- fedak, on 03/06/2009, -5/+110Heroes was reasonably interesting season 1, albeit an inferior X-men ripoff.
Season 2 was unwatchable, Season 3 has been an active insult to the intelligence of anyone still watching.
1) Unrestricted time travel destroys any sequential narrative.
2) I don't think the writers have any idea who has which powers at this point
3) The pretentious Mohinder voiceovers are quite possibly the most annoying minutes in TV history
4) Is Peter ever going to remember that he left his girlfriend stranded in an alternate history?
5) How come the only powers that anyone remembers to use are the ones that require minimal FX budget?
6) Who the hell is paying the rent on that penthouse apartment?
7) Are they gonna rehash Clair's 1 dimensional daddy issues every episode of season 4 too?
Put it out of our misery already.
Seriously, Pushing Daisies gets cancelled and this festering turd gets renewed? - haroonie, on 03/05/2009, -2/+86it was a worldwide phenomenon as a show; this could have really taken off... but they tried to do wayyy too much. this season isn't as bad as last.. but isnt as great as the first.
- skellener, on 03/06/2009, -1/+69Put both in whipped cream bikinis and make them wrestle!
- chicagojack, on 03/05/2009, -6/+70Put Ali in a whipped cream bikini..... ratings will come back
- Ismith988, on 03/05/2009, -1/+63Why are the writers sabotaging the show?!
- Hyperion1144, on 03/06/2009, -3/+65No, put HAYDEN in a whipped cream bikini. Ratings will rival those of the moon landing!
- UnpossibIe, on 03/06/2009, -6/+60The show has a great premise, but the writer's strike, disappearing characters, revolving story lines and Sylar kinda killed it for me. I still watch it since there isn't anything good on Monday nights.
The writer's strike - It threw a major monkey wrench into the writing, you could see it through season 2 and into season 3 with the whole losing powers and regaining them subplot.
Disappearing characters - Characters will show up for two or three episodes and will never be seen again. Peter's Irish girlfriend, Monica Dawson, Micah to a certain extent, the girl in season one that controlled communication, etc.
Revolving story lines - 1. Sylar keeps dying and coming back to life. 2. The mutants (let's be real, this show is an X-Men ripoff down to the genetic/evolution storyline) are always being chased and hunted down. 3.Peter Petrelli gains powers, loses/can't control powers, gains powers, loses powers. Now he can only gain one power at a time.
Sylar - Seriously, ***** kill him already. He's a good actor, but his character should have died in season one with the culmination of all the heroes coming together. Also, I hate his caterpillar eyebrows. Find new villains, make a mutant monkey, give us something new. - JordanM85, on 03/06/2009, -8/+51Heroes has the worst writers on TV. I feel bad for the actors, because they have a great cast. I quit when Season 3 started getting bad... we get it, you can paint the future, and the future is bad. Heroes let's me down every time I give it yet another chance..... I am done for good. Cancel this joke of a show.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+43"5) How come the only powers that anyone remembers to use are the ones that require minimal FX budget?" ie. Parkman. Director: Ok now look like your telepathic! Actor: Uhh, how about I tild my head slightly? Director: GOLDEN!
- derbloodlust, on 03/06/2009, -1/+39I'm thinking they ought to let Digg collectively write the show.
- bombula, on 03/05/2009, -0/+32The writers couldn't handle Peter being powerful because it's much harder to write a compelling story based on moral dilemmas and ambiguous no-win choices than who-can-beat-up-whom tripe. That's why he got de-powered.
It's like Superman. Kryptonite is an unbelievably stupid plot device, and writers only resort to it when they're on a deadline or if there's a way to really build it into something meaningful in the story. Otherwise, it comes off as a cheap, gimicky loophole - which is exactly what it is. Superman's REAL weakness is that he's principled; he won't just kill the bad guys, which would be of course very easy for him to do. So despite all his powers, his job is vastly more complicated and difficult than it would otherwise be for an unprincipled superhero.
The stories that are most compelling are ones where the bad guys present heroes with impossible choices - like which of two people or two groups to rescue, etc. The new Dark Knight movie, for example, had that plot element several different times in the one film.
