I am done. Done caring about your new show line-ups. Done buying into the hype of yet another good show canceled before it has the chance to gain momentum. From this point forward, you have to PROVE it to ME. Show me that you've found a concept you believe in by guaranteeing two or three seasons of the vision. If you don't do this up front, I will wait. I will note the shows that look promising and wait two or three seasons, then grab the episodes on iTunes or somewhere else (I'm already doing this to NBC with Heroes). The problem is, there is a negative feedback loop here... you won't get to two or three seasons of ANYTHING if people like me don't watch the first one! Grow a pair and prove to me that it's worth my time to watch your "gambles". If not, I'm already 3 years behind on my netflix queue (just saw The Aviator - so I obviously have a few movies to catch up on that I can TRUST with my time). See you in a few years. Maybe. - sjbdallas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5 So frustrating. It's clear that the big 4 networks are now pandering to the lowest common denominator. The Idiocracy is growing.
- xike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4These never work, but it's something: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?09272006 (petition)
- TonyStark, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I really enjoyed this show - it is the only show on CBS that I watched. Networks are pushing people away from new shows - it is not worth investing your time until the second season. Save Jericho!!!
- joflow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3We need to do everything we can to get the word out that there is an online effort to save this show. Digg the other story as well..if you haven't already: http://www.digg.com/television/Save_Jericho_campaign
- d3bruts1d, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Another example idiots in management cutting a good show.
- staed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I really hope Digg can help keep this show from being cancelled.
Hawkins for president! - Footbullet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2That's how I feel too! I'm tired of getting into shows just to have them pulled out from under me. (Different network, but I got into Drive and they yanked it after just a handful of episodes). I liked Andy Barker PI too. That show was funny. Why not give it a chance to find its rhythm?
I have made the same decision you did...see if they get renewed, then I'll catch up on them later by renting them or downloading them. - NoOneButMe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yeah, cause it worked real well for Firefly :(
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I already did that a few hours ago... and these things do work. We could get Jericho saved to be a midseason replacement for one of those crappy new shows that will undoubtedly fail.
- kystorms, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2We have shown in the online petition exactly how many viewers are fans of Jericho, CBS is arrogant to think we can be shut down with no fight, please keep digging this story, and help save a great show!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Jericho wasn't my favorite show, but it was a pretty cool show. I loved the concept, some of the storylines were too feminized IMO, but overall it was a good show. Name ten series that are better. I'll try. Sopranos, 24, Lost, Prison Break, Office, I'll throw House in there even though I don't watch it. That's really it. TV just got crappier, thanks to CBS.
- Ahku, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1CBS cares mainly about the money they get from advertisers. I think that the “Send Nuts to CBS” campaign is genius. If we could get a major advertiser like Planters to support us, we would have a lot more clout. Perhaps if somehow we could get them to sponsor a program in which they would send a small bag (like you get on a plane) for simply logging into their site and answering a small questionnaire. Another thing is if enough people write them, maybe they could have a "Save Jericho" commemorative jar of peanuts made. The benefits to Planters would be a significant amount of goodwill among Jericho fans creating some brand loyalty for them. It is just crazy enough to work. Pass this along on your blogs, Digg comments, etc. Keep it strong and save Jericho!
You can send requests to them here:
http://www.planters.com/contactus/contact.aspx?m=/contactus/cu_form2&age=2&coppa=False&prod=True&sub=229
I would suggest saying:
"Dear Planters,
We have recently started a campaign in order to save the television show Jericho. In the final episode, there was a story about an American officer responding simply with the word "Nuts" when asked to surrender. With this in mind, we have begun sending bags of various nuts to CBS executives as a unique way of showing support. We would appreciate it if you could any way help support our cause. Ideas would be a segment of your website dedicated to it where either by answering a questionnaire or small fee would guarantee us that you send a small single serving bag in our name. Another idea may be a Save Jericho commemorative jar that has a peel off label we could send mail ourselves. If you do the latter, I would ensure you that many of us would purchase this jar.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
A Loyal Consumer" - DetStones, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Its not the fans fault or the producers fault that CBS decided to split Jericho up into two halves, and also to put Jericho head to head againt American Idol. It would be nice if CBS actually gave Jericho a fighting chance.
- lornefs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It really is a shame, last year there were shows like Surface, Threshold, Vanished etc. that had cliffhanger endings or at least dangling plot lines that they just canceled.
What about Drive, 4 episodes.
What was the point of even starting watching them.
From now on I will wait until at least a full season is made and then download it until the studios can show me I'm not wasting my time.
I think studios need to make a commitment to the story line and if they are going to cancel a show they should at least be responsible for tying it up for us.
FOX sucks, HBO and Showtime keep making amazing award winning shows like Huff, Dead Like Me and Deadwood and then just callously stop making them.
It's a shame that this has to left up to the suits who only see the bottom line and not the entertainment value. - Dallas0507, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1CBS really blew it, there are not a lot of good TV Shows out there anymore. And you (CBS) had the nerve to cancel Jericho and put in it's place Kid Nation. SHAME ON YOU.
