- naked_violence, on 09/04/2008, -1/+28I miss the NBC Letterman. I wish him well when he retires.

- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+18"Unless I'm misunderstanding something, I don't know why, after the job Jay has done for them, why they would relinquish that," Letterman said, adding, "I have to believe he was not happy about it."
I always thought they hated each other, considering Leno said they haven't talked too each other in years. Nice Guy, Letterman. NBC really screwed him out of the Tonight Show. Glad to see he doesn't harbor any anger towards Leno. - inactive, on 09/04/2008, -1/+19Jimmy Fallon > Soulja Boy
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -34/+52Conan O'Brien > Jimmy Kimmel > David Letterman > Jay Leno
- chukd, on 09/04/2008, -3/+18He can retire anytime he wants as long as Craig Ferguson replaces him. The masses may like Leno but Dave is better.
- megaton, on 09/04/2008, -7/+21I love Colbert and Stewart, but no way they're better than Conan.
- IndigoMoss, on 09/04/2008, -2/+16I'm just some random guy, and I approve of this message.

- dafragsta, on 09/04/2008, -0/+10Have you seen this? Have you heard this?

- Jack8274, on 09/04/2008, -0/+8But who made Huckabee!!!!!!!!!!!
- VyPR, on 09/04/2008, -3/+11Grandpa?! What the hell are you doing on the internet?
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -0/+8Wow, what a terrific audience.
- dave8910, on 09/04/2008, -0/+8One of Conan's main influences is David Letterman.
- chukd, on 09/04/2008, -0/+8Leno is too busy making fun of everyone else. Letterman makes fun of himself along with his other jokes (part of what makes Conan funny). Leno has unoriginal skits (jay walking, newspaper clippings, etc... ). Letterman may not be the most popular but his show is better.
- MOJIRA, on 09/04/2008, -0/+7I hope Conan is ready for the 11:30 time slot.
His jokes and comedic style are great, but he has to appeal to a wider audience at an earlier time; his jokes have to be more mature. I think he can pull it off, but I wouldn't be surprised if old people aren't crazy about him and his ratings suffer as a result.
As for Leno; he should be heading the American Top Gear instead of whoever the ***** it is they've got lined up (actually it should be Clarkson, May, and Hammond, but in their stead...) - dn11, on 09/04/2008, -0/+7He did great when he was on without writers at all - I thought it was some of the funniest stuff he's done in a long time. I think he can survive a slight change in tone. Personally I get tired of Triumph and the masturbating bear anyway... I just hope Pierre Bernard is going with him
- sejanus2x, on 09/04/2008, -1/+8Dugg for Letterman, always a class act.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -0/+7Thank you sir! It means alot. =]
- schmitey, on 09/04/2008, -0/+6I've always had respect for Letterman as being a classy guy, but this article just clenched it with the comments at the end! I also recall how shaken and sorry he was when his Indy racing team lost their driver a while back.
And honestly I'm happy for Jay. Its no fun working for a company that doesn't appreciate you. Besides, he's loaded and has a KICK ASS garage full of toys to play with! - KingBroseph, on 09/04/2008, -3/+9I'm actually 18, but yeah, i am your grandpa too. weird...
- ddb320, on 09/04/2008, -2/+8Enough with the stupid "This person is funnier than that person" stuff. In regards to Dave's interview, it was very classy and nice.
- Checkerd, on 09/04/2008, -1/+7Nah, I'm pretty sure he's right handed.
- MOJIRA, on 09/04/2008, -1/+6You have to forgive eventually.
Plus, it's not really Jay's fault; it's the producers and execs that screwed Dave out of a show--Jay just did what anyone would and took the job offer of a lifetime. - comptonstomp, on 09/04/2008, -8/+13stewart/colbert are the best
- JacksonYaya, on 09/04/2008, -0/+5Letterman beat 'em all when he was in his prime.
- solid12345, on 09/04/2008, -0/+5Dugg for Warren Zevon, RIP
- IndigoMoss, on 09/04/2008, -0/+4I'm not sure if that was aimed at me GhostyBoy, or if it was aimed at SouljaBoySTFU. But yeah, that's my real name, just thought I'd get that fact out there.
- tjallen, on 09/04/2008, -0/+4I love Conan, and think he personally represents the best of the best of late night. May he only be blessed by a prime time spot and even better guests. If he gives up his stupid Irish jigs and Conan-ism, I'll stop watching. I like Conan, for Conan. He's a complete ass who knows how to make fun of himself, and make an even better time of his guests. The "no-one is watching" motif is hysterical, because we are watching. Do not change, sir. If I ever become famous, my public interviews will go Conan, Stewart, Colbert, err the rest of you are not funny I'm not going on your shows.
- candyman420, on 09/04/2008, -0/+4who will win this battle of opinions
- Escamotage, on 09/04/2008, -1/+5The truth is Letterman is the last old-school Talk show host. His style is that of Johnny Carson, Ed Sullivan, etc. There's a certain charisma that he brings when he's on the air that no other talk show now has. It's a lost art. It has to do with his mannerism, his speech. There's a distinguished quality about Letterman wrapped in self-deprecating off-beat comedy.
- spookycheddar, on 09/04/2008, -0/+4buried for joshin
- exec0extreme, on 09/04/2008, -1/+5I can't wait for Conan to get Jay's spot. Conan is hilarious but the show is so damn late
- chukd, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3Anyone that watches craig would of gotten this.
- KingGorilla, on 09/04/2008, -3/+6everyone else>Jimmy Fallon & carson daily
- inigomntoya, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3Agreed - nothing better than the time he donned pocketed overalls filled with Rice Krispies and bathed in a giant bowl of milk...
- alwilson, on 09/04/2008, -3/+6I grew up watching Dave. His shows used to be ground breaking comedy, but the past few years it's old and tired. Even Dave makes fun of the monotony of his show in his monolog or banter with guests. Dave should have gotten out when he was on top, but now it's too late.
- inactive, on 09/04/2008, -3/+6That may be one of the truest things I've ever read.
- jfg84, on 09/04/2008, -1/+4Craig Ferguson has great monologues. No way that CBS chooses him to replace Letterman though.
- whahaa, on 09/04/2008, -4/+7Colbert > Conan > Stewart > Letterman > Kimmel > Ferguson > Leno
- GhostyBoy, on 09/04/2008, -0/+3Dugg you for your screenname....you probably get that a lot.
- MOJIRA, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2You're right, he was great during the strike.
I he'll need to do a lot more "field" pieces; those are great and fit with a more mainstream show/audience. - robdiggity, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2Finally someone with some sense. You sir, are 100% correct. Dave's combination of class, style and wit defined a sardonic generation. It is indeed an art that has gone missing in an increasingly A.D.D. society, ever more relying on UFC, reality television, and the goddamn Hills for "entertainment." But I suppose individuals of every generation must respond to the voice that best speaks to them.
To me Carson was the best, Dave is the best, and I think we will really understand what it means to lose something when he is gone. - chukd, on 09/04/2008, -0/+2Its a shame too. Ferguson is one of the funniest guys on television. He doesn't bow down to the popular guests and chooses the people he wants to interview. This is what makes his show so great.
