- AmyVernon, on 12/01/2008, -0/+94That would be fantastic. The series was incredible.
- Jabrams2, on 12/02/2008, -0/+71Rome was SUCH an underrated show.
- ulb1963, on 12/01/2008, -0/+57I would love to see this happen. I was so disappointed when it ended.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+33I've never seen a show with so many shock moments, there were times when I actually stood up and my jaw hit the floor while watching Rome.
- Seemefearme, on 12/02/2008, -0/+30They wouldn't need A list talent, just the original actors, all of whom are not A list.
- Caalro, on 12/02/2008, -4/+31NOW DO IT FOR DEADWOOD!!!!
/thats right... i used caps lock. - acegi, on 12/02/2008, -1/+26***** yeah. best ***** show ever.
HAIL CAESAR - Dr.Lehoux, on 12/02/2008, -0/+25why not just bring it back....no movie, just continue with season 3. The great thing about this series is that they have unlimited source material...
- lumpking69, on 12/02/2008, -1/+19Rome is in the same club as firefly. Good company though.
Rome was such a good show. It was truly a crime that it was killed off in its infancy/prime. That show could have gone on for years. I really hope this movie gets made. - GungHoTang, on 12/02/2008, -1/+18all i have to say is THIRTEEN
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -4/+20the show alone cost a fortune, imagine what a feature-length movie would cost with A list talent
- DeadSkinMask, on 12/02/2008, -0/+16Casting "A list talent" for this would completely ruin it.
I hope they get all the same people. - ayeroxor, on 12/02/2008, -0/+14Red onions are so called because of the pigmentation in their surface.
- rrc7cz, on 12/02/2008, -0/+12I _loved_ this series... it was one of the few intelligent and entertaining things to watch on TV. The actors were brilliant, I loved that it was losely based on real history (makes it more powerful for me) and I was truly upset when they killed it.
- GeeksSpeakFont, on 12/01/2008, -1/+12that would be cool, though it definitely wouldn't be out for a while. then again, rome wasn't built in a day!
- Zera, on 12/02/2008, -0/+11AGREED !!!!!
HBO ***** PROMISED US TWO, TWO HOUR LONG MOVIES IN EXCHANGE FOR THE CANCELED 4TH SEASON.
THOSE WHO WOULD GO BACK ON SUCH A PROMISE SUCK ***** BY CHOICE!!!!! - inactive, on 12/02/2008, -1/+12Rome was made by HBO and the BBC.
- Akairenn, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10Juno's *****, yes!
- Y0tsuya, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10Being a history buff, I would much rather they continue the series. That way the characters and stories get fleshed out. Trying to fit even a small slice of history of Rome into a movie is like trying to fill a tin cup through a firehose.
- bakamas, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10I would definitely like to see it brought back rather than it be a movie.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8It would cost about the same as two episodes of the original series.
- Seemefearme, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8Rome could have been one of the greatest television series ever if they would have merely kept running. Everyone likes to think the show could have just gone on with the same cast, but imagine if they skipped ahead in time to other exciting times in history. Rome makes me appreciate the shows I love that aren't canceled, like Lost.
- ThePowerDigger, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7The show was always trying to be a movie so I think this works
- bakamas, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7Rome wasn't good, it was GREAT! It had great actors portraying great characters with a great story in a great set. The first season was flawless. FLAWLESS!
I am not going to dig you down though, because that's your opinion and this is mine. I am trying to start watching deadwood. - visigodo, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7THIRTEEN! THIRTEEN!
I agree with others though that it was underrated and it was a disappointment when it ended as it was rushed and had no definite conclusion that was worth coming from a show of such high caliber. I hope the movie goes through because maybe it might bring more attention to the tv show which was (due to HBO's fault) poorly advertised and even so did well. maybe a third season then? - unhg, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5Now there's a responsible producer.. I hate how shows I been chasing for nearly a year end abruptly with no ending...
HAIL CAESAR'S GHOST! - kernel16, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5Um... They better not replace the actors, the actors made the show.
