It was a gesture she performed at the end of "The Carol Burnett Show", and the lyrics Groban sings are part of the closing theme of the show as well.

I agree with them, me and my humble not classically trained ears n' pipes, He comes off in his albums as very very by the book singer, almost to the point of being flat. He's a good singer but he seem to sing in style with whatever bland piano, template pseudo opera, pop music he writes or they right for him.
