- SvobodaIT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I don't know about this. It seems like this new MTV venture is another one of those "arrive late at the party" type of deals.
- isewise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This pretty much closes the gap between Emo, myspace and music. They are all now one in the same.
- e03179, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6MTV.CO.UK is built on Drupal: http://drupal.org/node/81898
- DEIx15x8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow, it's funny how MTV hired the same people to make their site as Leo Laporte did for TWiT. Maybe MTV isn't as stupid as they seem.
- Hermitwise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Just something... wrong about signing up for an MTV service.
- bmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you want to hear about how it was built using Drupal, the Lullabots and MTV will be giving a presentation at DrupalCon Brussels 2006: http://drupalcon.org/node/53
- asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What do you get when you combine the user base of Myspace with the video-uploading features of YouTube and air the results on MTV? A bunch of ***** videos wasting airspace.
I'll stick to current.tv if I want to watch user-submitted content on my television. - mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So theres actually music in this thing?
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@cubejockey: Check out Currrent.tv
http://current.tv - noripcord7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3combining two popular existing technologies = daring?
- robertDouglass, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It is worth signing up for an account on the site just to try out their avatar builder. Check out my profile, for example:

Those of you who've met me can attest that the resemblance is uncanny, no? - sjalloul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To be honest....it has been a while since I visited the MTV website and believe me when I say it! MTV still does not get it!!!!! Your god-damn website is too busy, the design is crap and is not functional! Cumbersome graphics that are not optimized for the web and many of the pages take too longer to load. I've better website geared toward giving you a fresh and clean interface....they could do a better job. So if someone from the MTV webdevelopement is reading this maybe you should suggest to your senior web-developer to think about a very lean and efficient way in delivering content.
- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome!!! Gotta love drupal sites.
Did anyone else see the little BETA tag, :p - Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, MTV corporate is "daring" to attempt to cash in on assorted teen social phenomena.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Either a suprising number of Diggers really like MTV and it's assorted branding, or else there may be a bit of astroturfing going on in this here Digg thread.
- ajamison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Welcome to 10 years ago. You want music videos? Use the internet.
- Setari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yea, I'll stick to current.tv too. I have no doubt that it's considerably more interesting than anything MTV could put out.
- raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, current.tv reminds us of how MTV was when it first started.... lots of repeated segments and some filler, but once you start watching you get sucked in until you notice the repeats.
Anyway, if Youtube started such a channel and literally aired the same clips people were watching the most of, it might be more entertaining, but current.tv really is trying to show thought-provoking clips and be more than just a national public access channel.... or Myspace. If you haven't looked at it, you should. - penguinboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Unfortunately the design of this sucks ass, and makes me wonder why MTV couldn't afford a real designer rather than the intern they hired over the summer. It's busy, the architecture is all wrong, the graphics do not look professional and the typography is horrible.
To top it all off, horizontal scrolling appears on the main MTV site on a 1024x768 resolution all due to an annoyingly out of place skyscraper banner. - austinrules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is definitely a good move for MTV, seeing as that so many young internet users are going onto YouTube and uploading and passing along videos that they are interested in. It may be a little late, though, for them to make a real impact in this realm of the internet.
- SillyDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just stick to Music Videos MTV good thing I can get HDTV station TheTube (no affiliation to youtube) for free, they play music 24/7 with no commercials.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tube_%28TV_channel%29 - mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3yeah, MTV is real 'hot'. haha.
- yujie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I still don't want my MTV

I'll stick with Blip.TV and U-Tube to serve my video's for now, but hey things can change.
http://www.liverpool-skyline.co.uk - cubejockey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Gotta start somewhere and build from it. Keep in mind that the eventual goal of this is to create a channel that takes content in real time from users on the web site. That isn't something I'm aware anyone else has done or has even thought about doing.