- cleric85, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5May Fortune spread her legs for you.
- bakamas, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5I loved Lindsy Duncan's Servilia. I wonder if they would've kept her alive for Season 3 or 4 if they weren't trying to wrap up the show.
- samyoungguitar, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Just like Deadwood. Right.
- sivsta, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4This show freaken rocked. I was sad to see it go.
- ntopaz, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4LUCIUS!!!
- LostOnion, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4True, but I really didn't think of the series as a history lesson. It was just good juicy story telling.
- peterinjapan, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4* Hooplehead *****.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4The period of rule of Augustus Caesar (Octavian) alone could furnish 4 action & drama packed movies.
- beamster, on 12/02/2008, -2/+6Fool me once (Deadwood).
Shame on you.
Fool me twice (Carnivàle)
Shame on me.
I wont be be fooled again!
Didn't watch Rome. - ayeroxor, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4I really liked Pullo. He was a good guy. I could have a drink with him and we could talk about how messed up our friend Vorenus is.
- Zera, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Not that bickering about this is worthwhile....(as preferences are a matter of taste)....... BUT........
I think Deadwood was far better because so many of the characters are sympathetic. Nearly all the characters portrayed in ROME are completely ruthless, and it is hard to relate to everyone being so evil all the time. At least in Deadwood, the reason for the violence and very gruff exchanges was a result of a very real problem: no law In order to not get ***** with yourself, you had to come across as a badass just so noone would risk robbing or cheating you. - mfc5200, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4I thought the first season was awesome. Second season wasn't as good. But yes, the first season was absolutely awesome. I use to watch that show with my roommate on a weekly basis, great times.
- dandonia, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3It was the ultimate guy show. You had sex, violance/action, comedy and quality acting.
- d2002, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3The second season was a bit weak, but I would definitely watch this movie.
- garths, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3You know that when the protagonists regularly rape and murder and the writers still somehow manage to make you like them, that it is a well-done show.
Having said that, following up the series with a movie is like following up a 12 hour orgy with a quick hand-job. Fun, but somehow not satisfying. - passedoutghost, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4Oh God no.
Digg me down if you want but as a ancient history nerd I disliked movies like Troy and Alexander. Sure they were pretty good in terms of film technique and action. But the plot was screwed.
But I'll give the creators of Rome credit for making it believable. - DeadManWalking, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3I know that they'd probably go forward in time but there's a part of me that would love a prequel showing the rise of Caesar. It could even begin with his capture by pirates. I suppose the only problem is that you couldn't really "end" the movie with him preparing to cross the Rubicon.
- passedoutghost, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Try reading I Claudius. Best "fiction" novel you'll ever read. It was the one of the books that got me hooked on ancient history and reading.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -4/+7The difference between Rome and Firefly was that Rome was superbly written, high-end drama based on history with top notch acting and directing, and the other was a dully written, overrated piece of cowboys-in-space with piss-poor American actors and dodgy plot.
Sorry Firefly fans, it's the truth, the show was not all that great. Rome, however, was amongst the best shows in years, maybe decades. The quality of acting alone shat all anything else at the time except maybe Deadwood. - dolphindance25, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Freakin' kick-ass show. I had an cultural anthropology professor who recommended and said the portrayal of day-to-day life was largely accurate.
- brie987, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3This was an incredible series and I like most was sad to see it go, what made me really sad was that I could feel the second season speeding up to cover many years in what seemed like days within the story. I Claudius was great I remember seeing it on PBS when I was very young and I still remember being captivated I also saw, being much older, Caligula with Malcolm McDowell, there are two versions one being the Penthouse version and the other was the wide release. The sex was a bit gratuitous but it was not so bad, the great thing I found about Caligula was the barbarism and absolute power some people had at the time and the graphic nature of the show really hit it home. Really graphic but it made you think.
- Napiertt, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2THIRTEENTH!
- Ndiggnation, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I thought that it was rated pretty highly, just that HBO didn't want to spend the $$ on it.
