- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+101Forget bringing anybody back, just let go of the love stories. I don't give a flying **** about Jack's love life or who the Vice President is having sex with or who the director of CTU is married to or who Chloe is fighting with or who Kim is dating or who Tony misses most or who Milo wants to kiss or... nevermind, you get it.
This ain't a soap opera. The season ended the moment they reintroduced Audrey Raines. - kingkilr, on 10/12/2007, -11/+73***** yes. And more boobies. Boobies are directly proportional to ratings.
- Condottieri, on 10/12/2007, -4/+66He could reinvent the show by bringing back Tony Almeta, for a start...
- MaynardJK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50Hell no. She is hot, but Kimbecile is the most annoying and repetitive character on the show.
I'd rather have "new" boobies on the show. - Tyr7BE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31This season really jumped the shark the moment the Chinese stepped back in. All of a sudden, within the space of one episode, there's a whole new storyline, a whole new villain, a whole new motivation for Jack, and 5 episodes in which to wrap it all up. It's like they accidentally resolved everything too early and had an all-night 'fix-it-as-best-we-can' session and threw that in as a band-aid.
- myerzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27The writing sucks. There's no suspense. They should pay more attention to the actual concept of '24' You have a block of 3 hours where the President gets blown up, goes into a coma, recovers, runs a meeting, and then goes back into a coma. Right.
- asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26The problems with 24 are the same as with any show with a big lead character. We watch 24 for Jack Bauer, not for any of those other lame secondary characters, so any scene where he's not kicking ass is a waste of our time. I'd draw a parallel with House: We watch the show to watch House being a snide dick, not to hear about the secondary characters' lives.
- catalysis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25They need to kill off Audrey at the end of the season. I miss Jack with nothing to lose.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25And American Idol... Contestants infected with deadly strains of weaponized viruses compete for your votes to see who lives as House tries to heal them all while Jack tries to stop Sanjia.
- bsteng0147, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25The story lines are becomming too recycled, and the influx of new yet disappointing characters has really deprived the show of ite greatness. Oh yeah, BRING EDGAR BACK!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Axe Ricky Schroder and the show will improve 10 fold.
- smartsingh24, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20kim is a curse. every time she's on the show, someone dies. Utterly Useless.
- mikeb7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19It would be nice to bring Tony back but that's just about beyond reasonable at this point in time. He went out in a questioning manner but all signs point to "he's dead".
We need more Jack....period. That's all I watch the show for. Screw the white house political crap and backstabbing love triangles and get back to the kick ass action packed Jack Bauer saves the day stuff.
This is supposed to be an action movie like show...not a soap opera with guns. - Unavoidable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21They need to combine 24 and House. Fox can do that, right? Ratings would be through the roof!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Just because you tag something /sarcasm doesn't make it funny.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16You mean Tony Almeida.
- JohnnyMcNugget, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Yes, we all watch 24 for Jack, but the reason the 5th season was so shocking was because they killed off the few characters we cared about. When David Palmer was president for more than one season, I began to care about his plotlines. Same for Tony and Michelle. When you have to introduce us to new characters, it takes time to become interested in their storylines, and the writers made a big mistake in killing everyone off and assuming that we'd be as interested in the new people as we were in the characters we knew.
- daborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13"As has been mentioned in 24 blogs/fan sites, the first half of the season or so should have basically been Jack being tortured by the Chinese, then escaping and killing them (especially Cheng) off just in time to get back to the US and stop an other major terrorist incident, etc. etc."
Yeah that would have rocked. Instead we got a simple cop-out where the whole Chinese capture thing just went away. What a waste of a great setup. Idiot writers. - obijohn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15How about bringing in Vic Mackie? Now THAT would be a show I could get used to.
- imamessy1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Like when Jack became addicted to heroin and quit all in one day? I know it's TV, and it's easy to forget that this is supposed to be one day, but there's a limit where it starts being ridiculous.
- powaking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12They need to stop making everything happen around the block from CTU.
- bacon_skoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Jack must kill Milo somehow. Milo is the male version of Kim Bauer.
- robojerk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Every time I see her I think someone needs to get her something to relive her of her constipation.
- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14No she is *HOT* w/o her "24 makeup" on, wow - just research.
- fikustree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I think Jack should show up on Lost. He could solve that whole damn show in a couple hours and then it would be over. Plus we could see him torture a bunch of the characters.
- asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Actually, I think if they just stop recycling plot lines, that would be a great start. That's my biggest gripe. During a recent episode, I said to myself "wait, didn't the bad guys run away in thee black Hummers and split up to throw off CTU last season too?" Damn, that is lazy writing.
As has been mentioned in 24 blogs/fan sites, the first half of the season or so should have basically been Jack being tortured by the Chinese, then escaping and killing them (especially Cheng) off just in time to get back to the US and stop an other major terrorist incident, etc. etc. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Give it a rest, will ya?
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10And the number of diggs your comment is getting certainly reflects that hilarity.
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10My thoughts exactly. 24 has had a good run, but after 6 seasons it's time to let Ole Yeller go to sleep.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Now I know that Jack and Audrey came back from the dead, but they are superhuman.
