallville from high school to his eventual departure. Keeping that in mind, there aren't that many more stories for them to tell before they start feeling tacked on.
It's just my humble opinion, but I think they should end the series with a TV movie. In most versions of the Superman mythos, there's a gap between Smallville and Metropolis where he just explores the world. I think the beginning of that journey would make a good ending storyline. - nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ok, so Justice League rocks, the Soapy slant the show has taken sucks, Lana is whiny and annoying, Lois is the hottest ***** thing on the face of this planet, and the Luthors kick ass....
Also, Clark's mom is a MILF.
And Aquaman is so completely gay. - IamBobX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They had to put the plant by the water so Aquaman could be useful LOL
- ericdano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, Lana needs to go.
It would be nice to see them make a real movie. It think the cast of Smallville could have made the recent Superman movie way better. And, of course, no Lana. I like Lois though.....she's grown on me. - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@rickler
If you don't like it why do you continue to watch it? - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7more lana lang ACTION SHOTS
- datr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Superman doesn't stand a chance against Jack Bauer.
- seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@bevansdesign
You think that this season is the best? Oh god, this is the first season that I decided to watch another show over Smallville if something good is on. I only watch it to check in and see if the show is getting better yet, which it is, or at least the last episode was pretty good. - krets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@jimzip:
How do you know it's declining if you watched part way through season one and called it quits? I'd say that makes you completely unqualified to judge.
Personally I think this season has been excellent. The second and third season started to drag and become repetitive but they've done a good job of turning it around. - ericdano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah. I agree. Sadly, there has not been a lot of Luthor focus this season. The elder Luther is just not to be found....
- bab5470, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It’s such a shame, Michael Rosenbaum is by far the best Lex Luthor of all time. He's brought a richness to the character. He's evil but not in an over-the-top megalomaniac way as portrayed by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey. He's evil in a more devious, sinister, and dark way. There's a certain passion behind Rosenbaums portrayal - as Rosenbaum's Lex would say - "I AM the villain of the story"
Yet at the same time he manages to somehow remain pitiable. We know from Smallville how he was ostracized as a youth, his father never showed him love (in fact pitted him against his younger brother Julian), and he's never had any of the things he really wanted - primarily love. That motive is what is missing behind most Lex Luthor incarnations. That’s what makes Rosenbaum’s Luthor truly unique. He's not innately evil but rather he became that way because of all the things that he's been denied.
I only hope the current superman movie franchise dies a quick death and that someone with same insight and appreciation for Lex and the Superman mythos like Millar and Gough will take the reins. Sadly I think we're in store for Superman Returns Again and Again and Again before Hollywood finally gives up beating their cash cow... - TA_Superman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The episode where it was Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow was really really really cheesy. Especially at the end when they all walk like they are on the runray to the exploding plant behind them. I think they need to end the show with Clark in the superman costume or w/e. Plus he's already flown before he just doesn't know how to control it.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I didn't get into Smallville, but I did watch it this season for Green Arrow (far and away my favorite hero), and the Lex Luthor I saw on those episodes is an excellent iteration - cunningly smart, driven by his own goals, evil but not mad evil. It's a very good show of the character.
I'd kill for the Justice team to get a show, thought - I liked Bart, Arthur, Vic and Ollie working together. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@mightymouse: "more lana lang ACTION SHOTS"
It's "Lana/Chloe hot lesbian action shots", loserboy nerd. - eburing, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5are you kidding me?.. gene hackman was the WORST Lex.. or maybe the guy from Lois and Clark.. (both happened to not shave their heads either) Micheal and his John Glover really have made the Luthors awesome
- brenthals, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did you see the one where Lana was in trouble, but just as Clark got there she was knocked unconscious and didn't see him use his powers to save her? That was a good one, too bad that format was almost every single time.
- tcquad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Story arcs make for better shows but worse ratings. With arcs, if you don't start watching right away or miss a couple of shows, the story is out of reach. As a result, you can only lose viewers (people who lose interest) and not gain them (people who tune in won't get it, so they won't put in the effort to download, etc.). That's why freak-of-the-week style is so popular. It's the fantasty/action/suspense equivalent of a sitcom. Sitfan or sitact or sitsus, whichever you prefer.
The best balance most shows can make without starting off with a huge dedicated audience (Lost, though even that's following the pattern) is being freak-of-the-week with a big bad. At least then they can have an arc but have enough accessibility to pull in new viewers. - dliebke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As a wise woman once said, 'Michael Rosenbaum owns Smallville'.
The show can't go on without him. - 500freestyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Smallville is way past its prime. I feel like it just runs on sex appeal. If Krisin Kruek leaves its over.
- Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Smallville = Buffy the Vampire Slayer, just set in the Superman world / timeline.
- 2shae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Smallville is a great show and it's very much liked by people (how else could it even do 7 seasons)

- Jimzip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ krets
Because the 1st, and 2nd seasons were the ones I watched. Two seasons of anything makes me qualified enough, if nothing interesting happens in those two seasons except minor character arcs and poorly thought out cookie-cutter episode storylines, then it doesn't deserve my time. That's all.

- anymir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All of the actors signed a five season deal when the show started, and later two more seasons were added to that deal. There are rumors that some of the actors are signed for more than seven, but I really think the show should end by then. It's time, really.
Michael Rosenbaum is an amazing actor, and I can't wait to see him in more things. He also directed last week's episode, "Freak," which I thought was great. -