But when writers are hacks or on a deadline, they just make one character weaker than another and resolve conflicts through brute force, which is supremely lame.
Writers also need to avoid the "Warf" mistake, where the token tough good guy always gets his ass whipped by every new bad guy in the show. The idea is to make the bad guy look tough, but in the end it just makes the good guy - Warf being the classic example - seem like a pathetic wuss. - kismetropolis, on 03/05/2009, -4/+33They are pandering too much to the Sylar love. The suspension of disbelief is damaged the longer he goes undefeated in a decisive, permanent fashion. I know Quinto is an extremely hot actor (on multiple levels of the phrase), but the bad guy not going down and just continuing makes all the good guys look impotent and foolish, and who wants to watch a show where the good guys are that weak?
- twiztidsinz, on 03/06/2009, -1/+26"Also, I hate his caterpillar eyebrows."
THANK YOU! - painting, on 03/06/2009, -0/+24remember how they keep beefing up about other villains being "worst" than Sylar. But it never happened. This show is so stupid yet I keep watching it.
A guy who gets stronger out of people's fear, really? thats a super power? thats the dumbest power ever. Its so random and arbitrary. Whats next a guy who can shoot lasers out of his eyes only if he is within a gazebo? - twiztidsinz, on 03/06/2009, -2/+25Why do the writers hate America?
- carpeclunes, on 03/05/2009, -3/+25Are you currently watching LOST?
- illt, on 03/06/2009, -3/+25this show has taken the biggest ***** nose dive ever. The last 2 episodes were so corny and cheesy, i winced several times while watching it.
- internetisscary, on 03/05/2009, -7/+27Haven't give up hope on the show just yet.
- LoneWolf01, on 03/06/2009, -1/+21I watch it still.
- ChonoonFiend, on 03/06/2009, -0/+17Don't forget that he was black.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+18That's not saying much.
- haloburn, on 03/06/2009, -1/+18"I still watch it since there isn't anything good on Monday nights."
House. - bigfatphony19, on 03/06/2009, -14/+30Just CANCEL IT.
- InfinitySnatch, on 03/05/2009, -8/+24I guess that's okay.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+16Heroes is well off the tracks...
The whole draw for me was the flirting with super powers and how regular people are dealing with these advantages and disadvantages. Similar to my previous draw towards Smallvile. Now it's more of a convoluted prime time drama with splashes of sci-fi for the sake of it. Sylar was a faceless mystery man evil at the core, now he's the Dane Cook of bad guys. - dmgov04, on 03/06/2009, -8/+24I like it still. *shrug*
- FreddieD, on 03/06/2009, -0/+14I still watch, but I no longer get that "oh ***** oh ***** it's Monday night!!!" feeling as we approach prime time.
It's more like "oh yeah, it's Monday. I guess Heroes is about to start. I wonder if I left the stove on downstairs." - jef1, on 03/06/2009, -1/+15Kill the cheerleader, save the show.
JC, the hot kid can't act- but even worse is the horrible plot-line and diologue they have coming out of her mouth. Drop a gamma bomb on the Bennet house when the dad is away.
Hiro- once a good subplot- is unwatchable now.
It's turned into a bad Xmen run - Inflammo, on 03/06/2009, -1/+15Bingo.
- dullnation, on 03/06/2009, -0/+12Get Ando to use his power on Hiro and make it turn out to be that he still has it, but they have to work in a team for Hiro to use it. Also, make him use it on Peter, giving him his full absorbtion ability back in some kind of bizare chain reaction sort of way (Ando charges him, he absorbs ando's power, the supercharge ability is taken then it sorta goes in a weird bizaro cycle)
Gimmicky but what are shows like this without cool gimmicks? - brainboy7777, on 03/06/2009, -1/+13dude sylar is the most badass dude there. sure, his plot is ***** up but he's the only ***** dude that actually uses his ***** power.
- cameldung, on 03/06/2009, -0/+12The first season was classic good vs evil super hero stuff. Everything else since has been exclusively about daddy issues. The writers need to just get over it.
