- inactive, on 05/16/2009, -15/+89Jimmy Fallon sucks.
- understudy, on 05/17/2009, -1/+69Leno has the best guests.
Letterman has the best interviewing style.
Conan has the best comedy bits.
Ferguson has the most fun.
In his time, Johnny Carson seemed to have it all.

PS: Let's give Fallon a few more months and see if he grows into it. - swordedge, on 05/16/2009, -1/+39dug for number 3, Leno and Letterman in 1979, Leno had BIG hair.
- Phernoree, on 05/17/2009, -2/+25Carson Daly still has a show?
- theantix, on 05/17/2009, -9/+27When Conan first started, I thought he seemed overly awkward and unfunny. However, he grew out of the awkwardness and his weird sense of humour came through in the end.
Fallon is not just unfunny, he is plain unlikeable. I want to smack him in the face every time I hear his stupid fratboy laugh and utterly uneducated banter. Unlike awkwardness, I don't people can really grow out of being unlikeable. Whoever hired him should be fired. - MFoody, on 05/17/2009, -1/+17The dirty little secret is that Conan sucked at first too. He got really good in time. I don't expect Fallon to necessarily get better but I wouldn't rule it out.
- mg128, on 05/17/2009, -1/+15bill murray needs a talk show.
- socivitus, on 05/16/2009, -1/+14Thanks! Please continue to bury stories and point it out in the comments so I can bury you.
- Meximan86, on 05/17/2009, -1/+12you hit it right on the nose man, I love Conan's comedy bits. Who doesn't Love "Celebrity Secrets" and "In The Year 2000"?!
- Wreckage, on 05/17/2009, -2/+10Seeing Jimmy Fallon makes me miss..... Chevy Chase, Arsenio Hall, A talking parrot, a migraine headache, etc.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+8Ferguson is pretty underrated as far as hosts go. He's actually quite good but I don't think anyone watches his show.
- swordedge, on 05/16/2009, -1/+8and put what in that time slot?
- birch25, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6Sadly, Fallon's comedy bits are the worst part of his show
- ryanonfire, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7in the year two thoooooooooussand
- Henzee, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7Where the ***** is your capital "B"?
You're a *****. - birch25, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6Buried for suggesting Corrola and saying "should of"
- PeppermintPig, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5If they didn't water down Conan's show, they might actually get more people to watch. His earlier stuff was better.
The networks have no clue.
Oh, and Groucho Marx is awesome!!! - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5Not a little dirty secret; it's very widely known. The network even played off the fact that he used to get really nervous in the intro to his show.
Conan found his groove and I like it. Fallon might too; but I might not be willing to watch by then; maybe it'll be the 8 year olds now who group up and love Fallon and say he's a million times better than Conan like we did with Conan vs Leno. - rsh28630, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5Surprisingly overlooked and truly missed... Jack Parr, Dick Cavett and Tom Snyder.
Parr was actually the first to show the Beatles. He had a film clip of them playing live that pre-dated the foursome's Sullivan appearance.
Cavett hilariously stunned a pompous Norman Mailer when he told him to "fold it five ways and stick it where the moon don't shine".
Snyder's words "watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air" display an LSD like-image conveying Snyder's insight of his role. - ryanhayn, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4Yes, and he's anorexic too.
- Spacejack, on 05/17/2009, -1/+5Letterman in his prime (the Chris Elliot/Merril Markoe era) blew 'em all out of the water with the comedy bits... except maybe Carson in HIS prime. Maybe.
- svensksvamp, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4You pretty much nailed it.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -2/+5Probably saw the recorded versions that you see on sale in late night infomercials. Maybe he saw the final episodes a couple of years ago and can now "miss" Johnny Carson(RIP). Think of different situations and variables before drawing conclusions. Learn to think because you're doing it wrong.
- WallyAnti, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4I cannot think of one memorable fact about Fallon. The only things that come to mind are his uncontrollable unintentional chuckling on SNL and his very unexpected take over of Conan's old show. The man is like a walking talking, so-so acting, laugh track... but I guess he has some charm.
- Conguent, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3It's almost painful to watch him try. On the last one I watched, he told a joke that got nothing. Not a sound. And that was the most amusing part of the show, him failing.
- Kalior, on 05/17/2009, -6/+9give him time, he's got big shoes to fill
(dugg down in 3...2...1.....) - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3Why does this list start with Johnny Carson? Is hte author 20 years old?
To include Kimmel and Ferguson and ignore Steve Allen and Jack Paar is absurd. - orthodoxDrew, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3tom snyder is awesome.
- zdiggler, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Jimmy Fallon suck in SNL, his movie career is a flop.
- zacbro, on 05/17/2009, -5/+7I'm guessing you wanted to put "The Greatest of All Time" in quotes instead of "Johnny Carson"
Go back to Guam and learn some english you freaking commie. - Stea1th, on 05/18/2009, -0/+2Kimmel as least has some good bits here and there..
has fallon had any bits yet? Kimmel killed with matt damon and i'm ***** ben afleck thing - Noodleson, on 05/19/2009, -0/+2craig ***** kilborn.
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2"Magic Johnson!!!" - Homer Simpson
- PDAIsAOk, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2All the time in the world isn't going to make Fallon funny, or a good host of a late night show
- Spacejack, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Snyder indeed. Although I'm too young to remember the Tomorrow Show his revived CBS show in the 90s was very enjoyable. It's a different game though. Would also mention Bob Costas for reviving the format for network in the late 80s, I always thought it was a shame that they turned Later into a generic after that.
- sevenalive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2It's because of his accent
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2How? Just turn on Fox News, he saying something unfunny and uneducated on there all the time it seems.
- punkcat, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Fallon has been around already. he isn't new to TV.
- birch25, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3He was good on SNL (especially Weekend Update). I still expect him to find his groove but he's not there yet.
At least he's not laughing at his own jokes anymore :) - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3You forgot Jimmy Kimmel; he's pretty good too; but I don't know how he factors into your equation.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2Letterman had Dorothy Hammil hair.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2I miss Morton Downey Jr. That was some talk show action.
- Traiklin, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2give him time, he will start laughing at them.
The reason he was good on SNL is cause you got him in small doses, being on an hour long fallon-a-thon makes you realize how he tries to hard to make you laugh. - stopbrorape, on 05/17/2009, -1/+3I'm seventeen but I've seen old clips of him and agree that he's the best late night talk show host. Although I can't reminisce over him because I haven't ever seen a live show with him.
- rdw1809, on 05/17/2009, -4/+5How do you remember Carson? If your 23 then he left the show when you were about seven. I'm a year younger than you and I sure as hell don't remember Carson being the host of the tonight show.
- koanage, on 05/17/2009, -0/+1Leno's appearance sure made a crazy transformation from 1979 to 1992.
- petebot, on 05/18/2009, -0/+1Carson Daly is horrible. He is a stain of a man. He makes Jimmy Fallon look like Groucho Marx.
- cran, on 05/17/2009, -2/+3Johnny Carson FTW!
- HCviolence, on 05/17/2009, -1/+2Jimmy Fallon would be alright if he didn't stop to giggle at his own jokes.
