- anonymousmedic, on 11/07/2009, -5/+21Yes, but will they have an episode that addresses a deadly serious, real issue: Glenn Beck raped and murdered an 7 yearold girl in 1990, and got away with it.
- Chairboy, on 11/07/2009, -2/+9RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES!
- brainboy7777, on 11/07/2009, -3/+7Law and Order has done this for the past 8 years; their only saving grace is that they always put a unique twist on the issue. It's still my favorite syndicated show.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -0/+4I think they could actually do a pretty good episode about that.
- Nouman6, on 11/07/2009, -0/+3as repetitive as the show is, I still enjoy it always making my guess wrong >:|
- palehorse864, on 11/07/2009, -1/+4It was funny when they ripped one plotline from the headlines and it was an urban legend. It seems like an interesting idea though. Writers get their ideas from all sorts of places, including new stories. Most shows, books, etc. just don't advertise it as much.
- AndrewDB, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2Nah, I know they jumped it years ago.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2THIS is the point where you think Law and Order jumped the shark? Oh lawd.
- ricodued, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2Which episode was the urban legend?
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/07/2009, -0/+2currently they are in season 20, which was signed on by the network in May. The first episode aired the 25th of September, with a new episode each week. I cannot find any information on Wikipedia or IMDB about their shooting schedule, but I am guessing that they are not able to do shoot and edit a show a week, so most of them had to have been made during the summer (to make sure there was no huge issues during shooting). Not sure how many episodes they can get done in a month's span, but I am just guessing that most of the episodes were either already written, or were written during the summer, and filming was done as bulk as possible late summer.
and it is quite possible for a series that does not have a continuous narrative from episode to episode to have episodes that were recorded up to a year or more previous that just didn't make the "cut", but could possibly be added to a future season if it fit better. - AiR1890, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1Law and Order: SVU is way better. Criminal Intent is the worst, I hate seeing who did the crime, the whole point of the law and order shows is to wonder who did it, not know who ***** did it at the beginning.
- inactive, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1Did you see the 20th season premiere?.Such a tired theme that might have been relevant 2-3 years ago....
- palehorse864, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1I couldn't remember to be honest, so I looked it up.
Here we go.

This one is a doozy of an urban legend too. A ton of shows use this urban legend as a joke, but none I know of have taken it seriously except for Law and Order. - lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2It's because Mariska is a fox.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -1/+2Do you think the episodes are really shot over a year ago? If so, you're an idiot. Movies have faster turnover than that.
- twoblueday, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1I've been watching Law und Order for a long time, and it just seems to be getting, well, tired.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1MacHarborGuy, V started shooting in August. It contains more special effects and still only takes less than 2 months to knock out a completed episode.
Also, they're wearing coats and the trees have no leaves. Pretty sure neither of those things happen in the winter. - AiR1890, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1I like SVU better to, why, the actors are better, they seem like people you could see as real detectives.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1crosaks, that's because it was already used for an episode of SVU 2-3 years ago. And again last season, IIRC.
- ssnake937, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1Someone called this on a comment when the scandal first occured.
- Pixelante, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1Thunk-thunk.
- Palestrina, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1But the Letterman character will make a funny crack at Fox News at the end, and all will be forgiven.
- cheekdog, on 11/07/2009, -0/+1ok i think i'm old and tired now because for some reason when i saw "letterman" i wasn't thinking "david" i was thinking "faster than a rolling O.... stronger than a silent E... able to leap capital T in a single bound... it's a word... it's a plane... it's... it's LETTERMAN!!"
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/07/2009, -2/+2question: when are all of the seasons worth of episodes recorded? if the "upcoming" episode was recorded last year, how would they have known? Unless, of course, they got all of the cast members together SPECIFICALLY to do this episode, out of the normal "bulk record" schedule, and if that is the case...
glad I stopped watching Law & Order - ricodued, on 11/07/2009, -1/+1What are you talking about? Law and Order, of all variants, frequently has plots based around real-world events. They've done this for years.
- AndrewDB, on 11/07/2009, -5/+3Ramp----Shark--------Law and Order.
- DarkoKun, on 11/07/2009, -8/+6Not a law and order fan. I like law and order: SVU better.
- KokomoNYC, on 11/07/2009, -6/+2*Waits eagerly for Det. John Mayer and Det. Fat Black Guy to arrest David Letterman followed by inspiring speech from TV lawyer on Paternalism in the Workplace*
/s - inactive, on 11/07/2009, -4/+0Is it the sex theme?.
