- TidusX, on 02/14/2009, -17/+346Dear Fox,
How about you spend some of that money and bring back Firefly. You already have a big fanbase with guaranteed millions in viewers. But I forgot that you like to ram good series into the ground through your stupidity, so never mind.
Sincerely,
Digg User - pingpants, on 02/14/2009, -3/+160Friday night slot didn't bode well
- inactive, on 02/14/2009, -13/+163Eliza Dusku is Hot.

The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne. - dataloss, on 02/14/2009, -10/+142Its a Whedon show...it takes a few episodes to wind up. Jesus, you folks are critical. Oh wait, this is Digg.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/14/2009, -8/+96Parts of it were okay, but there were some real clunkers in that script. That whole thing where the client was going on about "putting memories into your head" and asking about her past. Gee, it's as if some writer wanted to make sure the audience didn't forget the premise of the show that we'd just seen a few minutes ago.
I mean, it's nice that the mentally handicapped are getting jobs nowadays, but scriptwriting isn't their forte... - missjb, on 02/14/2009, -20/+94I was so excited to see it and the show wasn't good. Eliza Dushku can't act her way out of a shoebox.
- N1tro, on 02/14/2009, -1/+74but how is it doing on the torrent charts?
- tbredofsin, on 02/14/2009, -9/+80Buried as inaccurate. If it was a Wednesday night premiere, it would be a flop. On Friday, though? No way. Second place for the hour, decent ratings, a big increase over what Sarah Connor Chronicles got.

http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/02/dollhouse-a ... - mikebuechele, on 02/14/2009, -5/+68Amen. Firefly was an amazing series that was cut way too soon.
- internetisscary, on 02/14/2009, -16/+75It was inevitable the Whedon would have a flop. He is only a man after all. Not a vampire.
- richirwin, on 02/14/2009, -2/+45I'll tell you what didn't flop - my penis.
That Eliza Dushku was a hot ***** in that short white dress at the beginning of that show. - cam0man, on 02/14/2009, -0/+43I'm still secretly in love with her.
- Fabbyfubz, on 02/14/2009, -8/+50Also, Arrested Development
- rheaume, on 02/14/2009, -3/+37Thanks for ***** up Terminator too, great show, ***** timeslot. Who the ***** is really home on Friday nights?
- nonymous666, on 02/14/2009, -2/+35How could they expect 9M *minimum* on a Friday night? They're nuts.
- jpop, on 02/14/2009, -1/+34Because they're Fox and have incompetent execs? They're almost like the weatherman. Even if they're wrong 80% of the time, they still keep their jobs...
- InfernoX, on 02/14/2009, -0/+32I am. :(
- all_about_the_D, on 02/14/2009, -0/+31I'm surprised that Joss would even do business with Fox after what happened with Firefly. Then again, I had no idea the pilot had even aired, so woops.
- AllanX, on 02/14/2009, -2/+33Spoiler: Fox execs will cancel mid-season leaving several shows unaired. Two years later "Dollhouse" will top Blu-Ray and download sales after garnering a rabid fanbase. Fox execs will shrug. Possible "Dollhouse" movie by Warner or Universal.
- AmyVernon, on 02/14/2009, -2/+32They raised expectations to the moon, then smashed them, then put it on the weakest night ratings-wise. What'd they expect?
- robdiggity, on 02/14/2009, -0/+30Yes. I liked looking at her and Summer during the commercial breaks. They were saying stuff, but I can't really recall what it was.
I like them. - doublefelix, on 02/14/2009, -5/+34Interesting concept but it looked like a poor mans 'Alias'. That said, at least I didn't find it offensively stupid like Howie Do It, which will probably end up a huge hit. Network television programming is total crap. Serves me right for staying home on a Friday night.
- IronTek, on 02/14/2009, -3/+31...or a dollhouse.
- the13thzen, on 02/14/2009, -1/+28The ratings were a flop, the show was good.
- inactive, on 02/14/2009, -8/+35a little note for everybody who thinks the ship will turn around. fox dumped a ton of ad revenue into promoting this show. They were hoping for 9 million min. and got less than half of that. these ratings are nothing short of a disaster. it's a flop.
