- RagingReid, on 11/10/2009, -3/+85NBC gets what they deserve for thinking this idea would work.
- 0zzy, on 11/11/2009, -4/+83Have Jay make a new show. Like, an American version of Top Gear. He loves cars, he could do it.
- Kickinuarou, on 11/11/2009, -4/+72The thing I despise the most is that Conan's ratings are lower than Letterman's. Conan is by far the funniest late night talk show host, and yet he gets lower ratings than Letterman, wtf America?
- Jakeman21co, on 11/10/2009, -2/+65The show really isn't any good. What did they expect?
- AmnesiacJack, on 11/11/2009, -6/+54I still think it was a dick move to pull on Conan (really put the man he is replacing RIGHT before him?) and laugh at NBC for it.
- AntonMoss, on 11/11/2009, -3/+32Norm Macdonald. To quote Cracked:
"You know who’d make a great talk show host? Norm MacDonald. If someone gave Norm an hour-long talk show every night, I guarantee you he’d make straight-up magic.
No one is more aware of cliches than Norm MacDonald, and no one is better at flipping and deconstructing them. He’d mess with all the stale conventions that modern late night talk show hosts for some reason feel forced to use, he’d have the best guests, because everyone in comedy loves him, and I bet he could put on some decent skits, too. He wouldn’t let a bunch of celebrities pointlessly and heartlessly plug whatever project they were working on, he just wouldn’t allow it, because he can’t even give a *****. So many late night hosts try to ape a late night host of the past, like they’re afraid of doing something new. But Norm MacDonald, man, he would tear ***** up. Everyone just think about it, right now, think about what a Norm MacDonald-hosted talk show would be like.
Yeah." - willdelaney, on 11/11/2009, -1/+29Firefly

- rwiggum, on 11/11/2009, -1/+22Yeah, instead they just killed off five slots for scripted shows for more... Jay Leno.
- MarshalBanana, on 11/11/2009, -5/+19Well, stop sucking then.
I dunno, seems pretty simple. - hushpuppy20, on 11/11/2009, -2/+14I don't understand this either. Presumably, all the old (and I do mean literally old) Leno viewers that loved him turned their back on the show and jumped to Letterman, who always lost because he was TOO EDGY (?) compared to Jay.
- gnomeh, on 11/11/2009, -0/+11Never ever really watched Jay Leno's tonight show and def don't watch the crap they are producing now. THIS sounds like an awesome idea tho. I would be interested to watch this man talk about cars. I think he once had an episode or a segment on a TLC/Discovery show before and it was entertaining.
- p13t3rm, on 11/11/2009, -2/+13Just pull the plug already.
- AmnesiacJack, on 11/11/2009, -2/+12I would assume they don't count Hulu viewings? That's when / where I have to watch it.
Conan's viewers seem to be the type that would TiVo / Hulu it (but I like to stereotype). - Hecubus452, on 11/11/2009, -1/+11He worked better at 12:30, he was the oddball, alternative, hip.
At 11:30, he's mainstream and has to appeal to middle america, uncool. - Dorkside, on 11/11/2009, -3/+13Nothing against Leno, but I was hoping his show would fail in prime time for the sake of scripted network television.
- JediCorran, on 11/11/2009, -12/+20jay has talent, the time slot just doesn't work for him, nor does the new format.
- SpazAttack5000, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7Oddly enough he is up against Nathan Filion's current show.
- Rollinwinds, on 11/11/2009, -1/+8I've only seen the first episode and I agree with this guy.
- thezoner, on 11/11/2009, -3/+9I watched about 10 minutes of it the other night and the bit they were doing was just brutal.
- shrikedoa, on 11/11/2009, -2/+8How can this be? My grandparents think he's HILARIOUS.
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -1/+7Well I think that's just about the best response to a comment on Digg that shall ever be. Here here, willdelaney!.
- hushpuppy20, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6Isn't that show going to TNT? Probably better for it in the long run.
- mrgames2, on 11/11/2009, -1/+6Keep your chin up, Jay!
- inactive, on 11/11/2009, -2/+7I'm digging you up because no one should really be Digging you down for such a mild comment.
I disagree with you, however. I was mystified when Johnny picked Leno, and I never watched the Tonight Show on purpose when he did (not that I watched the Tonight Show much anyway).
I seem to recall seeing some of Leno's standup on the Tonight Show, and he was pretty canned, forced, and a bit cheesy even when he was young. Now it's just cringe-making to watch him.
Of course, I grew up watching Letterman (I still miss his morning show) and even David has gotten to cliche for me (though he made his own cliches, which says something).
Frankly, I think Leno coasted on force of habit for his entire Tonight Show career. A certain generation likes a warm glass milk late at night, and he gave it to them. - rolf, on 11/11/2009, -0/+5Actually, I like Leno in Top Gear, he has passion for cars:
http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/ - spookyttws, on 11/11/2009, -5/+10I can't wait for Lost to come back. Nothing to do with the story, I just really like the show.
- kefkaantakrist, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4And by beg you mean "Threw lots and lots of money toward him so he wouldn't accept the lots and lots of money the other networks would have been willing to pay him". It was anticompetitive - kind of reverse dumping. Instead of accepting tiny amounts of money for a product to kill of the competition in that market so you can dominate, NBC gave large amounts of money for a product (Jay Leno) to prevent the introduction of competition (from Fox, ABC, whoever) in the market (late night talk shows) so they could (continue) to dominate.
That said, I don't think it should be illegal or anything, in case you got that idea. But it was a little greedy for Leno (I want to be doing late night, but I want to be filthy stinking rich even more) and a little evil of NBC (we don't want to allow America to have more choices in the late night sector). - vault, on 11/11/2009, -5/+9jay leno sucks
- dustinmacdonald, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4That may be the best idea I've ever heard.
- legoalert33, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4This as his TV show

- NoShelterHere, on 11/11/2009, -3/+7What goddamn new format? No desk?
- Amnesia10, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4The show itself is not bad. For the network they are still probably ahead on the deal. It is a lot cheaper than an hour of drama, even if the ad revenue is lower it can still be profitable for the network. Only showing it a couple of nights a week may have been better. Also going up against a regular sports event will at best only get minor share of the market.
- SilverBlade2k, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3After they began putting Headlines at the end of the show, and not before the interviews, is when I stopped watching the show. I never liked the interviews and if I have to wait until the end of the show to watch the comedy skit, forget it, I lost interest and I'm not going to wait through interviews I don't care for.
- goomba323, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3clearly you you are not a genius.
- bubba9999, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3If anything, this should've been a "once a week" show. It just doesn't work every night in primetime.
- mihiryouthere, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3What blows is that a lead-in like Jay really detracts from Conan's viewers. I won't say that Conan's Tonight Show is as good as his Late Night was, but he definitely deserves much more attention than a failing Leno so he can work himself up to the stature we know he can get to.
Pull Leno, he is a detriment to NBC late night lineup (even Fallon) and the humor on his show is incredibly base. - inactive, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4Well...considering he had been on top (comfortably so) for the last 14 years, yes, it is news when he is not anymore.
- trevorjez, on 11/11/2009, -7/+9Thanks for getting Southland canceled Jay - you asshat.
- breakneckridge, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2There are other shows on at that time besides talk shows.
- GorfTron, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2Blake's 7.
- identifiedlogo, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3He needs to get his desk back. Thats whats wrong with the show. Jimmy kimmel on Adam Corollas podacast said that Leno lost about 2million viewers, and none of the other hosts got significant bump from it. the viewers just disappeared.
- drmangrum, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3MSNBC is just as bad