- 0tis, on 03/06/2009, -1/+12No, it's really not.
- orion846, on 03/06/2009, -0/+11wat
- ThatGeek, on 03/06/2009, -0/+11sylar is easily the best character if you consider all of the seasons. he always has an objective and will do whatever it takes to complete it
- duck99, on 03/06/2009, -1/+11TIVO-->Find Programs-->Season Pass Manager-->"Heroes"-->Cancel this Season Pass.
Should of done it last season. - Kohaxx, on 03/06/2009, -0/+10I laughed with Daphne's dad was all "and why do you keep turning your head towards me!? *doorslam* WIERDO."
- webznz, on 03/06/2009, -0/+10heres an idea, Kill all the ***** characters in an epic battle royal! start season 4 with a fresh story.. push the envelop of tv much like Season1
- FreddieD, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10Makes sense, too bad they picked the show's TWO MOST FAVORITE ***** CHARACTERS to lose their powers.
"We have budget cuts, what are we going to do?"
"Let's get Max Cherry from Cherry Bail Bonds in here and suck the power out of Hiro and Peter. Nobody really cares about those guys so it should be okay" - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10It's like a scab that you can't stop picking.
- ChonoonFiend, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10***** yes.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10They really need to give Peter his powers back and get off the whole X-men fight the gov. story. After watching Peter as wimp for the first two seasons, I was hoping they push his power use. He could have gone from wimp, to bad-ass, to power driven threat to the world. That would have worked for Peter rather than his brother.
Get Hayden some gymnastics/martial lessons, because healy chick plus a pistol isn't much to fear.
Oh, and get new writers! The dialogue sucks!!!!
- brainboy7777, on 03/06/2009, -0/+9I still watch heroes and will continue to watch it until it gets cancelled. That said, season 3 has a lot of crap that just sucks it up. There are too many characters, Claire being the worst. Hayden's hotness factor lasted until season 2; after that, her character is just balls awful.
- positron, on 03/06/2009, -1/+9If they cut the budget because it started to suck then it's not the budget that caused the suckage.
- mythicflux, on 03/06/2009, -5/+13To answer some of the points you are complaining about
1) Both Peter and Hiro lost their time travel abilities during the first part of season 3. So its gone.
2) Odd, the writers specifically eliminated heroes (some dies, some lost powers) during volume 3.
3) Pretty sure the Mohinder voice overs are gone as of this season, too
4) They specifically announced they were dropping that because viewers complained they should drop it. Because nobody liked it.
5) Because it's a television show that doesn't have a $100 million dollar budget per episode
6) Maybe the company paid for the loft since they were paying for Mohinders research in season 2? And if you don't like that answer, Mohinder switched sides and was working for Pinehearst (rival company) in season three, so they could have been paying the bills.
7) Noah Bennet moved out and left the household 2 weeks ago. He may be getting a divorce because of his lying to the family. So Bennett is focusing 100% of his time on stopping the here's. Claire and her mom are now running an underground railroad for Heroes because of Claire's protected status (thanks to Nathan and HRG).
Honestly, volume 4 is much more logically thought out than Season 2 or the first half of Season 3. In fact I would got to say that if you watch season 1 then start watching volume 4 (Season 3 second half). The show works pretty well. - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+9It should really be canceled...but I guess they figure they're going to milk it for what little it has left.
- Shivann, on 03/06/2009, -2/+10You were fine until you clumped Lost into a basket with Heroes. Shame on you!
- noumuon, on 03/06/2009, -3/+11yea, except lost is still amazing.
- noumuon, on 03/06/2009, -0/+8...except lost is incredibly epic. the way they're tying things up and how everything seems to be woven together is great. lost started to suck when they started having filler episodes due to uncertainties with how long it was going to air. once they set a deadline for the show, it became amazing again, as they could progress the story.
- DrCyclops, on 03/06/2009, -0/+8I wish the writers would sit down and decide how people's powers work and what their limitations are. It varies from episode to episode. Sometimes within episodes.