- Skywise, on 02/14/2009, -0/+26Geeks who watch sci-fi :)
- mogebier, on 02/14/2009, -3/+29Yeah, WTF did they move Terminator to Friday nights and WTF did they start a new Sci-Fi show on a Friday night too?
They were begging them to fail. - FishyJoe, on 02/14/2009, -4/+30Wasn't Battlestar Galactica in the same time spot? I don't know anyone who would have stopped watching BG to watch this show.
- inhaler, on 02/14/2009, -4/+29All I got from this is,
"Whedon failed but isn't responsible for any of it! It's not like it had his name, or any of his preferred actor / friends in it.."
I respect the guy for Firefly and Dr.Horrible's, but hold him accountable for his mistakes, otherwise we'll get another M. Night. - 9bpm9, on 02/14/2009, -6/+31I have Terminator and BSG to watch on Friday, I don't have time for this *****.
- IronTek, on 02/14/2009, -1/+26I dunno...I never saw Buffy or Angel, but I was hooked on Firefly from the pilot (the real pilot...I never caught it when it aired). That show was wound tight straight from the get-go.
- Synn, on 02/14/2009, -1/+25You should probably actually send that to Fox instead of posting it on Digg, because...you know...this isn't Fox.
- kukurio, on 02/14/2009, -0/+22I hate to break it to the two of you, but Dollhouse falls right in between Terminator and BSG. Unless you prefer to watch Ghost Whisperer...
- jpop, on 02/14/2009, -0/+22Because it's Fox? I swear, it's almost like they're working hard to make TV shows to fail.
- BananaGrabber, on 02/14/2009, -0/+21I watched in on hulu. I hope Fox takes into account the online numbers.
- FrostyFire, on 02/14/2009, -2/+23It's 2009, get a DVR/PVR/whatever you want to call it.
- netant, on 02/15/2009, -0/+20But for some inexplicable reason, she can carry her acting in a flimsy wet t-shirt...
- theodenking, on 02/14/2009, -1/+20It's not like this is the first time Fox has screwed him over. I think I remember him saying he'd never work with them again after Firefly, he should have taken his own advice. "Fool me once" and all that.
- kss42, on 02/14/2009, -0/+19Not so good at secrets, are you?
- TheCash, on 02/14/2009, -2/+21This wasn't his show. The entire episode reeked of Fox, from the stupid and pointless motorcycle race to the over-written over-explained "heist of the week."
If you want to criticize his work, get your hands on the original pilot. - blueplanet, on 02/14/2009, -3/+22If I had known it was on last night I would've watched it, didn't know...
- Cattywampus, on 02/14/2009, -1/+20They said that they think you are a hot dude and they want you to stay home every Friday night to watch them.
- elfprince13, on 02/14/2009, -0/+19no, he didn't, there were all sorts of loose ends with Shepard's back story and the guys with "hands of blue"
- indieguitar, on 02/14/2009, -1/+19Dushku*
- jaxontyler, on 02/14/2009, -1/+19I don't think it flopped. Everyone I know either DVR'ed it or downloaded it from a torrent. Sci fi lovers have to party too.
- Igrift, on 02/14/2009, -1/+18Fox has a history for ***** up good shows, Futurama, Firefly, Arrested Development, Family guy (they cancelled it while it was in its prime back in 02, now it sucks, but that's beyond the point).
Considering based on some of the replies here, they really didn't do a good job marketing this one too, I has no idea it was on either. I'll start tuning in and give it a chance for sure Joss is an extremely clever writer. Keep in mind guys, most shows don't come out of their shell in the first few episodes. - inactive, on 02/14/2009, -4/+21All the Firefly crew might be cursed.
Ever since the station canceled such an amazing series, I think everyone related to it will be unsuccessful until they start working on it again. Whoever ordered canceling Firefly should die in pain. A genius idea for a genius story that could have changed the face of science fiction as we know it, died that day. - DiggerMonkey, on 02/14/2009, -2/+19Incorrect, the show was not a flop. It did fairly well in it's terrible Friday night timeslot. Do you really expect a show with a premise like this to be entirely exciting in its first episode? Give it a few more episodes and then make your judgement.
- senae, on 02/14/2009, -1/+18For movies, yes, but TV is essentially free. I didn't even realize dollhouse was on last night. I only rarely watch TV, and if it weren't for this story, I wouldn't actually know to go on eztv and download it.