So unless CTU invented some sort of revival potion for dead people, I don't think Tony or Edgar are coming back. - RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Or... They realized that they didn't WANT to wrap it up by the end of the season. I sincerely doubt we will see this resolved before the end of the season. They will leave us with a cliffhanger...
- pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The writing has always been terrible, it's like a 12 year old's imagining of what terrorists and federal agents would say to each other.
"Did you get the bombs?"
"Yes."
"Excellent, now their country will truly pay!"
---
"Doyle, this is Bill Buchanan. I was just on the phone with the White House, and they told me we REALLY have to get the component back or there will be an international incident."
I'll still watch no matter what, Jack Bauer is just that good... but they need some fresh ideas. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@mikeb7:
"This is supposed to be an action movie like show...not a soap opera with guns."
Hey, you watch what you say about Sopranos. ;) - serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I did the same (watched all 5 seasons) and felt the same way about the first few eps of this season (they sure started off with a bang). It's all downhill from there though.. :(
- mjh2901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I read this in another article but totally agree with the idea... They completely screwed up. This season should have been all about Jack escaping from China. Hell they had Audrey running around china trying to get him back thats where she was captured. It would have been a completely different 24, move the characters somewhere else and make it all about getting Jack back or something like that. Then next year they could have gone back to nuking LA. But no they had to recycle the same old story.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Season 6 needs to be forgotten
we need a Season 4-5 again....ah ***** it I'lll just watch this again instead - Stryker412, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Easy way to fix 24:
1) Stop using plots from previous seasons (nukes, terrorists, etc)
2) Stop having moles/security breaches in CTU (
3) Get Jack out of LA (have him help out the Brits or something)
4) Keep the 24 hour format - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yeah I liked the old Palmer alot better than his dumbass whispering brother. I normally keep my surround sound system turned up to -30dB but every time he's on screen, I have to crank it to -7 just to hear him. You're in an office with closed doors. TALK LOUDER. Plus the guy can't make a decision to save his life and he's too shiny.
The season with Tony Almeda was the best. This season seems like a good reason to end the whole series. Sure, it was a fresh concept, and Jack made it very exciting, but there are times when writers need to just call it a career and go start something new. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13While it is true that the show has been recycling a lot of previous material this season, it's biggest obstacle hasn't been the writing. It's the fact that it airs opposite of "Heroes" on NBC, which is cannibalizing 24's target audience.
Still, regardless of competition, I welcome change. This show has basically been exactly the same every single season, with interchangeable bad guys, interchangeable office politics, and interchangeable acts of terror. I will continue watching this season, and then wait in great anticipation for the next. - AntonX2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Uh ... you don't watch daytime TV much do you ...
- joshua5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7They got lazy! Last season ended with Jack being captured by the Chinese for crin out loud. I was so waiting for the better part of this season to be about how he escapes or the events surrounding his capture, but nooo they just throw him in there with a quick aside "yeah, jack's back."
- wierdaaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You guys are all wrong, what they need to do is have there be a MOLE in CTU and JACK has to go ROGUE in order to save SOMEONE/THE COUNTRY/THE WORLD but before long he's working WITH CTU again and everybody LOVES him and he's going to SACRIFICE HIMSELF to save the day but he DOESN'T.
Also, Chloe has to open some ports to redirect packets to the backup server protocol override drive fragmentation proxy terminal subnet interface subnet SUBNET. - Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Didn't they also say that season 6 would be different? And it turned out to be just more of the same.
- markp93, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Hurt" by Criticism, 24 Boss Plans to "Reinvent" Show...
now it's a Musical! - myerzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't blame Heroes. 24 has only itself to blame. The writers think they can just crap out anything now and fans will eat it up.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12You mean the writers are going to stop using this program?
(pseduo-code provided)
int plot = random % 3;
switch (plot) {
case 1:
Nuclear threat
case 2:
Biological threat
case 3:
Threat against public official
} - myerzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I would love to see 24 set in China! Unfortunately, this will never happen, as all Terrorists/Chinese Emissaries/Russian Presidents never seem to leave Los Angeles.
- WileEPeyote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@mjh2901
I would have enjoyed that (Jack escaping China) much better than this seasons random ass story. Is it just me or does it seem like they are writing this as they go? - goosecat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hurt by criticism? No, hurt by low ratings.
- robojerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It gets boring and predictable once the nuke goes off.. Sorry if I spoiled it for you. I stopped watching after season 3 after that kid escaped from the mall after they repeated the lines "all exits are covered" numerous times and then the kid walks out of the mall with out even seeing a cop.
My wife decided to start watching it again this season since the first few episodes were so intense, then it went to it's usual crap again. I know this is just entertainment, but if you compared the suspense to shows like The Shield you'll realize the suspense in 24 is not really suspense at all, but just drawn out events with a few exciting tidbits here and there spread out amongst dribble and the viewer must endure the dribble to see the good parts.
Also, why aren't any of these people in jail, none of these people follow orders and in crises like this if your people are going to go behind your backs like they do then how can you trust them?
Also, why did the Russians give the U.S. missiles to decommission with proprietary software attached to them?? Mostly 3rd party companies decommission nuclear missiles so the chip that is so vital to Russian defenses could have been stolen from a long list of people that make contact with these missiles at any time..
